Mr. Monk's Last Case: A Monk Movie (2023)
Deja Vu! But maybe brand new?
How great to see the familiar Mr. Monk, Natalie, Captain Stottlemeyer & Randy! What a great story line but I truly hope there will be a new continuing of the old series.
When that happens explain how Molly came to be, will Mr. Monk have a new team he will be assisting? Will Molly stay with him? So many possibilities for new story lines means to me Monk will be back again.
Maybe he will be bi-coastal now and then to help Randy, maybe Natalie and maybe bring the old gang back together now and then.
This was a sweet series, lifts one out of their daily grind with mystery, a bit of humor and always a solving of the case. Please bring Monk back!
Chicago Fire: Then Nick Porter Happened (2020)
Someone said there is a goof about an apple...
According to Wikipedia there is the Fuji apple. It maybe was mispronounced on the show but Wiki says The Fuji apple is an apple cultivar developed by growers at Tohoku Research Station in Fujisaki, Aomori, Japan, in the late 1930s, and brought to market in 1962. It originated as a cross between two American apple varieties-the Red Delicious and old Virginia Ralls Janet (sometimes cited as "Rawls Jennet") apples. According to the US Apple Association website it is one of the nine most popular apple cultivars in the United States. Its name is derived from the first part of the town where it was developed: Fujisaki.
So let's not get our panties in a bunch if something is mispronounced, just enjoy the show.
Fast X (2023)
What a disappointment, sad
I understand the desire to end a franchise is a big way but this is a colossal fail. Yes, you wanted to and "resurrected" dead family members - totally unbelievable. Part 2? Yeah I'm skipping it; had too hard of a time trying to follow or even recognize if there was a story or a semblance of a plot to this episode.
As a 20+ years fan of this franchise, I am beyond disappointed. I'm fan of Vin since before the first installment of the Fast and Furious, I had come to expect much more. Vin, what were you thinking? How can you expect any trust that a Part 2 can redeem the end of this franchise?
I'm out.
Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story (2023)
Checks all the boxes to add up to a great, great series!
I have watched the series several times over and I should continue to keep watching. The acting is superb! In every scene, each character portrays such realistically sensitive character development while trying to be historically accurate.
Of the Bridgerton shows this is my favorite series. I love how the characters were developed with each episode letting us in to see why they have developed the way they did.
Additionally, some of the scenes contains dialogue that can well apply to relationships today, that is, if you are earnestly trying to be part of a successful relationship whether that relationship is as a friend, a mother, a spouse; these are all great examples of what we could become.
Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)
Disappointing
Disappointing to say the least. Tell you more? Sorry James Cameron this movie sure was a disappointment, certainly not worth Athena very long wait to for this to b3 released. As much as I love the theory and actors, and the colourful scenery, the storyline was sadly lacking in that this was the same story theme in the original movie; this 2nd film just did not keep my interest. There were too many spots where there was not enough storyline not enough plots, not enough developed character or storyline to keep my interest.
I can guarantee that any other avatar movies that come out now, I will not be watching them I certainly will not be interested in anything else from this Director or the writers of this movie.
90 Minutes in Heaven (2015)
Such a difficult topic to portray
This is such a difficult topic to tackle and yet this was so realistically portrayed. I can well imagine the strength that had to be found within each person, the victim and each family member and friend close to the victim. I appreciate the science explored to try to heal the victim and all the critical natures of each injury but more importantly the depths of the hopes, faith and constant efforts to keep hope alive in oneself and each other.
The movie does not try to manipulate the viewer into feeling a certain way or judge what could have or should have happened were this a situation one may have to face if this were to happen to us or a loved one. I applaud the script and acting dealing with such a tragic accident.
Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
Absolutely the worst!
I hesitated writing a review because I don't enjoy being negative. However this is the worse movie I've ever seen! Attack of the Killer Tomatoes was a better film than this one!
And I'm pissed because of all the hype, all the Oscars given for this terrible film. I can only surmise the Oscar's we're given to somehow "prove" the academy is not racist; why else would they have awarded any Oscars at all?
Don't get me wrong, I love Michelle Yeoh and I can think of at least 2 of her movies that greatly deserved awards but had been shunned by the Academy. I loved all the main actors in this movie but they really must be embarrassed by how bad this movie is, I feel sorry for them.
Blue Bloods: Family Secrets (2020)
This is a family show that shows...
This is a family show that shows what a family can be. This particular episode I've seen several times and the introduction of another previously unknown Teagan once again had me all choked up. There's so many aspects one can see portrayed in every episode but this particular episode rises above all others.
The multiple story lines in each episode that all seemingly relates to a family strong in their moral compass which in turn delivers a balance is not lost on the viewer; well, at least not lost on me. I don't watch a lot of television shows but Blue Bloods is I faithfully watch again and again, and again.
Well done, brava and bravo to the many writers, actors, and crew.
Chaos Walking (2021)
Unique film, not to be overlooked
I actually watched this twice in a row, then again the next day. I don't recall another movie with this type of storyline. I was hooked immediately, from the very first scene. As the story unfolded, gently to allow one to absorb what they must have felt like from the absence of the most private of privacies to the insecurities that type of transparency must cause.
One can only imagine a future but would one ever be prepared for the trials these characters had to face. Who would be? What would be your moral compass in those types of conditions. Who would you side with and what will you be willing to sacrifice? Admittedly, if you aren't into cerebral storylines, then skip this one however I truly believe you won't regret watching this.
The Outfit (2022)
This is a story
That reels you in slowly developing like a fine wine. Stay with it, absorb every word and nuance right up to the end. Mark Rylance, as usual is quietly the real master of this tale. Each character is skillfully entwined in such clever ways you will think you understand the plot. As mysteries go, this is an unexpected treat.
All Rise: Lola Through the Looking Glass (2022)
This series has been favourite since it began
This series has been favourite since it began However, this episode was so bizarre, so disappointing because it's like the writer was on cheap drugs or some bad liquor. What were you thinking! I may never watch another episode after this one.
Moriah's Lighthouse (2022)
Rachelle's accent is wrong
She may have grown up in Montreal and perhaps even spoke French however her accent comes & goes throughout the film. I love this actor so I'm disappointed that she didn't carry off the correct accent or keep the poor accent consistently. But the scenery is lovely.
House of Cards: Chapter 73 (2018)
Season 6 was the best!
The story of power hungry politicians and the Underwoods' ruthlessness as the theme for this show kept me entertained due to the dark humour interspersed throughout. Unexpected twists & turns in each season was riveting. The legacy of Frank whose cuff links F U, accurately describes how Frank regards everyone was the best exclamation point.
Seeing Clair's backstory in season 6 presents a logical understanding of how she became who she is. However, she also presents her will, her intentions of creating a safer country for the future. And, we get to see how she's disappointed when faced with other power hungry politicians trying to assert their will on her brought me immense satisfaction when she refuses to be manipulated.
This last season was the best of all and the last episode's ending is very thought provoking. Brava, Clair Hale, brava!
Chicago P.D.: You and Me (2022)
OMG I did not see that coming!
This is, in my opinion is the best episode in all the Chicago One shows! This team is so cohesive, collectively partners that create a balance of very realistic characters with tough decisions to make and under a great deal of stress. Best of all is Jason Beghe. Regardless of his methods he gives it his all, he is all in. So believable with tons of heart. I must add the character of Anna could not have been handled any better, by anyone. She was so believable I could feel what she must have been struggling with every episode. Brava! Well done.
However, when Jay finds Hailey lying on her back after the explosion, how does blood trickle up towards the sky from her ear? I believe gravity would show blood dribbles down toward the ground, not up.
Good Witch: The Party (2021)
Breath of fresh air.
This episode revives my faith in the human spirit! We are all lucky when we find love, wherever we find love. I find it interesting that there are those who must never have found true love are those who found fault with the story line this season. I'm sad this series ends because this episode clearly shows reason to hope for us all.
Star Trek: The Next Generation: All Good Things... (1994)
Finale summed up series...
Finale summed up the TNG series very well. This last episode honoured the entire Star Trek family as first envisioned by Gene Roddenberry. Our search for hope for and in ourselves is a vital grounding. Examination of ourselves in the past & present may help our futures evolve to be the best for all of us. I believe this is the theme, the life Gene hoped for, for all of us.
The Resident: All We Have Is Now (2022)
I watch to be entertained but...
This episode really drew me in! The journey of love, life and death was brilliantly written. The subtle messages didn't hit my brain but certainly connected with my heart. I cried with the Raptor.
Naomi (2022)
Not the target audience
Although I'm a senior citizen and not the target audience for this series, I'm really enjoying how these young people are portrayed. The camera work is well done and the way the characters act and talk seem right on the mark for young people today. Bravo!
Law & Order: The Right Thing (2022)
Does not disappoint,
I didn't think it possible to see the same high quality as I am used to seeing in all the Law & Order franchises but this episode certainly did not disappoint! Great performances by everyone, love the new cats and seeing those from the last episodes too. I'm so glad Law & Order has returned, bravo, well done!
The Tender Bar (2021)
I love this movie!
It's like a warm blanket, real people, real life and everything is alright. Everyone would be lucky to have a family like this one. Ben's role as the cool uncle was so naturally played, so real. The music, so nostalgic brought back my own memories of those years. This will be a new favourite of mine for years to come.
On the 12th Date of Christmas (2020)
Refreshing, Best acting...
So many Hallmark movies get low ratings but this film has consistently, refreshingly great acting. Better acting than in many movies you see these days. I appreciate the nod to Chicago outdoor scenes but a little disappointed that some marvelous indoor sites that Chicago is famous for were not in evidence as a former Chicagoan I enjoy the reminiscing from seeing my home town's best locales.
The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008)
The bad reviews here must be from simple minded, childless narcissists....
Because this movie brings us the reality of children being just kids, with their lack of expertise & critical thinking skills not yet developed. Then we start to see how adults, with critical thinking skills and experience still have selfishly carried on with their pursuits of comforts, wealth and disregarding our responsibilities to to nature, to keep the planet healthy. There comes a time when it will be too late to save the only home we have, planet Earth. This movie brilliantly lays out a possible path, if there truly is intelligent alien life, wherein some species will save the planet, albeit a solution no human would prefer to see happen. This is a movie, entertaining, thought provoking but not for simple minded, judgmental fools.
The Circle (2017)
Wow! Eye-opening forecast of where we're headed, or are we?
I love that the film lays the table of where we, where we seem to be heading, what could possibly go wrong and yet leaves it up to us to decide. Is the future we want? Really?
Dead Over Heels: An Aurora Teagarden Mystery (2017)
Why are the main characters redheads now?
I've been enjoying this series but now with this episode, 3 of the main female characters now all have the same shade of red hair? Did the budget not all Candace her usual bleached blonde?
Joyful Noise (2012)
Praise! Take it Higher!
I got chills! This made my Christmas truly joyful!
