Ahsoka (2023)
After Finale Review
I've been waiting until after watching the season finale to give my thoughts on this show so I can have my complete thoughts and opinions on Ahsoka.
Y'all... this is a great show. If you're a Star Wars fan at heart then you'll love it. This show has everything you could want in a Star Wars story. As expected with anything Star Wars these days, the special effects, cinematography, set pieces and all the things that go into making anything Star Wars visually compelling are met and exceeded in Ahsoka. And of course the music is phenomenal. The acting... wow. Rosario Dawson absolutely kills it every time she's on screen. Ray Stevenson (RIP) was absolutely brilliant, truly a masterclass of perfect acting. But the best performance by far is Lars Mikkelsen, reprising his role as Grand Admiral Thrawn from Star Wars Rebels. He has a knack of commanding the screen every time he's featured. Just the way he speaks with such authority yet has such a calm demeanor, Lars (yet again) perfectly exemplifies how Thrawn is. The scene where he makes his big screen debut is one of the best scenes for a Star Wars story we've seen in a while, and he just walked and talked! Brilliant.
Regarding the plot and the overall story, personally, I loved it. As a fan of Star Wars The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels, this show lived up to my lofty expectations. Was Thrawn coming back into the known galaxy somewhat predictable? Sure it was, but that's not a bad thing. The story yearned for him to make his big return and the show portrayed that beautifully. Hopefully season 2 and the highly anticipated Dave Filoni movie continue featuring Thrawn in a prominent role because he truly is the biggest threat to the galaxy at this point in the timeline. And of course we have the incomparable Hayden Christiansen returning as Anakin Skywalker. He never finished training Ahsoka so it was a pleasant sight to see him again.
Overall, this show has been wonderful. It tells a gripping story, is acted beautifully, the special effects are great, the music and score is fantastic, and Dave Filoni is just a genius. The finale was good, it answers some questions while leaving some unanswered. How will Ahsoka and Sabine be rescued? Will Baylan find whatever it is he's looking for? What is Shin going to do with those raiders? How will the new republic handle Thrawn in the beginning? Will Ezra take Jacen as his Padawan? Will Chopper finally be able to commit war crimes?! I can't wait for season 2. The one and only complaint I have is the last 2 episodes felt somewhat rushed, I really feel like the show should have been 10 episodes but I'm really just nitpicking with that. I love you Dave Filoni and I'm sold on whatever future he has with Star Wars.
The Last of Us: Long, Long Time (2023)
Brilliant acting
Nick Offerman and Murray Bartlett should be very proud of themselves. Their performances as Bill and Frank is absolutely flawless, a perfect performance by both men, especially Offerman. In the game, Bill is a pretty one dimensional character. But in the show, Offerman really brings the character out and shows why you should care about him. Look at the small details, his mannerisms, just how he carry's himself while he's playing Bill. The same can be said about Bartlett for his portrayal of Frank. I mean in the game Frank is already dead and he died in a not so pleasant manner. But Bartlett really brought this character to life, and again, really shows the viewer why you should care about Frank. The chemistry between Bartlett and Offerman is astronomical. Both men delivered a legendary performance.
Mob Psycho 100: Confession ~The Future~ (2022)
Perfect ending to a great show.
This episode is fantastic, and serves as a perfect ending to the series. Mob finally accepts himself and feels his emotions again, is finally brave enough to admit his feelings to the girl he's been in love with for most of his life, Reigan finally admit the truth to Mob about not having any psychic abilities, and he celebrates his birthday with people instead of being alone. Dimple is back! The animation (as usual was awesome. The voice acting is top notch. The writing was amazing. Mob becoming vice president of the body improvement club is awesome. Everything about this episode is fantastic. A perfect ending.
Community: Advanced Introduction to Finality (2013)
What even is this episode?
In a previous episode, Abed jokingly said that when Jeff rolled the dice to see who would get the pizza that the die roll created different timelines. That was fine for that one episode and that's it. This episode has characters FROM ONE OF THOSE TIMELINES causing havoc in the "actual" timeline. This is a sitcom about a community college, not some sci fi show. Super weird, very bad writing. Season 4 as a whole was just not that good. No wonder they hired Dan Harmon back, to write the show THAT HE CREATED!!! Ridiculous.
Daredevil: Penny and Dime (2016)
Best episode in the series
Seriously how did Jon Bernthal not get an Emmy nomination for this episode? The scene with him and Charlie cox in the graveyard is absolutely riveting, soul stealing, and stunningly powerful. Of course the action in this episode is up to par as usual for Daredevil, but this episodes strongest point is the now iconic scene in the graveyard. The rest of the cast is, of course, on point throughout. The writing is, of course, amazing as usual. But the graveyard scene... just wow. One of the best scenes in all of the MCU, yes including the movies. If you're reading this, you owe it to yourself to watch this episode and this series.
The Last Kingdom (2015)
One of the most underrated shows!
The Last Kingdom is truly a great show. Very original, Great action, great character depth and development, great set pieces and absolutely amazing acting. It baffles me how many people don't know about this masterpiece of a show! Seriously if you enjoy game of thrones, you'll absolutely love this show. It's a must watch.
Undertaker: The Last Ride (2020)
Great Show
WWE has always been great at making documentaries, and this series is groundbreaking for them. As soon as the first episode ended I immediately restarted it, it was that good.
Boku no hîrô akademia: Unforeseen Hope (2020)
This show just keeps getting better
The fight with Overhaul is one of the most enjoyable anime fights I've seen in quite a while. Lemillion has proven to be one of the shows best characters in the short time he's been on screen. The people who make this show should be damn proud of themselves.
