Doom (2005)
Superb!
Finally, a game Hollywood didn't destroy! I don't know whether this is a spoiler or not, so i marked spoiler warning....
Just want to say that keeping the 1st person shooter element in the movie really kicked ass!
There is just so much i can say about this movie it would take me about ....... forever to do it all.
There is one minor difference from the game, in that the creatures are now genetic experiments/freaks etc but you saw that in the trailer so you know what to expect. lots of in-jokes also for doom fans. lol. A must see!
Hellboy (2004)
Ugh. What the heck?
Why Guillermo, WHY?!!!! It's like one of those trash British movies, albeit a bit darker. But still a room with a view and a staircase and a pond type of movies. You know, the ones with absolutely no plot devices. And lots of MacGuffins (look it up.) I was looking forward to this movie FOREVER as a huge fan of the character, and knowing PERLMAN would play him made it that much better. No one in the world could screw this up. Wow. Was i wrong or what? Perlman ended up being about the only thing that made this movie tolerable. Horrid effects, Selma's dry acting (Oh wow. i can make fire. meh. seems to be her general attitude), and a poorly laid out story. There's just nothing here for any Hellboy fans. Except perlman. IT gets a 1/10. Only because 1 is the lowest it goes.
Lady Death (2004)
Excellent.
All i hear about is how poorly the animation is done. It may not be up to par with what everyone expects, but look at it this way. Would you expect perfection in hell? It is my belief that the animation was made dry and gritty on purpose. It was great to see her character transformation in this movie, considering it will probably be as close to live action as we will ever get. I hope for a sequel very soon. If we want live action, i think we may be better off with Chastity or Purgatori. I don't think Lady Death would transfer well to film. But be that as it may, It is my own personal belief that all the naysayers about this movie are DEAD wrong. No pun intended.
