The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022)
IDK what all the criticism is for. Really like it.
The production has nailed the cinematography, CGI and film score the feel is certainly Middle-Earth. Now I'm not a hard-core Tolkien fan and haven't read his prequel to the LOTR material, I do understand some of the critique is due to straying from that material but I don't feel that would ruin it for me anyways if I was familiar with it. The first couple episodes were slow, we just finished the fourth and I'm hooked. The story is good IMO, people need to get over themselves and not to expect it to all of a sudden rival Peter Jackson's original trilogy. It's a high bar, so far I feel the production and cast are doing a great job at reaching for that high standard. I feel by the 4th episode I'm vested into the characters and interested in seeing how this plays out.
Uncharted (2022)
Skip and wait for it to hit streaming service.
Fast paced and action packed but feels overtly rushed. I can see how the script and story had potential but felt it lack depth and was shallow. Comedic one liners and jokes seemed forced. Definitely Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg fan, they have good screen chemistry but felt there was too much implausible sequences to enjoy this film.
Welcome to Earth (2021)
Excellent.
Cinematography and format is superb, Will Smith is a class act and fun, really enjoy this series hope to see more episodes the future. Worth watching.
Jungle Cruise (2021)
Great action and just fun.
My wife and I saw this and was honestly not very interested in seeing this despite being a fan of DJ and Emily Blunt. Having low expectations was probably a reason I actually enjoyed it. It was campy, predictable but fun and packed with action. It was a good escape from the daily grind with proper homage to the ride at Disneyland. Worth seeing, fun film, dont expect
academy award winning performances but worth the $13.
El hoyo (2019)
Regret watching.
I understand the paradigms and read several other great analyses of the film here but I felt it was waste of time. Didn't really enjoy it.
