Deep Water (2022)
Extremely uncomfortable watching it! So did the job
They didn't waste time creating that cringe worthy experience and the extremely awkward and uncomfortable relationship between couples who love each other but can't let go, well let on is kind of one sided.
Don't want to spoil it but its a pretty good psychological triller and should not be mistaken as an erotic movie.
The characters are played well and Story line holds a narrative that makes you wonder "what would I do?"
Be willing to be patient, the director fails to draw you into the main characters but rather focus on the disturbing thought of what would you do if it was you, then allow the characters express the possibilities of what might happen and how you would react.
All in all, it's watchable, enjoyable and pretty disturbing.
Thats my 2 cent.
Prey (2022)
The best of them all
For a change Hollywood gives soul and character to Native Indians and produce the best predator movie franchise to date beating the first one in my opinion.
In this version see brains over muscle & advanced technology. The best part is the hero is a girl trying to fit into a man's world.
This movie makes sense die in my native lingo.
Ambulance (2022)
Non stop full throttle
Totally don't get why this movie is getting bashed. Probably one of the best high speed car chases with an ambulance, pretty decent story line, high tempo, emotionally charged moments and full of pretty cool action sequences.
Intense & thrilling moments all through, get you at the edge of your seat from start to finish. This movie deserves the accolades you will give to Bad Boys and Heat because its Bad Boys meets Heat and more. Two thumbs up.
The King's Man (2021)
Thoroughly entertaining
Without a doubt the best, totally unexpected and unceasingly exhilarating of the Kings men franchise.
Emotionally intense and rattling with a series of short burst full blown cinematic action sequences, it gets you on the edge of your seat.
However this in itself is not what makes the movie. The twist is in its wilful fashionistas that depicts the European monarch as spoilt cousins under the discreet watchful eye of the early days secret services.
The movie does not disappoint in expressing the deep pain of fathers losing their sons to a war they had no business being a part of and Perhaps, I dare say that my favourite quote in the movie characterises my cowardly approach to "service to country and King."
"If you want to win the war, you cannot afford to die for country. It's the enemy who must die for his country for you to rise Victorious."
And there in lies the true wisdom of the ages.
The Boys (2019)
Season 2, ep 1-3 kicks off pretty dark
Feels good to see super heroes behaving badly for a change. Never though a series on super heroes could be this intense but got to give this a 9/10
Tenet (2020)
A totally new way of looking at time travel! Bravo.
You must watch Tenet. Christopher Nolan's time bending master piece. Never before seen on tv, time inversion. All you need is to lose focus for 10 seconds and you will yourself scrambling to catch up. It's like 2hrs of constant puzzle solving. Thoroughly enjoyed it and I have to watch it two more times to truly get it in all it's beautify of film making. Extraordinary performances by John David Washington and Robert Pattison. The star power of the two is extreme subtle and they allow the story line to take centre stage. You are so focussed trying to figure out what time you are in you don't have time to enjoy synergy of the two characters but you notice it with time. Now back to this totally new time travelling concept. You can't go back to a specific time, rather you live it in reverse and then the mind boggling moments when you are like: "omg! That's what was happening" . Oh you will learn what entropy measurement is a way of distinguishing the past from the future and so many cool concepts. A must watch!
The Old Guard (2020)
It's not entirely new just spectacularly different
An immortal race kicking ass. I kind of like the limitations placed and the idea of an after life but still not truly immortal. Not going to spoil it.
Watch it
Gangs of London (2020)
Completely brutal and beautifully scripted
One of the bloodiest, most brutal actions scenes and a surprising insights into modern day LONDON gangsters and a deeply connecting under cover policing story that takes you into the true violence involved in a world of deception, betrayal, payback and retribution.
British acting and movie making at its best.
Extraction (2020)
Nollywood meets Hollywood and they party hard on Netflix
Beautifully choreographed fight scenes, detailed enough to synchronise every neck break, stabbing and gun shot wound to the actual sound effects.
Moving on to the actual plot, I like the duel approach of mercenary against mercenary and a kidnap rescue going absolutely wrong unleashing terror in the city with everyone trying to kill you and the kidnappee. Both trying to save the kidnapped but seemingly on the wrong side of who wants him alive or not.
Full throttle action sequences leaving you at the edge of your seat from start to finish.
Well worth the watch

Queen & Slim (2019)
A poetic black version of bonnie and Clyde
This movie is an Adaptation of the original bonnie and Clyde but this time with black characters shedding a poetic light on modern age police brutality and racism on black Americans and the rebellion that follows. Worth the watch.
21 Bridges (2019)
Unapologetically Predictable and thoroughly enjoyable
Hasn't seen such an engrossing cops and robbers movie in a long time. Engaging till the very end. Story line on point, action sequence measured in just the right doses giving you time to process exactly what's going on and then you get in deep and it's full throttle from then on. Enjoy
Gemini Man (2019)
Thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Critics are plain mean
Yes the trailer gives it away but it was thoroughly entertaining, the plot made sense and Will Smith did a pretty good job.
The special effects showed us what the future of movie making could look like and towards the end young Will should have maintained his realistic look.
The Mule (2018)
I grew up watching Clint Eastwood and this has got to be his best performance ever
Got to nothing to say but 5 STAR. It starts out as a feel good movie and then you start to feel for the character as Clint Eastwood draws you into the character he plays until the character starts to actually enjoy what clearly is a life threatening and dangerous career choice as an old pensioner.
The rest I cannot spoil for you. That wouldn't be fair on my worst enemy
Mile 22 (2018)
Best spy / espionage movie in years. Best espionage movie in years.
Fully loaded auctioned packed, a twist you don't get until the end and an unexpected villain turned hero depending on how you see it.
Django Unchained (2012)
Do Not See Django If You Find the "N" Word Offensive! See Django If You Love Sweet Revenge With An Overdose of Brutality & Sheer Unadulterated Gore
First of all, the "N" word was mentioned over 100 times and after a while it got me feeling extremely uncomfortable and in most cases offended.
For those with a moral compass, you will find yourself disgusted, appalled and ashamed of the sheer brutality and monstrosity of slavery practised by the slave plantation owners of pre-civil war America.
Sitting through the movie especially as a black man does make you wonder if you really should be entertaining this but then again, as long as there is some level of retribution at then end, perhaps I might just sit this one through and Quentin certainly does not fail to deliver.
Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained literally borrows its name from the 1960s cult Django westerns starring Franco Nero but bares no relation to the original movie apart from a short but really cool appearance from Franco Nero with the ultimate cheesy lines: "What's the name?" and "American Django".
This time around, Quentin goes the extra mile and decides to be totally insensitive, audaciously bold and ridiculously funny by turning the horrors of black slavery holocaust into a heroic comic book. Only this time, its all about exacting revenge and experiencing the true satisfaction of retribution, which I am ashamed to say but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
While some may find it racist and totally offensive, others may think it makes certain folks look like monsters and an unjust reason to carry out an act of terror and violence against slave plantation owners of the pre-civil war in America. Either way, I don't the Quentin cares.
Expect Class A performances from Jamie Fox, Christoph Waltz, Samuel L Jackson and Leonardo DiCaprio. Their combined talents and relentless swagger takes us beyond the realm of make belief and get's yearning for a truly satisfying end of the mayhem caused by Django Unchained.
Should you see it? Well that's your choice!
Inception (2010)
A total mind f**k and by far one of my all time favourite scifi movies
Just finished watching Inception, by no doubt one of the greatest mind f**k movies of our age. Becoming the master architect in someone else's perception of reality and allowing their subconscious to build their world within a world you have created thereby establishing trust and the ultimate opportunity for inception and theft.
But... Wait for it, what if you as the architect was the actual target and the only way to put something in or steal from your mind was to get you to willingly allow another architect in to help you build, convincing yourself that you can't do it alone.
Now whose reality are we really in and whose really getting mind f**ked here, the initial target, the architect or the newly found architect who actually thinks he/she is in control, not knowing that allowing him/herself to feel in control and a part of an idea is key to opening them up for theft and inception.
You decide! The enigma of a questionable perception of reality, that is, if you are aware of its questionable nature in the first place.
Pure genius is all I have to say to writer and director Christopher Nolan.
And by the way see if you can figure out what happened at the end. Christopher leaves us hanging and wondering at the very end as we enter into the world of the Architect asking ourselves whose reality we are really in or worse off, whose perception of reality we have now found ourselves lost in?
A must see movie for all who are looking for an alternative & healthy way to get stoned and totally mind f**ked without being on drugs lol.
Battleship (2012)
Fantastic for Lovers of Cheesy Lines & Unnecessary Explosions
Suspend your disbelief and enter into a world full of cheesy one liners, aliens who forgot their sun-protection lotion and can you believe it? fully geared up to the max to invade earth but forgot their gloves!
As if it wasn't bad enough, when the US's high-tech naval battle ships couldn't save the day, they had to stop by the Naval Museum to pick up an old destroyer complete with full active weapons system and veterans to operate them.
Actually to tell the truth, I really enjoyed one bit! Rihanna in uniform. A fantasy finally come true.
OK jokes apart, it was actually a really good film. Apart from the cheesy one liners and the fact that the highly intelligent beings managed to forget the most basic of items, it got me rooting for the marines and was a good Saturday night movie.
Taylor Kitsch once again did the film industry justice by playing the rebel who gets a cause and finds a way to tame the tiger within(You see! It's got me using the same old one liners as well).
As for Liam Neeson, he's the protective papa once again!
All in all, it's watchable.
The Cabin in the Woods (2011)
Best Horror Flick in a Long Long While!
Totally unpredictable with a fantastic twist you never see coming.
I was expecting it to be another cabin fever disaster movie with the same old typical plot: Hack teenagers to death with hacksaws and chainsaws. Club brains for mince meat and pop eye sockets out with spanners if you get my drift.
Well, it was all of that and more!
If you love Wrong Turn part 1 and you are quite religious in terms of believing in the rapture, the end of the world and the inevitable apocalypse then this film's a 10/10 to get you preaching the word!
Personally, it was all gore and blood at it's best for me.
Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance (2011)
Absolute Shambles! Worst Film of the Year!!
I grew up reading the comic book and was filled with great excitement when the first Ghost Rider came out in 2007.
Although Ghost Rider 2007 release was quite cheesy, it was still watch- able. Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance (2011)is awful, distasteful and lacks a good plot.
What really annoyed me was that I knew it was going to be a complete waste of time however the trailer promised the complete opposite. I was actually looking forward to seeing it just in case and I mean just in case.
The storyline was pointless and the performances completely horrendous. What on earth happened to Nicolas Cage. I mean he was the true epitome of what an action hero should be (Con Air's a classic and Face Off is one of my all time favourites only to mention a few). This is what happens when you release 3 - 4 movies a year. You just lose the plot.
Idris Alba's supposed French accent was a complete disaster and at some stage I honestly felt Nicolas Cage's was actually the one having a nervous break down and not the character Johnny Blaze. You really have to see it to get my drift and justified rant.
Johnny Blaze's one liners, moments of madness and road to redemption was once again pointless and lacked substance. To know that the film cost $75m to make is just shocking! It did not even look like a Hollywood blockbuster. Felt more like buggy wimpy knock out!
The only good thing about this movie is the fact that Ghost Rider actually looks really cool and much more realistic compared to the first one. The first one looked like a classroom skeleton on fire. You don't get a shiny white scull burning in in flames this time. You get something a lot more rugged and gruesome except for the fact that they literally forgot to complete the transition process of Ghost Rider taking people's souls.
Nothing seems to happen when he tries to take people's souls. You are sitting there waiting, waiting and then waiting some more until Ghost Rider himself seems a bit confused.
Look there is just no plot to this movie, the performances are completely horrible and I want half my money back.
Like I said the only cool bit was the flaming skull and the really cool bike. It felt like it was breathing in oxygen and breathing out fire.
My final verdict: Complete Waste of Time and Money!
Safe House (2012)
Thoroughly Entertaining With Believable Performances
Great performances from both Denzel and Ryan Reynolds.
Edge of your seat entertainment as the film starts off with a great deal of intrigue, suspense and short burst of action packed sequences.
If you loved Denzel in Man on Fire and Ryan in Smoking Aces, you will love this movie as their performances and heroic features are very similar.
Ryan plays a rookie CIA agent (Matt Weston) desperate for a bit of action on the field but assigned to look after a safe house while Denzel plays a veteran gone AWOL (Tobin Frost) who through some deliberate plot finds himself in the care of CIA agent Matt Weston.
As the plot unfolds, it tries to keep you guessing however the guessing game is overlooked by the really cool car chases, believable fight scenes and the tension that rises between the rookie and the veteran.
At one stage you think here we go again, the veteran taking the rookie under his belt and then a few predictable outcomes like the bad is really good but is he really good? The rookie turning out to be a veteran but can he be turned? There are no major surprises apart from you ending up routing for the heroes and hoping they both make it through.
I love the fact that the movie takes place in Cape Town, South African rather than the usual US or Europe. Just like Man on Fire which I believe was filmed in Mexico. It kind of brings a new look and breath of fresh air to action movies adding that realistic feel to it.
I think the combination of two quite distinctive however really cool actors played well. While one actor plays an expert and considered the best in his field, the other finally gets a chance to prove himself and you get to enjoy watching him instinctively utilize his CIA training and natural talents.
I would have loved to learn more about Denzel's character however it's still a good movie worth watching. Was not sure on how both actors would play out but to be quite honest, they really complemented each other.
I give Safe House an 8/10 because I thoroughly enjoyed it and wished the camera did not shake during the fighting scenes.
