Crawl or Die (2014)
Great Sci-Fi/Thriller
After attending the U.S. premiere of Crawl or Die I can say wholeheartedly that Nicole Alonso And Oklahoma Ward will be extremely successful in their respective careers.
The action scenes are wonderfully crafted and the set design/cinematography is amazing. The story is what I call a slow burn but the emotional roller coaster the film takes you on before ending with a bang (pun intended)is so worth the wait.
The special effects are tremendous, especially when you consider the modest budget the cast and crew had to work with but they made due with what they had and created quite a few memorable moments. If you suffer from even the mildest form of claustrophobia you might want to have a paper bag handy, as the majority of the film takes place in an extremely confined area.
As far as the acting goes, everyone in the cast, whether they have a speaking role or not, did a wonderful job of purveying intense emotion and setting the tone for each and every scene. Crawl or Die is the first installment in a planned trilogy of films that I, for one, can not wait to see. If all goes as planned, we may even see a few familiar faces that are considered legends in the sci-fi community in the upcoming releases.
The only negative I can come up with at the moment is the name change, I REALLY liked the original (Well, second...if you want to get technical) title of Crawl Bitch Crawl, but certain retailers balked at selling a film with such a graphic title even though they jump at the chance to distribute music by pop artists with the same, if not worse language.
Fear not, fans of crude and sometimes socially unacceptable language, I was informed by Mr. Ward that a Directors Cut of the film will be released at some point, under the original name and featuring bonus footage Crawl or Die was not able to use because of these restrictions.
This review doesn't contain what I would consider spoilers but....I'd rather be safe than sorry.
Zombiechrist (2010)
Tongue In Cheek Look At Religion
First Of All, Yes, This Is A Low Budget Movie, The Special Effects Are Pretty Bad And The Acting Was Lackluster To Say The Least. But In Defense Of The Movie I Will Say It Was Exactly What I Expected To See, Scantily Clad Women, Horrible Special Effects, Bad Acting etc.
But On The Plus Side It Was Extremely Funny And (Gasp) Somewhat Educational. I Have Found That The Most Informed People In Regards To Religion Are Those That Don't Necessarily Support ANY Organized Religion. When You Look Past The Flaws, Minor Ones In My Opinion And Take The Movie For What It Is You Will Have A Great Time Watching The Film.
This Movie Was Not Meant To Be Taken Seriously In Any Way Shape Or Form, It's Actually Poking Fun At The Movie Industry, Among Several Other Things Which Seems To Be Bill Zebub's Trademark.
In Short I Would Like To Say That I Thoroughly Enjoyed The Movie And Will Watch As Many Bill Zebub Films As I Possibly Can. My Favorite Scene/ Line In The Movie Involves Zombiechrist, His Arm And A Certain Part Of The Female Anatomy. The One Liners Both Characters Deliver Were Freakin Hilarious.
