Obsession (2023)
ChatGPT could have written a better script and chosen a better cast than whatever this was supposed to be
I had to check IMDB to see if maybe I was missing a prequel episode. There is absolutely no justification for why these characters become entangled in an affair. This is the type of plot and character development I would scold a high schooler for not being able to do better.
There is no absolutely reason why reputable actors like Armitage should have been cast in this perplexing display of video footage. Was this some favour to an influential producer who has some entitled teenager who fancies themselves a film maker?
There is absolutely no rationale for the actors to deliver their vapid dialogue with excessive whispering. They would have been better served to host an ASMR stream on TikTok than insulting us with the notion that this is in any way erotic.
There is absolutely no benefit to the reputation of Netflix or anyone else involved with the funding, production and distribution of this series. I'm embarrassed for everyone who participated in this "project".
I can't imagine Armitage even wanting to have this on his IMDB page as this is a one acting credit that could kill a career. I envision that he wakes up regularly at 3am and groans when he has a flashback about this horrible mistake in judgment and can only get himself back to sleep when he makes a vow to fire his agent in the morning.
I watched with half an eyeball only because the mystery of why this series even made it to Netflix without being thrown on the cutting room floor still puzzles me.
I did hope that maybe this was some some kind of meta performance art satire where it would be eventually revealed how low people will go to be employed and how much lower our standards are for what passes as "content".
Outlast (2023)
And we wonder why America is in crisis?
If you needed to confirm any stereotypes about felons, watch this. Some of these flesh bags were the most despicable people I would ever want to encounter. I'd be ashamed to return to the real world if I were one of these bully contestants. I think they pretty much ruined any chance of a second season with this horrible display of human character. I blame the producers and the people who cast this. I feel like I lost intelligence and moral integrity just watching this in the hope this would be something to showcase the power of the human spirit and to dispel all my biases about the small minded Americans I hear of in the news each day. Don't we have enough sociopaths in the media to not have to provide a voice to these disgusting personalities through an entertainment vehicle?
Billions (2016)
Unforgettable Dialogue
I need a notebook while watching this to capture all the great witticisms.
The cast is perfectly selected and all hebcharacters are well drawn to make the sub-plots just as interesting to watch as the main characters.
The only reason I keep subscribing to HBO.
Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters (1985)
Haunting.
This movie has stayed with me for over 30'years due to the stunning visual imagery and impossibly perfect music score. One of the few movies that inspired me to read he author's books after watching. I wish I could watch this for the first time again!
The Proposal (2018)
Insane!
Is this for real? How do they get advertisers for this? Why did I even watch? At least beauty pageants only happen once a year but rolling out this garbage on a weekly basis is indictable.
I feel sorry that Jesse Palmer has made a life altering or should I say career ending decision by hosting this. As for the contestants, they are so forgettable that luckily they can probably escape the embarrassment of signing up for this.
I once imagined a world where instead of being imprisoned for a crime people awere made to play idiots on reality tv for the benefit of other people's perverse entertainment and ridicule. This show is that reality. Schadenfreude at its best.
