Blackfish (2013)
Blackfish Review
Being a little kid growing up in a country filled with tiny islands as a collective, ive always loved seeing animals whether it be on tv or in real life. but seeing that all thats there in real life to see are cows, chickens, and goats, the occassional crow and the over abundant pigeon and cat, i obviously wanted to know more what more there is to this world when it came to wildlife. and killer whales always struck me as what the name intended: killer. whales. an animal that likes to play with its food and hunt those that are seen to be weak. though as i got older i began to see more of what this particular animal does in its natural habitat. they have a distinct way of communication, a family mentality, and large territories. it is suffice to say that with those three in mind, killer whales can be considered as intelligent beings, in their own sense. and what this documentary has shown is that corporations that confide them have dribbled down on all of those when it comes to these animals. all for the sake of providing entertaintment, well mostly. since seaworld itself do breeding programs as well as stated in the documentary. the habitat they are put in and the way they were trained to be just husks of their normal selves, magnificent creatures all around and capable of so much, go through so much toil and depression, that hit me in my core. just heartbreaking. the narration among the people interviewed goes really well with the editing of this documentary. a must see.
Fursonas (2016)
Fursona Review
Going into this documentary, i did hear negative things about the fandom when it was first introduced to me. and as years went by, i learned that its just like any other community perhaps. a group of individuals with an idealistic view of a concept they hold very dear to themselves, which we cant fault them for doing so. as it is in our nature for us to stick with a tribe that is very much like ourselves. a few bad eggs here and there when it comes to building a community should be expected. with the furry community however, the fandom that still has a lot to learn. with the management of it all, the view of the media, and the reactions made to responses of said media allegations. what we can understand is that deep down, the human notion of it all can get in the way of being a furry in this community. i did like the different personalities shown in the documentary. however, the flow of it all could have been shown a bit better.
