96th Academy Awards (2024)
Jimmy Kinnel
Jimmy Kimmel's performance as the host of the 96th Academy Awards left much to be desired. While he managed to avoid any major controversies or mishaps, his overall presence felt disappointingly bland. Here's why:
1. Lack of Energy: Kimmel's opening monologue lacked the spark and wit we've come to expect from Oscar hosts. It felt like he was going through the motions, ticking off the usual jokes without any genuine enthusiasm.
2. Predictable Humor: Kimmel's attempts at humor were safe and predictable. There were no daring punchlines or memorable zingers. It was as if he was afraid to take risks, resulting in a forgettable comedic experience.
3. Emotionless Delivery: Whether introducing presenters or interacting with nominees, Kimmel's delivery remained flat. He failed to inject any emotion or excitement into the proceedings, making it hard for the audience to stay engaged.
4. Missed Opportunities: The Oscars are a platform for celebrating the magic of cinema, but Kimmel missed several opportunities to elevate the show. Instead of embracing the uniqueness of films like "Everything Everywhere All at Once," he played it safe with generic banter.
In summary, Jimmy Kimmel's hosting was like a lukewarm cup of tea-neither scalding nor refreshing. While it wasn't a disaster, it certainly didn't leave a lasting impression. Here's hoping for a more dynamic and enjoyable host next year!
Prehistoric Planet (2022)
How real is it!
Yes Dinosaurs exist there's no doubting it, but how truthful are the facts. How do the makers of the show know how long a lifespan of a dinosaur is, how do they know certain dinosaurs return to a certain place each year to mate, it sounds to me that these facts aren't true. Just a bunch of educational guesses that aren't at all true.
Mary Magdalene (2018)
A Cult through a woman's eye
The definition of a cult is a system of religious veneration and devotion directed towards a particular figure or object and this is what I just watched.
Mr. Corman (2021)
Complete battle trying not to scratch my eyes out
An extremely boring look into the days and nights of an uninteresting public school teacher in the San Fernando Valley. I'm still waiting for the punchline, Where's the Comedy?
Rise of the Guardians (2012)
Some people just don't know how to make a movie
This movie could of been so much better if the research for it was more in depth. Making the Easter Bunny Australian was the worse decision ever. In Australia it's the Easter Bilbies that deliver our Easter Eggs, Rabbits in Australia are vermin and they destroy farm land and they also destroy Bilby Colonies around Australia. Making the Bilby a rare species.
The 5th Wave (2016)
What ever happened
This movie would of really of been fantastic if they'd had made the first 4 movies first. If your going to make a movie, start with the 1st one. Don't make the 5th then play catch up.
Pan Am (2011)
Pan Am is much better the The Love Boat
Pan Am is what the Love Boat was in the 70s & 80s.
Take a trip with the Pan Am crew while they jet set around the world.
Alpha (2018)
Cinematography was Fantastic
I'm that type of person that can't stand subtitles in a movie. I am unable to watch a movie and read at the same time. So when I first watched this movie back in 2019 I walked out of the movie because despite they say it's language is English it is not. I'd say it's in a language that I would compare to the native language of the aboriginal people in Australia. I could be very wrong in saying that, anyway today I decided to give it another go since I found it on Netflix, knowing that Netflix will have it translated and spoken in English like so many other movies I have watched that's in another language. But alas they have not done this for this movie. So instead of giving up on Alpha for the second time, I decided that I will watch the movie through body language, facial expressions and how the characters interact with each other.
In conclusion I can only say it would of been better if I could actually knew what was said, in saying that the movie was alright and I'll only be giving it a 4/10 for the cinematography and performances.
Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn (2020)
What a Waste Money
After her painful breakup with Joker, Harley Quinn finds herself all alone and a long winded and boring twisted tale told by Harley Quinn herself begins. You would expect action from the very start. We already know who Harley Quinn is from Suicide Squad but she explains who she is it all over again from back to front and front to back. You'd want the other characters Huntress, Black Canary and Renee Montoya's paths to collide at the very start of the movie to make it a action movie. But they seem more like cameos during the movie and with only 20 mins till the end of the movie, the unlikely foursome have no choice but to team up to bring down Gotham's Narcissistic Villain Roman (Black Mask) and his thugs.
Beecham House (2019)
Cant wait to see the next series,
It is that good and popular. I'm sure we'll be see more then another 5 series and more
Chicago Med (2015)
I only like that they cross over in programs, that take place in Chicago.
But why are all these doctors so up themselves! The writers need to take the stick out of the characters arses and let them help fix the sick people in the hospital. This is why I like Greys Anatomy better.
2067 (2020)
This is a Very Under Rated Movie.
What a bloody good Movie this is, I'd be surprised if this doesn't win some awards. Great storyline, the Theory of Time Travel is spot on and what fantastic ending and its an Australian Made Movie. I wanted it to keep going, maybe make a sequel and call it 2474.
Australia is stepping up its game when it comes to making Movies which is good to see.
We Can Be Heroes (2020)
It's a movie that only children might understand
I saw this and thought this is definitely not a movie for adults and even the children that sat around me watching it were so confused by it, they thought it was ridiculous and they gave it a 1 or 2 out of 10 when asked.
Don't waste your time, you'll never get the time back.
Star Trek: Picard (2020)
There may be nothing left that can save "Star Trek: Picard"
I heard someone say, "there may be nothing left that can save "Star Trek: Picard." Oh please there's nothing wrong with this series of Star Trek: Picard. The only thing I can see that is wrong is the television channels it is being aired on. Air Star Trek: Picard on Netflix and it will become the #1 over night.
The Boys in the Band (2020)
From the Beginning to the Very End
Mart Crowley wrote, produced and acted in Boys in the Band when it originally an Off-Broadway show, opening in April 1968. Not all of the 9 actors in the play were gay, 3 actors were actually straight but had the courage to play gay men in a decade when being gay was illegal. Now Decades after his play first put gay life on centre stage. In 2018 Boys in the Band was shown on Broadway and the production was cast with all openly gay actors and the cast was repeated for this film version, so it is again true that the entire main cast is openly gay. Mart Crowley joins the cast (made 2019) film for a cameo performance as a background actor in the bar scene. Sadly Mart Crowley died in March 2020 this year.
The Prom (2020)
What did I just watch
Don't get me wrong, I did like the movie but it almost did my head in. There were more musical numbers in this movie then any musical I have ever seen. 17 Musical Numbers 🙀
The Order (2019)
Interesting Show So Far but why the underage drinking
Why is it that every American College Movie or TV Series contain students that drink in bars and go to clubs. College and university programs begin in the thirteenth year of school, when a student is 17 or 18 years old
The Beyond (2017)
Science fiction is supposed to be exciting
My brain became that bored, that it died in the process when it was transferred into a human 2.0
The Meg (2018)
Jaws has had a reboot
Maybe bigger then jaws but definitely on the same wave
