Star Trek: Strange New Worlds: Under the Cloak of War (2023)
Ummm woah now
Glad I'm not alone here man this episode spun me around. Most of the episode I dug; the war scenes were excellent, the acting was memorizing; and it's actually awesome seeing Klingons being the bad guys, it's a great setting for the show. Yeah there's been monstrous defectors on Star Trek before but hey it's compelling. Is this real, a ruse? So many directions to go!
Bam! Murder, right at the end there. By a member of Starfleet, and no less by the hands of one of my favorite characters!
And how's this "to be continued?" Oh it's not. I guess it's just all shrugged off? Pike and the rest of the chain of command to the top of Starfleet, plus the governing body of the United Federation of Planets, plllus each membering planet's respective rep and governing body... they're like "meh, just another Klingon, rough day for the books."
Wow I hope I forget this episode. M'Benga is such a great character. Oh and maybe the Klingon deserved it? Hey bud, it's still mmmardar.
At least it wasn't shown on camera. And to try the whole "maybe it was self defense..." Please...
I gotta forget the ending of this one.
Only Murders in the Building: Thirty (2023)
Howard has pieced together my heart
Howard is now one of my favorite characters on the show, which includes the main three of course. I'm so glad he's getting more scenes because he steals them. The scene he's losing his vision, then spots the paper...
"LLLLook what you've turned me into!... ow"
He was one of the reasons with episode was so great.
But the icing on the cake (this episode's candle in the dip) is Paul Rudd eating the cookie. THAT is now the most hilariously uncomfortable thing I've ever seen. I had to rewind it a handful of times, I was dying. The sound he makes just before destroying the poor thing had me on the floor. Man... the things he did to that cookie... I'll tell ya I took a cold shower before a long night of staring at the ceiling clutching my blanket to my chin... shivering.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (2023)
They may not be your turtles, but they are the TMNT
Alright, so the original turtles were on TV about the age I started watching it, I was 7 when the live action movie came out and I loved that and the following two. I had a turtle costume with the thinnest cheapest plastic turtle shell you've ever seen, I wore it for years. I was raised turtles, you feel me? So believe me when I say... if there is a way to picture what teenaged mutant turtles are really like, especially in modern times, THESE are them. The movie is cliche? The movie doesn't follow the original script? Who cares!
This movie is fun, funny, action packed, with a sprinkle of heart. It is awesome!
Congrats to these young voice actors you guys killed it, you must've had fun in the booth because I could feel it. Ya had me laughing and you blew me away.
Hats off to the artists with this originsl style, it was too great.
I haven't caught any of the newer tv shows but those last few movies with the large adult-like teenagers? I dunno nvm...
HEROS IN THE HALF-SHELL ARE BACK!
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023)
Shouldn't have been made
I walked out of the theater about halfway through. I was shocked, I love the first two. I just couldn't take it anymore. Yeah there was the animal stuff everyone's been mentioning, nothing pleasant to look at, and childish writing during those flashbacks... but nah that wasn't it. It was our heroes. I'm not knocking the actors themselves, I mean I could say they did the best of what they had, or maybe they being creative artists themselves know crap when they see it and just tapped out. But seriously what's left of what we all fell in love with? One backstory? That's it? First off they killed the Peter/Gamora relationship (which was not the guardian story writers' fault but maybe claim the story takes place before that stuff? I mean its a backstory for chrissake)... their combined entity once wonderful and funny, DEAD. Now just frustration and heartache. Dear lord people I didn't order a animal torcher sundae sprinkled with the pains of amnesia. The other characters man wow. I felt like i was watching a puppet show performed by someone who's been alone wayyyy too much. Sheesh. Maybe someday I'll give the movie another try, skipping to where I had left, but in the meantime the reason why I'm writing this review now instead of after I saw it a few months ago is because I'm still so disappointed by it while browsing the steaming service that I had to watch the original Guardians of the Galaxy for redemption. And THAT is great.
Dinner in America (2020)
Where'd this movie come from? New love, new classic!
As soon as the credits rolled I knew this movie was one of my favorites of all time, further evident by the bunch of times I've watched it this month, something I haven't done since I was a kid.
Special, unique, original, emotional, funny... this movie's great. Not to mention taking place in the 90's, my coming of age times.
No spoilers but the first 25 minutes or so aren't exciting but definitely worth the trudge. The music, directing, tone, editing... all amazing (for the movie buffs).
These leads though... wow.
Emily Skeggs is too wonderful for words. Like... I can't. Her acting, facial expressions, quirks, the way she says things... man, she's got the ability to make my heart ache and cave-in and fill up and burst within a scene! Her character Patty has got great qualities but faults, which is what all memorable characters have. I'm in love with her character, seriously, Patty's got a place in my heart forever. Thank you Emily.
Kyle Gallner was phenomenal, jesus man. His character is the perfect prick, faults a-plenty, few dark things I'd never condone, but he's a badass and I love the dude. Kyle himself, his expressions, looks, mannerisms... you could watch an entire movie on mute and you'd understand everything, if that makes sense.
I don't know, I don't go writing reviews of movies, maybe I got a few posted out there or whatever, but I just wanted to let those leads know, and everyone involved in this film know how much I've loved this experience. And will continue to.
Thanks guys.
Adam Rehmeier, man, seriously.
Hocus Pocus 2 (2022)
The witches are back!
Kathy Najimy, Sarah Jessica Parker,
and the one, the only, the goddess,
... Bette Midler.
Every time these ladies are on the screen my smile is ear to ear. They are so funny, and so wonderfully evil. You guys are crazy, I love the three of you, well done!
Whether you're here for nostalgia, here for entertainment, or you're sitting there typing away on your little phone about how it's not as good as the first or Disney let you down or any of this stupid things you all are coming up with, the three witches make it alllll better.
Doug Jones, you are as epic as always. Sam richardson, so funny, so great. Tony Hale, what a surprise to see you in this film, you crack me up as always, so great playing evil and good.
Loved this film.

Truly wonderful. Well done all.
Encanto (2021)
Fantastical and Magical
I grew up with Aladdin, Little Mermaid, Lion King, etc... this movie tho...
I can't stop watching this movie.
The characters are so wonderful, animation is phenomenal, artistry is mesmerizing, music loops in my head, the story... so much heart, makes mine explode. I'm moved to tears every time I watch it. Encanto is a class of its own.
Theo Von: Regular People (2021)
I was dying
This dude is friggin crazy! The stuff that comes out of his mouth has me rolling.
Loved his last one and this one is funny.
The drawing snowmen joke had me in tears.
I don't listen to podcast so I don't know these other reviewers. I guess his podcast draws a sweet and sensitive type.
If you like stand up, I'm mean your a fan, this is another masterpiece.
How to with John Wilson (2020)
Insensitive
Some cool facts and topics, some comedy, but I only watched a few shows and in each one he makes fun of people or picks on a group of people. Now, he has his own ocd, anxiety, and/or quirkiness and admits it, but that must allow him to make fun of other people?
This show is plays like its for the common everyday hardworking joes, but really is for superior-feeling stuck-ups.
Theo Von: No Offense (2016)
One of my fav stand up specials
I laughed my off to this a few years back, randomly thought of one of Theo's jokes and came back to watch again. I was on the floor. This is one of them hidden gems. I had to hop on here and 10-star some love.
To all you low-star raters... something bit ya? Get your lives together.
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993)
The best ST series for many reasons...
...but if you were to ask me to give only one reason this show dominates the others, then I'd have to say this was the show that finally admitted what everyone REALLY does in holo-decks/suites.
Mic drop
Sharp Objects (2018)
Amazing, powerful, wonderful, sorrowful
The negative reviews are either children, people who don't know pain, people who have no empathy, people with their eyes shut, people who can't understand art. The pace is prefect, the characters are felt, the feeling is real. I was blown away. I won't forget this series... that's film.
American Sniper (2014)
wait a second, what exactly is everyone reviewing?
Hold up everyone giving negative reviews, this is a movie, right?
Last I checked this isn't a documentary. Last I checked Clint Eastwood directed a movie. I watched it today guys, it had actors and special effects and everything.
IT'S A MOVIE. And a good one at that. A MOVIE!
This social media crap is ruining everything. There's so many people out there who claim they've figured everything out, and enter the theater expecting everything they way THEY see it. Those of you make me sick.
Actors, developers, editors, producers, directors, etc. etc. are paid to wow us. To show, create, bend, exaggerate reality so we can escape ours. This movie did just that. So all you judgmental political WASTES can stay at home and catch up on your internet articles. Stay out of the movie theaters.
You're ruining it for the rest of us. This was a good movie.
