Bad reviews aren't wrong
30 November 2023
I couldn't get past the first episode. I read tje book, but a while ago. Loved it. Very slow, interesting, a mystery unravelling.

I suppose the show is going for the same, but it's awful. Can't put my finger on it. I don't the actor in the lead. He's not bad, I just don't like him. Bad for the part. Should have gotten a more selfdepricating, less self-satisfied actor.

It's just so 90's. The setting is cheap. The story is clicheed. The actors are 'hot', but they're not. It stinks of casting for looks, not the right one for the part. And the writing is just basic. If you're that bad at making up a story, why not just use the story from the damn book???

Use fast forwarding, it's good

Not a bad suspense show, just too much irrelevant private stuff.

I fast forwarded through every single lesbian oove trisngle scene, as it had no relevance at all for the story.

I fast forwarded through most all og the main characerts familial relations as well, since that sldo was irrelevant.

And most of episode 2 (is that the one with Vadim's backstory) could have been told in 10 minutes or less.

But other than that, great idea, good solid writing the technical and political parts. I'll watch the sequel - with my finger precariously close to the forward button.

Oh, and the music is unbearably bad. I hated listeing to it.

Boring

I love Michael Dorman. From Patriot to For All Mankind he's just great. He made me watch this, but it was just boring. Sure there is a story and a plot, but I just couldn't care enough about any of it.

Oblivion (I) (2013)

Boring and derivative
11 April 2013
A movie with the same twist as one recent sci fi flick (but who doesn't use it as well as the other film did) and the same ending as an older sci fi flick (again, not used to the same advantage) should laugh at itself. Instead Oblivion wallows in outdated heroism and 'gag me with a spoon' dialogue that reeks of someone who really thinks he is writing a classic, and so will be forgiven for making the actors utter the immortal words "dream of us" in order to be romantic.

Wonderful visuals wasted on a boring story with no point. Tom Cruise is fine, so is the rest of the cast, though the waste of Morgan Freemans skills and character annoy me.

Kosinski should stay away from science fiction until he has something to say, and then he should get someone else to write the script.
