US - an intelligent horror film
I hardly ever write reviews on this site. But after reading a handful here, I feel obliged. This movie was great. It has a theme, it has a message, it doesn't get bogged down in horror tropes, I LOVED THAT THE FAMILY WAS ACTUALLY SMART! I loved this movie.
If you like the kind of movie that makes you want to have a discussion afterwards, then see this.
And to all of you that were confused, bored or thought it was stupid ... I'm sorry that an intelligent horror film went over your heads.
Hong hai xing dong (2018)
Hong Kong disappoints
This is the Oscar submission from Hong Kong? Were there no other movies to choose from?
This is an utterly horrible film. The director, writer (was there one?), the acting all horrendous. The storyline ... um ... wasn't there. It felt like a group of sixth graders were given a lot of money to blow up their action figures.
Badger (2002)
Beautiful
I've been a regular reader of imdb.com for 5 years now and I have never before felt the need or desire to post a review until today. Today I saw "Badger" and it is quite simply an amazing film. The writing, acting, cinematography, editing, production design are all top-notch. This is what I would expect from today's top talent in the world of filmmaking. I'm not sure if the film is available for viewing for the general public. If not, please follow these peoples' careers. If they keep this up, then all of them will be household names shortly. If you can find this film, then please watch it and digest it. A powerful yet subtle film. A professor at the American Film Institute told me that this was "the best thesis film ever to come out of AFI." This is the film school that David Lynch, Terence Malick, Darren Aronofsky, Carl Franklin, Pattie Jenkins and others came out of.
