Janaan (2016)
Horrible copy of Indian cinema!
Whatever you think of Pakistani cinema and what it represents this isn't it. This is a mixture of many Indian films put together to make a nonsensical piece of comedy. From the acting, to dialogues to story, everything is bad to say the least.
Not even worth a review but I would be doing others a disservice by not letting them know how bad this "film" is, so that they can avoid this and not waste over 2 hours of their lives.
Chalay Thay Sath (2017)
Good premise, stretched story...
Finally Pakistani cinema is at a place, where it is taking liberties to the type of films it is attempting and this falls right in the category of such an experiment. Might have alienated local audiences with the Chinese parts and very modern approach but on the other hand it was somehow the demand of this sort of film.
The premise of a cross border story has been a tried and tested concept in a lot of Bollywood films but this cross border romance explores the Chinese-pakistani relationship. The dialogue and situations are kept simple and the storyline follows a straight forward line but is a bit stretched to be a full feature film. This might have been alright on paper but doesn't translate well onto film, as the last portion of the film seems rather labored and boring just to get to the eventuell climax of the film. Still the interesting cast and overall beautiful locations provide a great experience and is a good watch.
Balu Mahi (2017)
Great casting and premise!
This type of cinema shows the true colours of Pakistani talent. From the casting to screenplay, dialogues and production is outstanding. Unfortunately our audiences don't watch our films as they do with Indian cinema. Towering performances by the lead actors and a scintillating story till the end.
The Dark Tower (2017)
Good Movie, Solid Story and Awesome Acting!
Casting two of the heavy weights of acting like McConaughey and Elba for this movie made me really curious as to how it would turn out but the reviews and rating really scared me off.
This like many other movies shows a huge disconnect between fans and critics. The movie might not be perfect but is a solid offering and much better than some of the super hero and Star Wars movies being made today. Both lead actors deliver towering performances (pun intended) and Tom Taylor is aptly cast for this role. Many fans of the books were disappointed but if you haven't read the books this movie is well worth your time. The action is really well done and the story is coherent with good dialogue and not overly long scenes or lengthy plot points to follow.
I would encourage any fan of McConaughey or Elba to go for this movie as you won't be disappointed.
