The Seven Darks (2024)
Actually, pleasantly surprised.
I would definitely recommend this to anybody that's a fan of films like the ring or uncomfortable situations where the tension racks up.
The film which unfortunately yes is only one hour, when you get past the actual premise that every time there's a call something dark happens. The film has parts which actually made me Uncomfortable, The tension and the script were good. The actual moments when things are happening are probably better than most jump scare films I've seen. I do wish the film was an extra 30 minutes, but I did look up the director and he's known for doing shorts or small films.
Once about 10 minutes in and you realise what is going on and the storyline/narrative it is a very good film.
Road House (2024)
Started bad and got worse
The film is beyond terrible and the acting even from Jake Gyllenhaal seems off, The dialogue is beyond terrible to the points where Jake Gyllenhaal asked (in the movie) is roadhouse, two words or one. I really wouldn't bother a very disappointing remake and to have it called roadhouse and the bar actually be a beach house on a beach is beyond confusing..
The CGI and fight scenes don't seem to work. I don't know why they're used so much CGI for the fight scenes to the point where Conor McGregor doesn't even look like his punching Jake Gyllenhaal. The whole film just felt unnecessary and if Jake Gyllenhaal wasn't in it, I think it would've been classed as a B movie.
Lightyear (2022)
Son wanted to leave
Took my 7yo son, who loves toy story! He said it was boring, no funny bits. And didn't understand a lot of the story. Me! Bit boring story too complicated with bending time. And going into the future then back. Just wasn't funny. More of a story to be honest.
Ambulance (2022)
A solid 6 stars
I does what it says on the tin. It's not particularly deep, although it does try this on occasions. Sometimes comes through.. story as it is works. And when it's all rockin and rolling in the ambulance it is at its best. Worth a watch.
The Night House (2020)
Well worth 8 stars
The acting is on another level, Rebecca Hall (main character) is brilliant. The story pulls you along at just the right pace. Some really big scares and suspense.
Shadow in the Cloud (2020)
Seemed to be a Twilight spin off at first
It's odd! The story and the elements and music don't work,I'm not sure what they were trying to do with this script
SPOILER ALERT. I'm an hour in and she's hanging out of the aircraft (underneath) hanging onto her baby which is in a box. It's now all gone slightly comedic, but not funny.
Hereditary (2018)
Terrible
Truly terrible, defanetly not what was advertised, boring and at times silly
