Not really a survival show

If you're looking for a show that has people in it with real survival skills this is not it.

If you're looking for some novelty and a very soft porn-wannabe sort of show this is the show you want... But perhaps it might be more entertaining to go watch some real porn... I don't really see survival and nudity blending that well together.

It's disappointing that that this show is more about novelty than actual survival skills. If you're looking for a show with real survival skills without the fluff and survival hogwash try Alone. Alone is the real deal when it comes to survival.

This show is a total let down when it comes to the survival genre of shows. It's a shame that they call it a survival show.

Alone Australia (2023– )

Alone Australia is fake!

It felt more like a 'political correctness' propaganda piece. This is advertised as a survivalist show. Isn't it a show where the best survivalists compete against each other? Instead, it seems they put certain groups of people in the show regardless of survival skills.

Now there is the issue about endangered species. You can't put survivalists in a situation where they cannot properly gather food. Totally ridiculous that survivalists are not allowed to trap animals properly because they might kill an endangered animal. You are shooting the show in the wrong location mate! The name 'Starvation Australia' would better describe the show instead of 'Alone Australia'.

Raised by Wolves (2020–2022)

An awesome new sci-fi show at last!

If you like Sci-Fi you will quickly realize that the people who made this show really knew what they were doing. This series is a marvel to watch! Truly a rare gem. In the last couple of years most sci-fi shows would be a boring snooze-fest. Not this one. Mostly everything about it was interesting and very entertaining. Well done! Amazing!

The Mandalorian (2019– )

The old school authentic Star Wars is back!

'The Force Awakens' felt like it was made for the wrong kind of audience, of which I am definitely not a part of. The Mandalorian feels like the old school, authentic Star Wars. It is miles apart from the new Star Wars movies that mostly have some form of identity crisis.

The Mandalorian easily grabs your attention, much like the old school Star Wars movies. Interesting story, interesting tech, interesting characters, and overall very interesting! Absolutely looking forward to the second instalment of this great series!

The Witcher (2019– )

An awesome series but it could have been even better because the time line was all wonky!

Cavil was the perfect casting for the role of Geralt. An awesome actor for an awesome role in an awesome series. Cavil truly carries the greatness of this show on his shoulders.

It's a pity the scriptwriters went all wonky on the time line. In many instances you don't know the difference between a flash back and the present. This is a huge let down, and does not do the acting and overall feel of the series any justice. You basically have to start a meditation session in concentration to figure out what happens where and then you are still not sure what fits where. They should fire the whole lot of script writers! You are supposed to entertain your audience and not confuse them! Perhaps watching it a second time will be a little bit more enlightening but then again that will feel like work. If you're an avid couch potato you avoid any kind of work when it comes to couch-potato things...

Joker (I) (2019)

All the hype turned my great expectations of this movie into disappointment...

The rating of this movie here at IMDB made me really look forward to watching this. The acting was really good and the story tragic but watching a depressed schizophrenic that is out of his mind is not very interesting and gets old and boring very quickly. Perhaps this movie would give you the same experience as visiting the looney bin and getting to know some of the characters there? It's not really my idea of entertainment.

The Irishman (2019)

Painfully longwinded and boring...

I had big hopes for this movie. My thoughts were that perhaps this would be another Casino or Goodfellas. Unfortunately, disappointment soon kicked in and what looked like a great film turned into boring, longwinded torture.

There are just too many longwinded details and too many faces and names to properly follow the story. This is a movie that takes ages to get to the point and when it gets to some kind of point it takes some more points connected to other points and other details you already forgot an half hour ago to get to no point at all.

It is very obvious that they took old men and made them look young. This was well orchestrated but it definitely was a distraction when it came to following and deciphering the story that was being told.

3 hours+ for a movie is a huge time investment. 2 hours in and I hoped it would get better but it only got worse. Looked like a very promising movie but it completely fell flat.

Polar (I) (2019)

Dark but enjoyable, interesting and funny

This is a story of a lone wolf doing things his way. A character mired in mystery. A no kind of nonsense guy. The kind that usually makes the ladies weak in the knees. The lead actor in this movie is really interesting, a really bad guy but in all of this he still has some tender humanity left in him. This all blends together seamlessly into an interesting story. If you like a good action flick this movie will deliver, but keep in mind that it is a dark movie with brutal, savage scenes which may not be for everybody.

The humour in this movie is quirky and sometimes downright bizarre. A very dark movie but it has its funny moments. The absurdity of the humour creates an interesting narrative not found in many other movies and is refreshing if you compare it to the many humdrum block busters they release constantly. None of the actors are trying to be funny with quirky lines and creepy jokes, and yet some of its whacky characters are very funny and enjoyable to watch.

A great, refreshing action flick and something out of the ordinary.

Spider-Man: Far from Home (2019)

Bland characters. Boring. Disappointing.

Big budget movies like this one, insisting on stuffing politically correct garbage down your throat is just lame. I'm pretty sick of it and for that I award this movie with a solid 1 out of 10. Why not just go out and entertain your audience for once? Isn't movies made for the sole purpose of entertaining people?

The characters had zero chemistry and I found them downright boring and uninteresting. The jokes where creepy at times and bearable at best.

The story was very predictable and that is perhaps it's biggest weakness. A good story is gripping and you're always wondering what is about to happen next. All I was wondering about was when it will end so that I can leave and go on with my own life.

The special effects were great. Interesting to look at and I'm sure they put in huge effort. It was quite entertaining to look at... But eye candy does zero to engage you like a good movie would.

All in all a big disappointment. I was really hoping it would be a great movie and I had high hopes for it. The high rating it had made me look forward to seeing it but unfortunately there was no shortage of disappointment.

It's great to go and see big budget special effect movies but not so great when the only thing that is interesting is the special effects. :(

Avengers: Endgame (2019)

I wanted to like it. I really did. But it was boring.

If you like special effects then you will like this movie. If you like a good, intriguing, believable story with interesting characters then this movie may be very lacking in that department. The characters with all their interesting super powers just seemed to be a bore. Perhaps this sort of thing happens when you have too many main characters in one movie. There is no character development. One thing there is no shortage of is good looking special effects but it merely covers up the inadequacy of any kind of substance in the story lines and characters.

The story totally contradicts itself. I'm not going to post spoilers in this review but in the end it really looked like the writers just made up unrealistic stuff that did not make any sense or had any sort of believable realism. If you tell a story like a 3 year old, other 3 year olds are going to love your story but adults are going to be bored to tears.

They turned almighty Thor into a 3 year old, with mannerisms, intellect and all the traits 3 year olds display. But here we go again with Hollywood trying to emasculate men in all their latest block busters. Political nonsense that seems to be infecting and infesting big budget movies... It really just makes the world of Hollywood look all the more plastic.

Perhaps the extremely high rating of this movie made me expect something really good and entertaining but all the enthusiasm I had soon turned in boredom and mild resentment because 3 hours is a lot to spend on something that seemed to bring only boredom.

Alone (2015– )

Very entertaining reality TV. Gripping stuff!

This is the kind of show that makes time just pass by effortlessly. I'm sort of stumped that this was so good because most of the footage was shot by the participants themselves. Even with shoddy camera work this show still had the ability to pull me in and keep my full attention. Amazing!

You easily start to care for the participants because they are only human in difficult circumstances. The full range human characteristics and emotions are put on display due to people being in very difficult survival circumstances. Here in the wild survival is harsh and a world away from the easy life most of us have throughout our lives. This is a show without any sugar coatings.

In most of the seasons the scenery is something to marvel at. If you live in a city and you are tired of the rat race, watching Alone takes you to a place far, far away. A place where you can sort of experience the great outdoors. It is not the real thing but it at least comes close.

Really, good reality TV!

Billions (2016–2023)

Season 4 was a spectacular let down

This is the second review I posted here because the first one, was thrown out due to the political criticism it had. In my book this was a great show but they went radical in season 4 and that made the show look unrealistic.

You cannot have people commit crimes, have them sleep with prostitutes, do despicable things to others and then still have all the characters walk the political-correctness-straight-line to the letter. It just looks unrealistic and to be frank, stupid! When you bring in political correct things into a show it is a grey area and you have to start walking a fine line not to offend. It's this fine line that really limits your ability to tell a realistic story and this show fell into this trap. It ruined an otherwise great story! It backfired spectacularly.

Alita: Battle Angel (2019)

All flash and hype but no soul

These days the novelty factor of elaborate visuals and special effects are wearing thin. This is the strong point of this movie but without a soul it's like watching a robot do its thing. It makes the plastic world of Hollywood look even more plastic.

The visuals and special effects of this movie is great, even breath-taking. The story, not so great. If only the story was as great as the visuals! Instead there is not much of a story. A good story being told is a story where you care about the characters. A good story is a story where the plot is not predictable. In this movie it felt like watching a big mac being produced on an expensive assembly line. Perhaps the blandness of the characters ruined the story or vice versa. No substance. Big hat but no cattle. All flash and hype but still felt like a waste of time.

Shazam! (2019)

So bad, I started to cringe in my seat!

A movie created for under 5 year olds, but the monsters are so scary & ugly that it will give under 5 year old's nightmares. So, it begs the question about what was the point of this movie?

TV for young kids usually have adults that talk funny, and they are supposed to talk this way because that is the way adults act when they create TV for very young children. Well, let's just say that the main adult character acted like a 5 year old. Adding to that most characters in this film are shallow & tried too hard to be funny which totally backfired.

The comedy in this movie is totally off the mark. Silly and unrealistic to say the least.

I wanted to walk out on this movie half way through. A total waste of time. Just goes to show that sometimes ratings here at imdb are totally off the mark. I can't believe so many people liked it.

Oblivion (I) (2013)

A beautiful movie with a captivating story

These are one of those few movies where the bottom line was to entertain its audience. The scenery, CGI, sets & actors are a sensation to the eye. All this would most definitely not be that impressive if there was not a good story behind it all. The story delivers and it quickly gets a hold of your full attention.

When you completely forgot about the time passing while watching you know it is a really good movie. It really delivered on all fronts. Most definitely something to watch if you want to be entertained.

Captain Marvel (2019)

It was so boring that I didn't bother to follow the story near the end

Ever watched something and you just got too lazy to follow it due to it just being downright uninteresting? Maybe you fell asleep due to boredom? Well, this is the kind of movie that did these things to me. Even the really good looking special effects started to be boring.

With some political nonsense thrown in the mix this movie even started stinking. Maybe they should pay more attention to actually entertain people instead of shoving political nonsense down people's throats.

Big let down.

Black Panther (2018)

A classic example of the production and presentation of garbage...

If you like wasting your time and don't mind watching garbage then this is the movie for you. Boring, predictable, over hyped and poor acting are the main ingredients of this useless drivel. This definitely does not compare to other Marvel movies.

I'm not going to go into the PC bull that is portrayed in this movie, but if you don't like PC garbage in movies then this movie will sorely disappoint. I like movies that are motivated to entertain and tell an interesting story! As soon as I get a wiff of political nonsense, my bull**** sensor goes off and I start to dread what I'm watching.

The only positive thing I can say about this piece of garbage is that the special effects are nice looking and was done well - but no matter how good it was this movie still deserves a solid 1 out of 10.

Bumblebee (I) (2018)

Boring, predictable, shoddy writing...

I'm amazed at the rating of this movie here at IMDB. Well, the special effects are all good looking and entertaining but there are serious issues with the story. It is predictable, bland and boring. Have no clue to why the writers of this movie can call themselves writers!?

The humour is not particularly funny and is off key most of the time. The 80s music played in this music gives it an 80s feel but the overall movie is ruined with bland humor with an absolute shoddy story line that made me wish it was finished already because a boring day in my life is more entertaining than this movie.

I had good hopes for this one but it did not fail to disappoint.

The Terror (2018–2025)

Boring... Dull... Unrealistic... A waste of time...

It started out alright but soon got boring and dull. The story is slow and tedious to watch. Things happen at a snails pace.

A bear is no match for almost a dozen men with guns. Like a super villain with super powers the bear is slaying the crew in large numbers. Totally unrealistic and not believable... and then they say this is based on a true story. If you base something on a true story at least have the intellect to portray things as being realistic... But then again the story was probably written by hollywood 5 year olds...

The acting is up to par but the story line is a disaster. Could not help but fall asleep after 4 episodes. Painful to see them mess up such a nice narrative because it could have been a great series.

Colony (2016–2018)

Good show, but the camera men have parkinson's disease :(

Interesting and intriguing story. Cheesy special effects at times but not bad at all. A good show but and this is a big but, the camera men cannot seem to hold a camera still! If you are watching this on a big flat screen be prepared to be nauseated. Now a word of caution. The rest of the review is a rant and especially written out of frustration from a certified - sea sick - couch potato. What is this idiotic trend of putting camera men behind the camera that has Parkinson's desease??? It's not fun to watch a show that makes you sea sick. Why can't the camera be still ??? Hello ??? It's irritating when camera men jerk, shake, bounce, hop around and can't seem to keep the camera still for one second. I (as a live human) tend to keep my head still so that I can focus on what is going on before me. And this happens constantly in about %99.999 of my waking life. I don't jump, jerk and hop around permanently! Why oh why is the cameras shooting this show then doing this? Jumping, jerking, hopping, quick zoooooooming, quickly up down and all around... argggghh.. The camera people behind this show somehow got the idea that humans like to experience life out of the point of view as a drunken sailor. Somehow they think when people walk around they jump, jerk, hop and bounce like a jumping jack out of a box. Perhaps this show was so low budget that they could not afford the contraptions that keeps cameras moving in smooth motions... and to save even more money they got a bunch of homeless drunks behind the cameras. If you are one of the people holding the camera then here is a special personal message for you: 1. Don't drink while shooting. 2. Don't use drugs and medication when on the job. 3. If really sick with the Parkinson's then you must be in the wrong occupation! Hand in your resignation immediately. 4. Try to keep sudden impulsive, jerking movements to a minimum when operating the camera - better yet, use proper equipment so that you don't nauseate your audience. 5. Think of your audience! Nobody likes a headache or sea sickness because there is a jumping jack behind the camera!

Westworld (2016–2022)

A bit of a confusing let down

I liked the ideas presented in this series. I liked the special effects. I liked many of the characters. If you like sci-fi, you will like this.

But, the story telling seemed real wonky. The average couch potato that takes his or her show watching seriously does so out of pleasure and not because they need an exercise in concentration. Following the plots and story lines took huge concentration and at the end of it all I'm still a bit confused to what all the open ended plots and story lines are all about. The story made sense but it all came down to a whole confusing mess. Perhaps they tried to hard to tell interesting stories that turned out to be quite bland.

Everybody likes a good story but to like it in the first place one needs to be able to follow it and not be constantly confused and grasping at straws to make sense of it all... The story needs to flow to you naturally and effortlessly. I could not find that here.

Impulse (2018–2019)

Just boring rubbish...

I rather enjoyed the movie jumper. A good solid Sci-Fi movie with an all round good story line. This series based off the movie is just total boring rubbish. A total waste of time. The concept of teleportation is something interesting in itself and yet the writers seems to have gone out of their way to make it boring. Where is the drama? the intrigue? the mystery? a good story? tension?... nothing of these old story telling tricks to be found in this boring series... This series reminds me of a teenage soapie - the boring, trashy kind that airs on TV every day. Pity they took the cool sci-fi concept of teleportation and irreparably messed it up with this monstrocity.

Star Trek: Discovery (2017–2024)

This is so bad and boring it hurts

A new star trek! I can't wait! Wow!, was my first thought and then I watched the first episode... and all enthusiasm went right out the door. What the ********* were the creators of this monstrosity they call Star Trek Discovery thinking?

This is utter boring trash TV!

The only positive thing I can come up with is the special effects but, good looking special effects does little to improve things if there is a boring cast, boring story lines and a TV series that practically goes out of the way to bore the heck out of you.

The name 'Star Trek' implies that it's a trek, to and from the stars... An interesting name that can lead to interesting stories but instead the creators killed this series with stupidity. Nothing about this series is interesting... It's loaded with boring nonsense that will make the most ardent star trek fan fall asleep in an instant.

Homeland (2011–2020)

Started out awesome but soon turned dull and boring

The first couple of seasons were really good, enjoyable, gripping and you were always wondering what is about to happen next. When they removed Damian Lewis it all turned dull and boring.

This kind of genre in books, TV & movies is usually where really interesting things happen all the time which ads color to the story lines and characters. Sadly the creators, writers and actors of this show lost touch with reality on what is interesting and entertaining and so a really cool show has become a boring chore to watch.

This genre affords the writers to do cool and outrageous things but sadly they choose to bore the audience.

Fargo (2014–2024)

Entertaining but don't kid your audience by lying to them

I would have rated this series better but I actually searched the Internet about their claim that it is bade on a true story. The story is in fact fiction. Why disrespect the intelligence of your audience and lie to them?

This was fairly entertaining to watch. Perhaps the dark, gruesomeness of it all put me off a little. If you are not into dark comedy's, thrillers or horrors then this will probably not be your cup of tea. What made it interesting to watch is that you never know what is going to happen next.

I found the characters except the one of Billy Bob Thornton particularly boring. It was difficult to connect with any character or find any character in Fargo particularly likable or interesting.
