Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (2024)
The apex of cinema movie production
I immensely loved this movie, it was absolutely spectacular and incredibly breathtaking. The stunning parallels were deeply satisfying and extraordinarily thrilling to watch. I want to watch it a dozen more times, this magnificent, unbelievable movie. The pacing was exceptionally great and I wasn't bored a single second of it. Visually, this film has it all, with amazing and astonishing angles achieved by a fantastic, mind-blowing special effects teams. The action was intense with profound emotion behind every moment which really made me instantly feel for Noah, and by the end of the film I honestly felt deeply that I am just some human watching a true king of the apes rise up. This movie is real art surpassing any Michelangelo or Raphael and ultimately reflects the tampered DNA of our times! Utterly and insanely phenomenal this is the apex of cinema movie production, go Disney, go!
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024)
Fantastic - with a few editing requirements
To make this movie watchable I have a few important editing requirements: 1) completely remove ALL scenes with the burning blue girl ghost, including the final match lighting scene, nobody will notice it's missing 2) completely remove ALL scenes where Paul Rudd (the father figure), Carrie Coon (the mother figure) or William Atherton (the mayor) are talking. All their speaking parts and verbal interactions with other characters need to be removed.
And VOILA! After the successful removal of those cringe moral scenes, which in itself are the horror part of this movie, we have ourselves 45 minutes of teenager & grandfathers ghost chasing fun, with a couple of funny sketches!
Damaged (2024)
Well done, slow paced fiction
A comfortably slow paced, dark themed, fictional story. Well filmed, well edited, well played. There's subtle humour and strong characters, and overall the way it was done is appealing enough for me to have watched it.
Like almost all movies nowadays there's nothing new here, and more bloodshed than necessary. Some people might appreciate the showing of bloody limbs stacked together, as if this was the deli section of the supermarket. For me as a vegan however that's absolutely unnecessary and doesn't add anything to the movie.
Also, as some have complained, parts of the plot is implausible and unrealistic, but then it's not a documentary, is it? It's just a made up story, made for entertainment purposes. And as such it excels, in my book.
At 1 hour 30 something minutes I would call this an instant classic and an enjoyable no-brainer on a weekday night, or even on a stay-at-home Saturday evening.
