Joker (2019)
Flawless
Phoenix is impeccable and a credit to his craft. By hook or by crook you have to see this version of Joker, I found myself rooting for the guy and then .......
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.
Reading through some of the low mark reviews from what one can only presume are DC fans I can assure the hand full of people whom are yet to see this movie that this is without any doubt a masterpiece in modern movie making. I've read comments on how the first third of the film is 'too slow' but this is totally necessary due the need to portray the weight of devastation caused by the snap from the end of the Infinity War instalment, as a stand alone movie it's quite the spectacle however to truly appreciate it I would recommend seeing all the previous MCU movies from the past 10 years chronological to truly benefit from all the call backs. Go see it, buy it, marvel at it and maybe DC can learn a thing or two from it.
How It Ends (2018)
It's a shame
Nothing is explained which in itself is a shame because this had potential as a movie with the pay off at the end being inconsequential in terms of the overall plot. Nothing wrong with any of the performances, the visuals suited the story well and the pacing and editing were on point right up until the final 5th of the film when it seemed to divert attention to an unnecessary sub plot which had an obvious outcome then just as I thought we were back to the main story the end credits rolled. That's the best way to describe the movie without spoilers and judging by some of the other reviews, I'm not the only one who thought so.
FIFA 19 (2018)
Worst FIFA yet
Unless your a glory hunter that starts career mode with a 5 star rated team or one of those bright sparks who regularly chucks money at EA for ultimate team card packs on the off chance you might get a decent player, the gameplay is not good. In career mode in the lower leagues it's like running through syrup the flow of the gameplay has been destroyed by this so called "improved" passing and shooting mechanic. What is it with EA lately their games are appalling, too much emphasis on thieving money off kids with their in-game purchases. Never had a problem with previous FIFA's regarding playability but this isn't fun anymore it's a chore and the goals are boring to score and watch.
Save your money update the transfers manually on FIFA 18 because other than the Champions League rights and some ridiculous facial expressions there is NOTHING worth £60 in this game.
UTTER GARBAGE !!!!
Dead Man's Shoes (2004)
Every cast member nails it.
This is how you tell a story without throwing huge amounts of cash at it. The casting is superb, every actor clearly understands how real people behave and deliver dialogue. Only reason I gave it a 9 instead of a 10 is that it's a stand alone film and not a series or trilogy because I would have been front row on opening day of all the sequels. Perfect job by all concerned, a definite must see.
Patient Zero (2018)
It's a shame
Tucci is the only redeeming feature of this badly written, inconsistent, nonsensical straight to sci-fi channel horse manure of a film. Somebody needs to teach Dormer how to deliver a line without performing some kind of catalogue pose. Smith is NOT a leading man unless it's stage production of Philadelphia. If this is ever shown on terrestrial TV the only people that will benefit from it are the owners of all the other channels.
Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi (2017)
Abysmal
This was garbage, to those responsible (I'm not going to show you any respect by typing your names) I hope you never work in the entertainment industry again PERIOD. If you had any decency you would give back your fee's and compensate all the Star Wars fans whom you essentially made pay to watch you destroy their franchise. To Mark Hammill a huge thank you and show of respect for trying to warn us and congratulations on your well deserved Hollywood walk of fame Star.
Star Trek: Discovery (2017)
What is it these days with killing off space franchises?
It's not Star Trek by any stretch of the imagination. I'm watching the whole series as if it were a stand alone (non Star Trek) sci-fi show and it's ok at best. The characters are annoying and the writing is as generic as if J.K.Rowling and the writers of Days of our Lives put their heads together and had a go at a space series but some of the technical ideas are interesting with the spores etc however this is all ruined by the misguided "Star Trek" branding.
