It was in 1948 that want to be filmmaker Edward D. Wood Jr. and friend Patrick Dorner set out to make a Western. Their funds were limited to roughly seven hundred odd dollars, so they turned it into a short film, cutting corners, which in turn is what Ed Wood does best.
The film does showcase a fairly descent storyline, although it somewhat lacks originality. It's filming style is also reminiscent of Wood's later TV production "Crossroad Avenger", which also in a way demonstrates that Wood can do some quality work when given the chance to.
Overall, Return to Laredo was a descent Ed Wood Production, filmed as a traditional Western would have been.
