Burning Questions: Eternals (2021)
Lacked character development and storyline
I have loved and/or enjoyed all of the Marvel movies. This one I think the the acting was fantastic, and special effects quite good (although I did think The laser eyes and flying scene were a bit dated). However, so many holes in the story, an unfortunate sex scene that didn't add value to the movie and intimate kissing between Ikaris and Sersi, and Phastos and his husband. I don't go to see a Marvel movie to watch that stuff. I watch Marvel because it doesn't have that stuff in it. I'm disappointed as I didn't think I needed to check enjoyed and warnings for a marvel movie, but it seems now I will have to and may not be able to take my children to watch them in the cinema anymore.
So many holes in the movie. I don't mind that it was long, I like that actually. I do mind that there was focus on scenes that had no need to be in it which could have been used to better serve the movie plot and enjoyment.
Dash & Lily (2020)
How is this G rated?
People in bed together?
Lying to parents?
Underaged at clubs?
Leaving home in the middle of the night?
This could have been really good WITHOUT the added token cliches and poor decisions.
Hate that all shows seem to have to have a standard checklist these days. It is getting so boring.
Jumanji: The Next Level (2019)
Really enjoyable
Didn't have high hopes, but really enjoyed this! It was adventure packed, funny and really entertaining. Enjoyed watching it with my daughter (15) and husband.
Little Women (2019)
Questionable acting with constant jumping between stories
The youngest sister was brilliant.
However, it was back and forth in very subtle manners that made floating what was going on ... even for me, someone familiar with the story and author... didn't enjoy it. Really wanted to.
Dolittle (2020)
Hmm that accent. What was that, Robert?
I couldn't move past Robert's fake, odd accent. What was that?
The animals were brilliantly done.
1917 (2019)
Great story; very moving but the filming caused me to feel nauseas
The actors and story were awesome, but the actual filming at times made me feel as though i was in a VR or 3D movie, neither of which that i can visually tolerate without feeling ill . So so so so unfortunate. The scenery, scene set up, etc were outstanding. I lost 2 stars because it made it hard to enjoy my expensive seats and experience at the cinema.
The Kissing Booth (2018)
Hollywood's typical over sexualized crap
Could be a sweet story about friendships and relationships/kissing, but of course, Hollywood needs to take it far.
The girl girls on a first date in a sparkly gold outfit. Her wardrobe choices when dolled make her attempt to look older than she is supposed to me.
Watched it with my 14 year old daughter after reading the misguided parent reviews on here first. (Very disappointed that of all the reviews I read, it seemed ok to parents!) In any case, it gave my daughter and I a lot of material to talk about and discuss about how to not to act and what not to do. Really sad.
Further there are scenes with kids jumping from first storey balconies into pools. Promoting stupidity as well.
The Human Experience (2008)
Worth seeing ... but pack tissues :)
I watched this movie tonight with a friend at St Michael's Catholic Church in Belfield. We were lucky to have an opportunity to meet two of the cast members after the screening, and ask them questions.
I can highly recommend this film. It is refreshing seeing movies that inspire and uplift, giving hope to viewers. As well as the messages of hope, the movie cleanly demonstrates how quickly we can judge people and their circumstances based on what they look like, the circumstances, etc. It reminds us that we are all part of one universal family ... the human family.
Watch this with teenage aged children and older, it will provide grounds for great conversations. I do not recommend this movie to be viewed by young children, as some screens and concepts can be distressing them. A young child (around 6 years old) at tonight's screening was in tears.
