The Trump Prophecy (2018)
A Bit Preachy But The Point Is Valid
The dramatic opening with "First Responders" attacking a house fire is well done and helps set a tone of hopelessness in a world of desperation. President Trump appears in News Clips from Election Night 2016. The actors positive reactions to the late night news broadcasts announcing the Trump victory closely mirrored my own experience that day. Hopelessness transformed into hope for a new future. Although the Religious angle is pretty steep, the movie is made without hate or denigration.
Dean Martin: The One and Only (2004)
Lots of Old Footage
Like a mini-bio, this documentary summarizes the life of Dean Martin. Based upon archival film footage, an accurate portrayal of Dino's career and his personal relationships are presented in narration form. Highlights include his work with Jerry Lewis, their split and eventual surprise reconciliation orchestrated by Frank Sinatra during a Jerry Lewis Telethon. Dean's personality shift after the unexpected death of his son is also documented.
Last Man Standing: Eve's Band (2016)
Eve's Accidental Solo Debut At Bernies
"Last Man Standing" episodes each contain various sub-plots, often being experiments for potential future plot growth. For example, this episode has Cammy living with the Laraby's, a concept not really promoted throughout the series.
In this episode, Cammy and her drummer chicken out just before her new band is to make their first public appearance, leaving Eve all alone. Thank Goodness.
This is one of the "stand-out" programs from the "Last Man Standing" repertoire.
Last Man Standing: Take Me to Church (2017)
This Episode Is Different Because...
At the end, in a "too short" scene, Eve and Mandy are surprisingly excellent singing together.
Alone Yet Not Alone (2013)
Hollywood Hated This
Hollywood, and a lot of the reviewers on this site, hate this movie. It reflects a conservative version of history, showing how faith affected American settlers during the 1750-ish time period. The Indians do NOT do the horrible things discussed in one "Indian Expert" review! There are no sexual situations, and it is true to history. After reading some of the low-rated reviews, I wrote down a few names and dates mentioned in the movie, then looked them up. There WAS a Fort DuQuesne in PA, and the English General Edward Braddock was killed attacking that French Fort in 1755. (Battle of the Monongahela). Regina Leininger IS buried in Stouchsburg, PA and has a marker... "Regina the Indian Captive", placed by The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). The Delaware Indians DID kidnap children of murdered settlers and used them as slaves. The Indians sold scalps to the French for the bounty they offered.
Here's what is is.... the Hollywood elite could not believe the academy nominated music from this conservative movie for an award. They quickly had that nomination withdrawn to prevent this film from getting positive exposure. Even reviewers on this site who have worked in the film industry cannot understand why anybody would say good things about this movie.
I enjoyed this film. The basic pretext is based upon an easily verifiable true story, and the writers did a very commendable job filling in unknown personal details. Note that one reviewer complained that the main female character was TOO good-looking for the role. Give me a break!
"Alone Yet Never Alone" should be in every conservative's film library.
Butter (2011)
Butter could have been much Better
A great premise and a story that could have been inspirational, this film was slaughtered by gratuitous foul, fouler, foulest language, lesbian sex involving the teen daughter, and cheating married sex. None of this was remotely needed to tell the otherwise heartwarming story of a talented little foster girl who loses her mother, but rises to the challenge in a most unusual way. The film satirizes Christianity and home schooling, and look out for the F word (and worse) and a prayer giving thanks for great P*ssy.
These "trash" scenes were countered by a wonderful little Destiny, with her story and life being far removed from the irrational garbage intentionally thrown into this movie.
Film out-takes are shown during the rolling of the credits, so keep watching to the end for that.
