Wait, that's it? Episode 8 is the last?

Wait, that's it? Episode 8 is the last? And the ending is just like that? Or is there miscommunication or something because it feels like there're 1-2 more episode. If it's I think it 5/10 for me. But I'll put it at 8/10 for now because of 8 great episode. But are you guys seriously ends it with 8 episode? That has no connection with 1st episode & somehow it's like HBO wrongly put out the "season finale" on 28th April. Feels like the series have more episodes to wrap it up properly.

Tokyo MER (2021– )

I have low expectation on Japan dorama but this series really exceed my expectation & I enjoy it throughly!

I've seen tons of Japan movies & dramas so when I 1st watch this drama (or dorama the weebs calling em) I was like "hurm, the camera & lighting is a bit like ultraman or kamen rider" & then there's also command centre room. Also like ultraman. At this time I was like "oh dem, is this another superhero vs monster series from Japan?" Thank god it isn't!

When I read the title Tokyo MER (mobile emergency room) I was like..oh okay, so it's another medical series that probably center around ambulance or medical officer & after few minutes they just blew my mind away because the truck is as big&long as firetruck & they put operation room inside of it so you can operate on side not just have to transfer patient to hospital that'll take bout few minutes also have to go through all trafficjam etc.

The 1st episode i was quite annoyed because this MER guy clearly obstruct & endanger himself & more people by entering danger zone but as more episode all of em grew on me.

Not bad series from Japan. Also they don't use the overexpression like anime or wooden acting, the acting is great compared to other Japan movie/series.

This is a fiction story but if they make 2nd season or more they'll probably add tsunami or earthquake which is frequent at Japan & like somebody say the bad guy at the end is just dumb (the terrorist), maybe they need to add better bad guy if they want to attract more viewers to this series.

Maybe can make spinoff as not only Tokyo but other Japan city.

10/10 is too much but hey that's my personal rating & I love it that much because my expectation was very low at the start of 1st episode & I'm so glad I watch this series accidentally when I was bored & let my finger do the magic on Disney+

Turning Red (2022)

After Disney score big with animation movie the year before with Luca & Encanto. This 1 fell flat

The panda is cute, the story aint.

Storywise it's like michael j fox teen wolf, also this animation is more chic movie telling bout teenage girl growing up etc.

So kids probably can't relate much, the one they like in the movie is panda and cute kittens, that's it.

It just fell flat & forgettable.

The Foul King (2000)

Really good & funny wrestling movie from Korea

Love the camera work, the 1st 10mins really sell the movie for me to hookup.

Like other commenter say, the downside of the movie is the final fight.

It's good but when they go full violence & stiff fight that's not good, I prefer if viewers that watch any wrestling movies know it's not fake but scripted but having 2 guys fight it for real is bad.

Anyway quite impressive because all the wrestlers are actually actors that's quite known in Korea, also the final boss is such a hunk back then I can't believe he actually have superb body thought he's just fat lazy villain these days😅 Solid 7/10, lacking storyline..what's the point of his other co worker with bank.

Can scrap that & just show the interaction with really terrible boss & viewers can relate & enjoy the movie more.

If they scrap that timewasting storyline & make the final fight be good vs evil in a really safe wrestling way this movie can easily be 9-10/10.

Dream Flight (2014)

I watch this movie streaming from D+Hotstar in 2022. Watching it thinking it's China movie because the thumbnail show the supporting actress that looks like NiNi in certain angle.

At 1st I just let the movie play through as I play some random movie/show on D+ on my iPad to help me sleep at night.

Then tomorrow when I open the apps again I was like; well let's just continue the movie from yesterday & I keep rewind to 15secs earlier because somehow I stopped at the MC flirting with FMC, I swear when I start watching the movie the heroin/FMC is another girl & hero/MC is just a background/side character.

And it works like a charm on my 2nd viewing because now you can see when & where the MC starts to notice the FMC & falls in love.

And on 1hourish I was like, wait that's not China flag, wait this is Taiwan movie? And I'm more impressed because i do have watch other famous Taiwan movie & I'm not impressed, the apple my heart something, that's mediocre but this movie actually didn't make me turn off my iPad & D+ apps.

Throughly enjoy this movie, can easily rate it 10/10 but give it 8-9/10. -1* for being too long at 2.5hrs can cut some unnecessary scene.

Another -1* because the flight scene isn't that good but that can be accepted because it's Taiwan movie that lack budget unlike China movie that got styles but lacking substance (got budget for great cgi/explosion/action but the plot is all over the place&wooden acting)

Anyway this movie only got 50votes at 2022 & 0 review? You Taiwanese are weird, that apple heart something isn't good & cringeworthy! You guys should promote this movie more to outsiders.

Probably the best Taiwan movie that I've watch (Kano is Japan movie bout Taiwan baseball team so it didn't count)

The Ghost and the Darkness (1996)

1st time watching in 2022, clueless as what the movie about & I rate it 10/10 because

I really have no idea what this movie bout. When I read the title my guess is "oh a horror ghost story!?" Nope, so it's about long time ago in Africa "oh okay, maybe not my cup of tea but let's give it a try" because I'm not into some history african movie. But somehow it got good story, british going to africa to help build bridge for railway.

Then came the best part, yeah he kill 1 lion. Woohoo. Nope that's doesn't really pique me. What makes me enjoy it when the next predator aint 1. But 2 lions!

Oh boy & they hunt people like sports. Predators! Not just to eat for hunger but for fun. The africans all ran away because they say the 2 lion "the ghost" & "the darkness" is so fearful they kill people everyday which is confusing because lion should have satisfy their hunger when they eat 1human a day.

So the movie turn from real life true history movie into thriller horror like alien, predator or jaws.

And I'm actually think this is fiction because no way the 2 lions kill people for fun but it's say this is true story so umm..okay that's more impressive.

All in all I can understand why other rate it lower because the Hollywood add fiction american character like some kind of hero, and other things the lower rating review give(u guys can read em)

But for me who's clueless & only watch this movie 26years later it's so great because there're so many crap movie these days that just make horror thriller without good storytelling only for jumpscare but this movie really is well done. Hats off. I enjoy it.

The Magnificent Butcher (1979)

Okay-ish movie from sammo, slightly lower rating because of miscast

Basically the other chubby fatty guy play 2 character, his younger brother & the master. But why not cast proper actor as the master? Because everytime it's fighting scene u can clearly see the master turns into skinny guy not the original chubby guy.

Also have no idea why need to connect story with wong fei hung when WFH only have minor impact in this story. It's like they just use wong fei hung name to attract fans to watch this movie.

All in all 5/10, go watch Jackie chan movie during the same/earlier year (this 1 is 1979) like Drunken Master, Fearless Hyena, Snake in Eagle Shadow. They're way better than this.

Iceman: The Time Traveller (2018)

Well atleast they give a brief summary of what happen in the 1st movie & it looks interesting & I'll try to watch it if it's available on my stream subscription.

I watch this on my Disney+hotstar and I feel bad for those who spend money to watch this disaster at theatre, what a waste of Donnie & all those budget.

The cinematography, costume all good. Action looks good & also bad, the story is all over the place, the pacing is..ugh..it's terrible.

Maybe not 1/10 but closer to 3/10, the +2 is for the beautiful cinematography & action that's it.

For those who rate this 9-10, you guys really think this movie is that great? I think I would've forgotten bout this movie in a few weeks time, just like MiB international. It's okay not that great.

I want to rate it at 5/10 but give it +1 star for the final gunfight scene at the airport.

I waste 1hr watching the movie wondering why all these stars act in this movie but if you read other reviewer here u will know it's because the actors join this movie to help the director.

The final 15mins of the movie is the highlight, just too bad the 1hour prison story didn't really make the audience get into the movie.

The 1st 3 episodes is too long and boring, shouldve cut it to just 2 episode.

Most of my friends drop watching it on 3rd episode I tell em to continue because it does get better on ep4 onwards.

Afterwards the unveiling of main villain and finale is good.

But the ending is meh. You know kinda the end you wrote when you was a kid on your english essay some story and ends it with "suddenly he/she/they woke up and it all were just a bad dream!" ending.

Ugh..

Mr. Long (2017)

Maybe because I've watch a lot of chinese kungfu & other superb action movies like Raid, Man from Nowhere, JohnWick I found this movie's fight scene is so lacking it's laughable. The main actor & actress did well but the extras is too woody it's like a B-movie. Or is it though?

By taiwan standard maybe 7/10 is spot on but since I watch it because imdb give this rating that high I have my expectation high & now I'm disappointed. Oh & it's too long too with 2hrs, should've been 1hr30 or 1hr45.

Hamon: Yakuza Boogie (2017)

Basically this is a buddy movie. Instead of your typical buddy-cop movie we've buddy-yakuza or buddy-gangster movie. Basically a useless guy got roped in to help/follow the yakuza try to get back the money they've lose after getting swindle. Really fun movie didn't expect much at 1st but I managed to finish it and feel that it needs some good review here in imdb (got none at the time I wrote this)

Is it a parody of condor heroes? I've no idea.

All I know is it's that terrible.

Watch it when there's a monthly special of wong kar wai and this movie is in the bundle.

Thank god it wasn't really directed by him because it's abomination!

Oh it's probably directed for chinese speaking because I've no idea or get the jokes in this movie.

Basically I've just waste 2hrs of my life try to understand the jokes but I still can't get it. It's really that bad for non chinese audience!

Derailed (2016)

Good short movie with length like 1hr drama/series.

Straight forward, basically every1 is a mess in this movie eventho the cast is quite famous Korean celebrities.

Just wish the ending be like every1 look down and then still scene & cut to credits.

Maybe it'll be better if it ended like that.

The Sound of a Flower (2015)

I'm a huge Suzy fan but she's not fit to play as lead in this movie. Her vocal aint that good enough to be 1st female master singer whatever the title is. And she's too pretty or modern looking.

Had they pick/choose cast that look ordinary & fit for Joseon classic timeline actress with powerful/good vocal for sing/poet-ish then the movie would be better!

Cinematography is good, the color, costume are great but..Suzy..her face is too modern for old classic tale movie So yeah 5/10 is the best I can give, not sure how it got 100% on tomatometer probably some Suzy fans vote 100% on it.

Pretty good movie not really 10/10 worth but I enjoy it thoroughly.

Since I watch it on TV during this terrible time had my phone on hand and just let the movie play.

I did this most of the time right now but this movie is interesting that it managed to make me concentrate on the movie and stop playing my phone.

Awesome starts, a lil bit mundane in the middle & interesting take on how he gets out like silence of the lamb-ish.

Is it absurd? Maybe. But who cares, it's interesting!

I don't know why there're tons of comments saying there's lil-to-no action.

There're gunfights, prison fights & explosions!

Are this guys want the movie be like transformers explosion every single minute?

The action is plenty enough!

The ending is ok. What else you expect? Happy ending? The guy is fugitive & the feds aren't really saint.

Proper rating would be 7-8/10.

Shaolin Mantis (1978)

I like this movie. Mind you I watch a lot of shaw bros movie during this pandemic & I watch most of em with my phone in hand & this movie actually managed to make me concentrate on movie rather than my phone.

1st of all I don't like the main actor but somehow he's good in this film (he usually play as some1 cocky playboy confident but really good at everything he does) Kinda overwhelm that gordon liu in here is just for opening scene few minutes. That's it just minor character that isn't important at all I would have give this movie 9-10 out of 10 because the story & action is better than most shaw bros movie but that ending is just ugh. All that fight are for nothing. Maybe this is based on true story? Man all those trains undercover spy 💩 is for bad king & that ending just minus the rating of this good movie anyway 6-7 out of 10 aint that bad. I wish it end differently tho.

The Swordsman (2020)

When I post this review, there're already 5 other reviews. 3 of em praising joe taslim the main villain & other 1 praise janghyuk the main character.

Okay here's the main problem. The main villain is from qing dynasty (meaning from china), they could easily hire a chinese or korean (who look more like chinese than taslim) and as much as i like taslim, he's too babyface to be main villain. and he smile too much. The movie would be better if the qing dynasty people speak chinese (and have korean sub) instead of korean. Pretty sure taslim didnt speak korean, they just dub it later on.

Bout janghyuk. for anyone who havent watch his other works, yeah sure he does look like blind man in this movie.. but for anyone who familiar with his work. that's his usual blank expression! -_-

The action, swordsplay was top notch. just like 80-90 chinese kungfu movie. The other casts also spot on, from deceased king, to main girl to the korean villain they all look proper to the timeline of the movie (hate it when the actor have fair skin when they're supposedly have use sword from young age and have no scar on their face/body) just the 2 main char, the hero & villain kinda lacking. Oh and the villain supposedly knew the hero from long time ago, the hero grow old but the badguy just grew mustache and look same age as hero after 20-30years? Come on..

A Bride for Rip Van Winkle (2016)

For me rating should be around 4-5/10. the disconnect of the 1st half with 2nd half i thought there's some clever hidden scheme of why he did it to the main protagonist but we dont have an answer for that so it just remain the answer given "the mother made it" and...i should probably stop here not even bother spoil it but my advise is you guys better spend 3hrs doing other things than watching this movie. i regret watching this movie so badly now

Have a Song on Your Lips (2015)

Maybe a 8/10 is proper rating. The cast is great, an actual kids; like small, thin not a 20+ years old with perfect body(you know like model/muscle boy) acting as a kid. So that's spot on. Their voice are good, the song is good. I actually Google and YouTube just to hear the song repeatedly. Have a little problem with why they add the brother character but it perfectly sums up in the final act. nice. Ok maybe 10/10 was a proper rating for this good movie from me.

I still can't believe how this worst movie can attract so many top actors and they all can't save this movie. Never heard this movie in cinema whatsoever so my guess it's straight to DVD. They even had Rain, a top artist from S.Korea. How the? I'm shocked because S.Korea did produce a lot of good movies and how can Rain agree to be a part of this movie did blow my mind. Did they all get a huge money to act in this B-movie?

Pokémon: Detective Pikachu (2019)

When I hear that there will be a live action Pokemon movie with Ryan Reynolds as Pikachu I was skeptical at 1st. "No way that's gonna work!" my mind said. Then I see the trailer, "Well that's not bad. Somehow Ryan Reynold as Pikachu actually works!" my opinion grew on the movie. But I'm still not convinced on the movie. Because like any other movies, the trailer just show the good part of the movie but when you actually watch the full movie you will get disappointed because of build up expectation from the trailer. And most of the time when movie adapted from game, the end product will be a huge disappointment! But this Pikachu movie really a rare gem of Good Video Game Movie! 10/10! & would buy the DvD or the movie from my TV subscribe.
