Sagarika (1956)
A Bengali Classic
One of the most cherished movies done by the immortal duo-Uttom Kumar & Suchitra Sen. While being a house surgeon in a medical college, 'Arun' (Uttam Kumar) has a misunderstanding over a love letter with a third year medical student, 'Sagarika' (Suchitra Sen), and must leave the college, much to his dismay. Sagarika later finds out that it was not Arun's fault, but Arun has already left the college. Later, Arun's marriage is arranged with 'Basanti' (Jamuna Sinha) , who also happens to be a distant relative of Sagarika. When Arun loses his vision in an accident, Basanti is unable to go to take care of him, and Sagarika takes her place. Unwilling to reveal her identity, Sagarika let's him think it is Basanti, not her. Sagarika learns that he still hates and despises her. Soon it will be time to take bandages off his eyes, and he will be able to see again, much to the dread of Sagarika.
A must watch film for the fan of Uttam-Suchitra.
Bhabhi (1991)
A cliché melodrama
1. it's a typical Hindi movie of the early 90's; however it can also be considered as a film of the 80's because of its treatment with script and its story.
2. It's a cliché story of a family drama where daughter-in-law got tortured by her mother-in-law and some other family members. Naturally, Govinda as a hero played his part to establish justice and most importantly a happy ending.
3. This was most probably one of the last kinds of movies where story circled around the torment of the daughter-in-law at her husband's house. Its a cliché story, with a lot of melodrama. One can watch this movie at his TV on Zee Chenema (sometimes they telecast it) if he has absolutely nothing to do.
Jai Veeru: Friends Forever (2009)
Total wastage of money and time
'Jai Veeru: Friends Forever' is a clear wastage of time & most importantly money. There is no wonder that this film is a total disaster. Well, first of all----
1. This movie has practically no story; it is really hard to say that why the producers had invested their money at this non sense project.
2. All the actors did a pretty horrible job; especially Kunal Khemu was terrible while Fardeen khan was intolerable; all the other actors sank with this unthinkable script.
3. This film scored a total zero from the direction to acting, script, music, dialogue, and practically at everything. One should not try to waste his or her precious time or money by watching this crap.
Raaz 3: The Third Dimension (2012)
Raaz-3...a time pass movie
Why would you want to see Raaz-3? Well, here are the reasons—
1.If you are a horror fan then it may give you quite a good deal of enjoyment.Though the movie is not that much scary, but still worth watching.
2. There are some steamy hot scenes in the movie. Emraan Hashmi did some hot romantic scenes with both Bipasha Basu and Esha Gupta. Specially the scenes between Hashmi & Bipasha (both romantic & conflict) were very enjoyable.
3. Emraan did a decent job while Bipasha just crossed her previous performances with this negative role; Esha did okay job for her second film; overall all the actors did a decent acting job.
4. However, there are some drawbacks in the movie—like cliché dialogues, predictable finishing and moral conflict of Hashmi which has become a common phenomenon at his films nowadays. Moreover, the film gets a bit slow after the second half. The audience should not try to find much logic in this film.
It's a time pass movie; one can enjoy Raaz 3 if he just wants to chill for some time.
Dabangg (2010)
Full entertainment
Why anyone would want to see Dabang? Well, there are some strong valid reasons behind it-----
1. If anyone is a 'Salman Khan' fan, then obviously it's a 'Must Watch' film for him. This is one of the best performances by him (after this film, he is known as the 'DabangKhan'). Salman's acting, action, screen presence- all are at a full volume in Dabang.
2. It's a movie of entertainment; one will enjoy every bit of it if he wants to get entertained. It will be unwise if anyone tries to find out too much logic at every scene. It is not a movie for the overly intellectual audience. Although I did not much illogical aspects apart from the action of the film; but a 'Salman Khan Movie' needs to have this kinds of action.
3. Sonakshi Sinha, the heroine of the movie really glowed at her debut film. She & Salman had shown a great chemistry at the romantic scenes. Apart from that, the other cast members did a great job. Specially, Sonu Sood as Chedi Singh really rocked throughout the movie.
4. The music of this film is also give pleasure to one's ear and who can forget the famous item song-'Munni Badnam Hui' & Malaika's beautiful dance on that number.
Lastly, it's a movie to entertain people; intellectual audience can overlook this movie but indeed 'Dabang' is a movie of total enjoyment.
The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
A great disappointment
I don't like this movie in spite of being a huge (Batman is my most favorite super hero) fan of Batman. There are some reasons behind that-----
1) The Dark Knight is one of my most favorite movies of all time and a comparison definitely came into my mind while I was watching this movie. Honestly speaking, The Dark Knight Rises is not 30% of its legendary predecessor. The action, script, villain and even the Batman was highly disappointing and cliché comparing with the Dark Knight.
2) I do not know what was Nolan thinking while making this movie? Is it a Batman movie or a normal crime genre? The movie was 2 hours and 45 minutes long and Batman was suited in costume may be less than 20 minutes. The great action sequences of Batman which were found in the previous two parts are almost completely vanished at the last one. Batman was presented merely as a clown at costume who boxes like a petty boxer all the time and got ass kicked by Bane during the first encounter (getting ass kicked is not my point; my point is that the action encounter between Bane & Batman was pretty lame & Boring). Seriously, the action sequences and the screen presence time of suited Batman will disappoint any hardcore Batman fan.
3) The movie had a lot of loose ends which were tried to join at the end of the movie which had made the script a really lame one. A lot of things had just happened without any logical explanation. The way police officers fought with the gang-stars at the end of the movie was really ridiculous. It is 2012 not 1812. Nowadays, Police don't run with guns at their hands. Seriously, who wrote the action scenes?
4) The second encounter between Batman & Bane was even lamer than the first one. The most ridiculous thing was the way Batman defused the bomb. It actually reminds me a cartoon of Papaya; only a seven years old kid can think of this type of ending. A nuclear bomb blasted but nothing happened to Batman; how's that possible; seriously, did cartoon play the main inspiration behind this type of ending?
5) Bane was a disappointment too. It will be totally unwise to compare Bane with Joker as Joker played by Heath Ledger is really untouchable. Bane was much cliché even than Batman Begin's Ducard (played by Liam Neeson). I don't think that Bane was the right choice to be as the main villain (there was another main villain too, but that was just a part of surprise) as Bane lacked a lot of interesting characteristics than the other villains of Batman. Bane was boring rather than fearsome throughout the movie.
6) I don't know which one is the lamest one ---the goofy script, 3rd graded action sequences, flat villain like Bane, Unbatly Batman, or the director Nolan?
I really wanted to like (or love) this movie; but it came to me with a huge disappointment. The Dark Knight is at my top 5 list; The Dark Knight Rises will not enter even at the top 80.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 (2011)
Can hardly be better than this
It is indeed a grand ending, an ending of a saga, an ending of the story which holds multiple generations of both young and adult. The ending of this great series can hardly be better than this. All the actors acted brilliantly at the last part of the epic and almost everybody crossed their previous performances. Especially Daniel Radcliffe wonderfully depicted the inner struggle of Harry Potter. Tears came into my eyes when Snape (Alan Rickman) was holding his beloved Lily Potter's dead body in total despair. Rupert and Emma did an excellent job too. Steve Kloves's screenplay is simply great however the final fight between Harry and Voldemort could have been more dramatic. David Yates has given his best shot although I liked the Half Blood Prince a little bit more because of its story-telling or just may be that was a better book than The Deathly Hallows. Again, the ending of this immensely popular series can hardly be better than this. Being a huge fan of Harry Potter series I must admit that the makers did a complete justice with the original story. One last thing I must say that I think both of The Deathly Hollows (Part 1 and 2) surpassed the J.K. Rowling's novel by holding viewer's interest till the end which was not possible with the last six parts as the books from Philosopher's Stone to Half Blood Prince were too damn good. Deathly Hollows (the novel) is quite good but surprisingly I found the movies of Deathly Hollows (especially part 2) more entertaining.
