Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman (1993)
good show
I liked the show very much. It had a good storyline and the characters were pretty diverse. Hank was my favorite. The town saloon owner. He was unsavory but came thru in pinches . He called dr quinn by her first name , something no one else did.
Sully and Dr. Mike had a good relationship. Not too syrupy. And Loren the general store owner was so crabby but soft at the same time.
The only character i did not like was Brian, the little boy. He was given these pushy lines and was just a general pain . Too adult for his age . I did not like most any scene he had a major role in bc of that aggressiveness.
Sex and the City (1998)
Immature women are annoying
I started out liking these women but as time goes on find their immature behavior annoying. The writers just rode a wave without updating the characters. What worked in the beginning doesnt seem to work years later.
Four women that are in their mid 30s and older and their fear of commitment is great when they are in early 30s but just sad and annoying by mid 30s. They look old and act like they are still 21. Especially the female lead, Carrie, who has a great man in Aiden (love John Corbett) and doesnt want to marry him just doesnt want him to marry anyone else. She is selfish and doesnt deserve him.
Mr Big is more her style bc he is equally selfish.
Charlotte is another example of being selfish. She is unable to get pregnant and puts a lot of pressure on her husband because of it. He can walk away and find a younger woman wo a fertility issue and she does not seem to appreciate his patience.
Samantha and her cavalier attitude about sex is ridiculous considering she is in her 40s and getting older. She doesnt seem to realize that a time coming soon where she appeals to fewer and fewer men.
Miranda seems less annoying than the rest for some reason and I find her less annoying. I dont know why.
I love John Corbett as Aiden and he is way too good for Carrie. I wish he would dump her...I am in late season 4 so I expect she will force him to flee her selfish lack of commitment even tho she has his engagement ring around her neck. She doesnt cook and she doesnt like animals and her blind and toal commitment to her 3 friends is so childish. AND HE BOUGHT HER Apartment for her and the one next door!!! He is crazy to even like her. She is so not worth it.
Then they go to a party w sailors that looked like they could be sons to any one of them........the premise is getting more and more sad. Older women w a dwindling single male pool that gets smaller every year. And these women just dont see it.
GROW UP ladies.
Das Signal (2024)
So Boring
I keep watching bc it is only 4 episodes and I want to see if anything comes out of it but so far I am bored. I have no idea what is happening . I think a signal is found in space and it is moving closer to earth. That is how boring it is. I can't maintain attention long enough to know the plot.
I dont know who the three men in space with the mom are. The husband seems to live pretty humbly for a man with an astronaut for a wife.
Women keep showing up in his life and I dont know who they are.
Pretty poor movie. I wish I hadn't started to watch and I hope Netflix sees this review and avoids movies like this in the future.
The Tourist (2022)
interesting Storyline but...
Interesting storyline but some of the characters were annoying. Specifically Helen the female lead and her exboyfriend, Ethan Krum. Ethan is written to be annoying so I think he did a good job.
But with Helen, this seems another of Hollywood's push to make the public accept black is white and up is down.
It was hard to believe such a fit guy fell for an extremely overweight girl, although she has a cute face. Alot of it is how they dress her. Rather sloppy looking which accents her weight. But let's get real.. there is a trend of casting the lead female as a heavy set girl coupled with an extremely fit man. Something you dont see very often in real life.
Her original boyfriend was Ethan and that was a good fit. Something you would see in real life. Hollywood is just pushing us too far. We are not blind and I refuse to accept it.
So for me, it was hard to watch because of that.
Aquarius (2015)
Drew me in
I loved seeing David Duchovny again. He was his cool and collected self. The show uses events that occurred in the 60s and how much is real and how much is made up is hard to tell but it was very entertaining. I would normally never watch a show like this but I am glad I did. I hope they continue it.
David Duchovny is just that good.
The kind of ended it abruptly but you could guess the outcome and since the history is there we know how it ultimately ended for the Manson clan.
I was sorry the show ended. It had me binging on it. Also liked the Brian character who was originally an undercover cop.. he did a great job.
Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County (2004)
kind of ridiculous
The girls are all very attractive and the boys not as much but the girls seem to think they have to take the neglect and poor treatment of the boys. Can this be even close to real life? Not as I remember it.
It is a little too shallow to be good. There are too many people and it is hard to keep them all straight.
No one seems to have future plans for college. Or at least they are not spoken and the band that gets a recording contract is just bad.
So on the whole, it is hard to take this show seriously. It could have been very good. It had the bones for it but they just tried to do too much.
Falling for Figaro (2020)
Hard to Believe
The storyline is difficult to believe bc the romantic leads do not seem suited to one another.
The casting for the female lead does not seem plausible. The love story is not a slow burn but seems to happen way too fast for the couple. She is not the typical female lead to be matched with a typical male lead.
This is the second netflix movie i have seen this in and it ruins the story for me.
What is happening in the casting dept nowadays?
I guess the good thing is she does not seem to have self esteem issues for being extremely overweight and I suppose the audience is supposed to just go along with it all.
I dont get it.
Rita (2012)
Well done
Different type of storylines than i am used to and I really liked it. I liked the characters and was fascinated on how broken the main character is.
The storyline goes in unusual directions and kept me interested in what was going to happen next.
Rita has a big heart and a lack of dedication at the same time. How that plays out is fascinating. Her kids seem normal so how did that happen?
The question comes to pass as to whether she can actually love anyone but she does. She loves her kids and she does love a man who is good to her. Shock, shock bc you wonder if she can appreciate such a man.
This Is Us (2016)
Why do people like this?
It started out interesting but once the kids were grown it became annoying. Its the same old same old formula they use on all new entertainment. Mixed race couples, lgbtq theme and a people throwing up. You can count on those 3 things happening on any newer show.
Frankly, i am tired of it. This show mirrors no ones family.
I disliked the adopted son because he became tiresome and had some real issues with control..
the overweight daughter was all about her weight and her parents did not seem to be worried that she might have a medical issue.
Kevin the third child seemed lost and not knowing what he wanted.
All hard to understand when they had such great parents.
I just got tired of it. I was watching to say I finished what i started but i the end I stopped on season 4.
Somehow this show turned into some kind of racial statement and not entertaining at all. I dont want to be preached to.
The Nest (2020)
i saw no point to it
It seemed semi interesting in the beginning but quickly became confusing. I did not get the point of the movie.
Wife sees her husband is a fraud. They have no money. Her horse dies from some mysterious disease they never explain.
No resolution or denouement. It just ends and leaves us hanging. I wondered the point of it. The acting was good. I always love Jude Law but he had nothing to work with. It just came to an abrupt end.
Judes step daughter cared more about him then his wife did.
Horse is not buried correctly i find from reading a plot synopsis on wikipedia but at the veiwing i was unsure if he hadn't really died and had somehow tried to unbury himself.. it was that confusing.
Beauty and the Beast (2012)
I love this show
The storyline is very good and the acting and casting is perfect. I am rewatching it and can't stop binging. I wish more shows were as good as this one and wish it would return to Netflix.
I am currently watching it on youtube which has so many ads but i still watch.
Vincent is a great concept character and very plausible story of how he became a beast. Intertwined with Catherine character of being daughter of dr who turned him into a beast is clever.
I also find TJ and Tess very interesting sidekicks who ad comedy relief.
I love a good love story. This is definitely worth a watch. I am glad i found it.
My Life with the Walter Boys (2023)
Great Love Triangle
Great storyline but they need to make Alex look older and less youthful to really pull it off. If they dressed him less youthful, changed his hair cut and had him work out a bit, he's there. Good looking guy but they need to make him some competition for Cole.
I get it, they want to portray Alex as safe compared to dangerous Cole but they went too far.
Also Jackie looked so sophisticated in first scene and then they made her look so plain and childish too... I would like to see more NY edge to her..
Also, it is plain that Jackie comes from money yet it appears that her parents estate is not kicking in to support her. That seems unrealistic.
I had to binge the show 3 times to figure out who everyone living in the house is.
I am bored by most of the side stories going on. That of Will and Haily has no interest for me.
Other than that, I love the show.
