Chernobyl: The Lost Tapes (2022)
Riveting footage. Bringing light to the reality.
Warning: there are some disturbing scenes of the biological effects of radiation poisoning and genetic malformations for those sensitive to those images.
This documentary shows video footage of actual events the HBO drama series Chernobyl trued to recreate. It iis disturbing yet enlightening. Well worth seeing if this event has captured your attention over the years.
I do think its easier to follow if you've seen the HBO docudrama first and especially if you've read the book the series was based on.
Highly recommended as an exposé on how governments can cover the truth too.
Once Upon a River (2019)
Intriguing characters. Outstanding River scenes and sounds.
Saw this at the Woodstock Film Festival at its New York Premiere and glad I came out in the rain to see it. The Nature cinematography alone makes it worth the trip to the theater. You feel like you're at the river including the sounds of the outdoors. Music soundtrack is soft and minimal so the sounds of the river can come through.
The story is a bit dark as this young girl looks for her mother to escape her cruel reality. Lots of warm moments as she connects with various characters along the way.
It makes you care for these people and give hope for Margo's destiny.
Her adopted friend Smoke ( John Ashton) steals the scenes and provides sprinkles of humor to lighten the mood.
Delicious (2016)
Light hearted yet rich fare
Yes the story is simple and straightforward but very watchable for the scenery and music. The lovely Cornwall countryside eminently soothing and the food looks delectable when it's sprinkled in at unpredictable intervals. The dialogue can be smart and witty, especially from the widow's mother. Also easily understood by American viewers! Sit back and enjoy as a bit of indulgent dessert and maybe bring along a dish for yourself.
