Hats Off to Christmas! (2013)
Finally a decent Hallmark film
While I wouldn't call this one amazing, it's certainly a nice one to watch for the winter season. I've watched A LOT of Hallmark holiday films and this one isn't as cheesy as some of the others airing this time of year. The acting is good to start with, at least by all the main actors. Some of the supporting could use a few more acting classes. Unlike other Hallmarks where the main couple seem to fall in love with a few days to a few weeks, this one has a more logical time-line, which makes the story a little more believable. The only question i have is how quickly the main male lead changes his tune. You'll understand when you watch.
All in all, cute and simple, something to watch while decorating for the holidays or while waiting for the holiday meal to be done cooking.
Holiday Engagement (2011)
Good concept but horrid writing
When I heard the concept it I remembered me of a blockbuster film that came out several years before this one that did very well...but this one, with the weird set up, the overly judgmental mother and lack luster acting...
This is becoming a staple of Hallmark films the past 5 years or so. For every good film there's like 10 bad ones, and this one was bad.
In the end it wasn't even worth using as background noise because every time I would hope the scene I wanted was gonna get better...it got worse. Only ONE good scene in the whole film, took near the end of the film... wasn't worth it.
The Lost Room (2006)
Am I the only one who didn't like this???
DO NOT READ MY REVIEW IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED THE SERIES TO THE END!!!! From the start it became clear the people who wrote this must've been trying to fight being religious and scientific, which in one way was interesting, but because The Event, which the WHOLE series is based around is never explained it ends up killing the whole show. We have no clue about why the objects do what they do, and with how the show ended with a cliff-hanger of sorts it left far too many questions and not enough answers. Like what happened to Ruber or Miller...shame. Maybe they had thought they were gonna have the option to do a full series or another mini series and it didn't happen. In the end i feel like I wasted a lot of time.
Alien Predator (1986)
More like a comedy than a horror
This came across as exactly what I'd expected, low budget 80s b-movie, one of those ones that seems like they shot over a week's vacation. The reason I'm giving this 5/10 is because there were a much of scenes that were downright funny. Though that's not a good thing for a horror most of the time. Luckily the reason why I was laughing was because of some of the stuff Dennis Christopher said or did, like running after the RV and when he gets in "We can go now." You'd have to watch to see why that would be funny. Or him joking with the chick who plays Sam over a bl*wjob. I get a very strong feeling he thought up those lines and now the writers as the rest of the writing was pretty bad. The only disgusting scene was right in the beginning. Also it was pretty clear someone had a thing for The Twilight Zone with thing like the Talking Tina doll reference...twice...and it's also mentioned several times. In the end though it's still worth a watch when you've got nothing better to do or like one or more of the actors in it.
