Jism 2 (2012)
Why I gave it a 8
I know many people might not agree with me, you have already been brain washed by paid reviewers like Times of India. Unlike what they say, it is not a bad movie, in certain aspects it is brilliant.
A few points is a must before you enjoy this film.
1. You should have fallen in love, and lost it. You should have to understand pain to know this movie.
2. Great censor board of India has done its shitty job as not to allow the real scenes to be shown and spoil the brilliance of love making. To be real a man and woman have to go nude, if you want family drama go watch Disney movie.
3. Most of the reviewers in the press are paid, they are bull shitting.
4. Creative people are a bit mad and dint really go by what market enjoys. Bhatts are like that, i respect them for that.
Now let me tell you what aspects are brilliant.
1. Location: Just wow! Shot in Sri Lanka, the resort in heavenly. Each corner is designed so beautifully. The film manages to capture this beauty. Colours, shot angles, brilliant cinematography
2. Randeep is brilliant in his role. His voice is perfect and stood out. I am a big fan from today.
3. Sunny is brilliant. It is presumed porn stars cant act. Give her a break, for a first film that too in a foreign country like India, she has done a great job. I truly respect her for that. And to be honest she has better looks then most actresses of today, her beautiful eyes, rich mane, flawless skin, and a aura of maybe painful history she has behind her. No matter what anyone says including her, no one is willingly happy in porn industry. Lets hope she makes it put of it and turns to roles that suit her brilliant looks.
4. Dialogues specially Randeep's were brilliant at places, they had depth. A sad but powerful rendering of what the hero had to say.
5. Emotions: You really need to go through life to understand a Bhatt movie, if you have they are a treat. No one in Hindi movie industry does portrayal of emotions as brilliantly as Bhatts do. I wonder how wealthy in emotions they must be to find it and show it on screen. True love is such a complex emotion that it is impossible to define it for anyone, but Bhatts have tried their best and most part succeeded.
Watch it with a open heart.... You will be in for a treat. For rest go watch Govinda movies.
The Story of India (2007)
I wish 'History' were taught this way.
a) Amazing never seen visuals.
b) Powerful all engaging presentation.
c) A honest interest in the subject of India.
d) On location shooting of the narrative subject matter.
e) Great background score.
f) Balanced and well researched topics, which have lessons for world as a whole.
I can go on listing points of greatness of this great work. Wish Michael Wood was my history teacher! I would have definitely majored in History.
If you really want to experience 'time travel' don't watch science fiction movies... just watch this series, you will be amazed. Take my word for it.
Seven Pounds (2008)
I did cry after watching this movie
The great bit about story telling is that, it should make the silliest of ideas to seem true. This movie does that.
Like any of Will Smith's movies it has depth to its performances.
Usually I like humor, mostly nonsensical kind, with a large dose of action. But there are this rare moments of intellectual awakening in me, it is at these moments that I crave for movies that address my longing for a class of movies that have a wonderful story, plays with the emotions, and for a moment at least, makes you get lost in the movie. This movie does that with a flow which is gentle yet smooth and continuous.
Watch it when you are alone and are at peace, preferably at night. If that fits your plan tonight, then definitely watch it. It will be worth it.
Mr. Singh/Mrs. Mehta (2010)
A Mature film meant for mature audience.
This is NOT a movie for a regular audience of 'Hindi Film Industry'. If you want to leave behind your brains at home and watch stupid 'Govinda' kind of movie, then please stay away.
If you liked Arth (1982)(http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083578/ ) remember the song "Tum Itna Jo Muskura Rahe Ho", then you will like this movie. You need a mood to taste a mature and adult theme.
If you have a bit of patience, are not judgmental without reason and would want to give the film to develop itself to be a 'drama' that appeals to your intellect, then please watch this.
It has a very creative plot and grows in a very realistic and practical way. The subject of relationship between a man and a women have been treated in a mature way. There is nice use of colour, locations and beautiful nudity (without being disturbing the audience).
Music is soothing and blends well with the theme and situation. Most of it is ghazal. I wont mind buying the CD.
Actors have done a good work. I say this again there is patience involved in watching this movie, if you give it a chance, you will truly be rewarded with a refreshingly nice film to come out of Hindi Film Industry.
If you are from India, I would request you to understand that the movie is not made in India, and characters, actors, locations will have a mix of the western culture that this movie comes from. Look at it with a objective outlook before criticising it.
Interesting films like this one and Arth are really missed in today's age of 'Golmaal movies' Audience are repeatedly treated to trash and brainless humor. Don't be a dummy, prefer your intellect and emotions to be treated with respect, when you pay such heavy ticket prices.
Definitely watch this if this genre of movies appeals to you.
