Inheritance (2020)
This is why their agenda will fail
Laughable. Simon Pegg must have had to take one on for the team. Nothing short of humiliating for a man of his talent to be involved in something as dire as this.
Get Santa (2014)
This wouldn't get made today!
This film demonstrates just how much the world has changed. I couldn't believe it was made so recently. I won't say more except my youngest son loved it.
Only the Brave (2017)
If you're a very emotional person that doesn't question anything you see this is you.
What happened to these brave men is tragic and worthy of a documentary to tell their story, not a movie for entertainment.
This film understandably portrays everyone in a positive light, their flaws are shown but in a very sympathetic way.
There isn't much of a story arc, we're introduced to and shown glimpses of some of the Hot Shots so that we feel an attachment to them and then we are shown their tragic demise.
The fact that something like these events actually happened gives the film some poignancy, however, trying to base a movie on a one-hit emotional response leaves you feeling like someone wasted over two hours of your time with a cheap attempt of to manipulate your feelings.
Just watch Oblivion again, and hope that Top Gun 2 is given a better treatment.
Hunter Prey (2010)
Gem in the Sand
Hunter Prey looks like a labour of love, and the love put into it just bursts out of the screen, you can't help but love it right back. It has an old fashioned hand made feel, in spite of the very acceptable CG.
It seems to borrows both in looks and feel from the original Star Wars Trilogy and Warhammer 40K. The armoured aliens have Boba Fett-esque styled outfits, with storm trooper like sound effects when they speak. All of the costume, design and look of the film are very easy on the eye.
This films boasts a cracking graphic novel type story line delivered by solid acting performances. In my opinion, whilst personally I wouldn't change a thing, given a big movie star and a bigger budget, Sandy Collora could have a blockbuster here.
Brilliant work that Sci Fi and film buffs will really enjoy.
Ultramarines: A Warhammer 40,000 Movie (2010)
Warhammer Hits the Nail on the Head!
I think this film is 100% faithful to it's source material, which was a brave step, and may alienate the mainstream a little. This in my opinion was well worth while, because to a fan of the old Games Workshop franchise this film was all I could have hoped that it would be.
I found the animation really appealing and an ideal route to use. The voice overs chosen were perfect, especially the great John Hurt. I loved the way the story went full circle, it worked just like a good graphic novel which I understand is writer Dan Abnett's day job. Fans of 40K won't be disappointed in my opinion.
I couldn't stop smiling with every bolter shot!
