Standoff (2006)
This Show simply doesn't make the cut.
This show simply is not good. For a show built off of the concept of not only a standoff between the hostage takers and the negotiators, but also between the negotiators themselves there is a serious lack of any chemistry. The characters of Matt and Emily lack chemistry. While the show attempts to make us care for the two and want to support them as we see them work together and fight to not only save the hostages AND their relationship, we could care less because there is no energy between them. Also there have been comments about the writing being formulaic. They are dead on. If by chance the two leads showed some semblance of chemistry then the show might serve another purpose of entertainment, getting two see what the two hostage negotiators get themselves into. It reminds me of the show House without the magic of Hugh Laurie. Formulaic with no strong character to fall back on and make us interested. I have to say, the show has already jumped the shark in the first season once Matt and Emily became hostages in Mexico, and to be honest, I didn't really care if they were saved or not.
Dark Water (2005)
Evil ghosts who are desperate for attention...where have we seen that before...
This movie was just bad. Its so bad that its not even funny. Its a well made bad movie. There is no fear. There is no horror. There is pretty much nothing but boredom. It takes a tired genre and just repeats everything that has been done before, but much more lame. I mean how scary can water be? Seriously! I haven't seen the original Dark Water my self, but I am so confused as why if it was good enough to remake, why not just release the original in theatres. The movie was like tofu, bland, and without substance. It may look neat at first, but after the first bite you regret buying it. I think the best scene was her in the laundry room. It was a riot. I seriously connected with her situation. I have been scared to death doing laundry myself. And that face in the machine. Wow. I don't know why I am writing this comment, being the movie isn't even worth this many words, guess I'm bored, I'm going to fix my brain and watch Daredevil.
Confidence (2003)
The film is original, clever, yet excuted poorly
The film is original, clever, yet excuted poorly. Exposition is terrible. The only truly great thing in the film, besides the originality, is the Dustin Hoffman character which leaves you wishing for him to have more screen time. Its so unfortuante that not enough detail appears to be put towards the details of the story.
