Enemy Territory (1987)
Great stuff for those who miss the drive-in...
Though made in 1987, 'Enemy Territory' most resembles a drive-in exploitation movie from the seventies. Silly script, over-acting by all concerned, non-stop action and a dated 'urban' soundtrack all mean one thing - FUN!!! I've seen this countless times now, but enjoy it at every viewing. Pretty hard to find (and still no DVD release) but worth it for those seeking a 'drive-in' fix......8/10
Troll (1986)
The best of the Gremlins rip-offs...
Another movie that seems to get an unfair deal from the 'critics' on the IMDb....This movie was my favourite when I was a teenager - I'd watch it over 'Gremlins' any day. The script is pure fairytale, Richard Band's score is delightful, & the cast was probably superior to Joe Dante's 'other' monster movie. The fx have dated badly (though Turok the troll is still impressive) but 'Troll' still ranks as one of my favourite guilty pleasures. I say give it a try....8/10.
Eliminators (1986)
Good Family Sci-Fi...
Saw this recently for the first time in over a decade....I think the movie deserves a higher rating than the one currently on the IMDb. Some of the effects are great considering the budget (the only exception being the poorly realised 'SPOT' robot). Andrew Prine & Roy Dotrice were great fun, and the script was both funny and pretty well structured.
Perhaps if the movie had received a PG rating rather than a 15 in the UK, people wouldn't be so down on it, as this is at heart good family entertainment for all ages.....7/10
