All Creatures Great & Small (2020)
Destroy the Christmas episode
Beautifully done and a real tribute to the original books. As a lifelong fan of the books I can say this dramatisation is the best adaptation. The characters are almost perfect and the a script and acting a delight.
But and this is a big but, the Christmas 'will they, won't they' wedding episode is awful! Badly written and directed. It's a mess. Not true to the original storyline either. Please wipe it and pretend it never happened.
Having said that, looking forward to more adventures in the Dales.
Burn Motherfucker, Burn! (2017)
Compulsive and relevant
This is a powerful documentary that explains the African American struggle to just exist in LA with a factual none glamorous approach that I found compulsive viewing. Interviews from both sides effectively shed light on the situation. From the graphic opening scene of a street execution of a homeless man, to the father who had to tell his 12 year old son how to survive when meeting a policeman, it was powerful. I found myself deeply moved. Well done to all involved in this depiction of historical and sadly still current situation.
Star Trek: Picard (2020)
What a waisted opportunity
Clunky writing, jarring cliches ( cigar smoking, whiskey drinking, hard as nails, unlikeable ship's captain ) and painfully slow. This is Star Trek, apparently. We don't need vaping, ill fitting costumes, or swearing. You're alienating people who want quality tv, fans and their kids!
