Welcome to the Jungle (2007)
Awful.... Awful, Awful, Awful!
Quite simply one of the worst movies I have ever seen. I work in a video store, and being that I get movies free I thought I'd rent this on the basis that: a) I don't have to pay any money & b) it's directed by Jonathan Hensleigh, who I feel has produced some good stuff in the past. The movie started off OK, then just snowballed downhill. I noticed there was no screenwriter credited.....mainly because there was no screenplay to speak of, and all the dialogue sounded improvised anyway. The movie promises lots and delivers very little. The ending is abysmal, and virtually nothing happens...period! The two couples bitch and moan at each other, then the ones you want to see go, get snuffed out, and the other couple get rescued by the 'friendly' natives, as opposed to the cannibalistic ones that were stalking them for the last 15 Min's of the movie. Absolute tripe...steer well clear!
The Limey (1999)
Beautiful and touching.
Excellent movie. What I loved about it is how Terence Stamp's character portrays a real sense of regret. He regrets how he lived his life, how he never really knew his daughter. You can see in is facial expressions that he wishes he lived a different life, not one rife with crime, but a straight life, one where he was a real father. He sees getting revenge as a way of making it up to his daughter, and putting his own tortured soul at ease.
I love the way he uses cockney rhyming slang, and none of the other characters have a clue what he is talking about.
All in all, a wonderful movie. I went in not knowing what to expect and I was floored.
The Martins (2001)
Funny and Moving!A gem of a movie!
WARNING-----------------------WARNING
********************SPOILERS****************************** I saw this movie on sattalite last year and was bowled over. It's a funny and touching film about a family that live on a council estate and struggle to make ends meet.Lee Evans (mousehunt) plays the father of said family who is sick of not being able to even take his wife an kids on holiday,so he steals one.Watch it to know what i'm on about. It has some memroable quotes especially from Ray Winstone (Ripleys Game) Such as:"Why does your dad want a childrens entertainer, when he's already a f***ing clown himself?" Brilliant!!! All in all a great movie which I reccomend.
