Star Wars: The Bad Batch (2021)
A Cartoon Star Wars More Adult than any star wars film ever. Just amazing!
It's hard to describe how The Bad Batch is so amazing compared to the truly cartoon like star wars live action films
They never knew what they wanted to be but family drama with little to no dark edges
Finally there is some thing I never thought would happen
a star wars series that has been excited for every episode that arrives , sad when a season ends and anxious to find out if it's been renewed
every season so far has been great, there is heart, there is soul, and there are some truly funny moments but all with a very human touch
battle scenes are great, and story line, expecially the story arch fantastic
I really do hope this will keep going and what ever happens, the end will be satisfying
Bravo, and well done!
Sniper. The White Raven (2022)
Incredible, powerful, and honest about the brutal occupation
Not much one can say here
The occupation
the murder and rape
and one mans journey to fight for his country, the best that he can
wonderful filming and touching.
In fact, lets call it heartbreaking.
The Green Knight (2021)
Refreshing change to see a director make a film
Look
This is no marvel or big explosion film.
If you want to see Giant Lizards thrash whole cities, or Boss Level villains hurl school buses, this is not for you
If you like the kardashians or big brother ... this is not for you.
Or zombies, or vampires, or robots with lasers. This is not for you.
Its a simple film. It takes it's time. Is it Arthouse? Possibly not.
Just stop with the "I don't like." NOT everything is made for you.
I watch all sorts of films, and this was a lovely refreshing film that is somewhat magical.
Shadowplay (2020)
Low score? This was pretty good!
There are few series (almost none) of the aftermath of the fall of Berlin and the madness and hell that ensued.
This in set in 1946, as the early stages of clearing the city begins and Berlin is already devided into the 4 sectors
On the one hand. It is a simple story. Maybe a little naive. But its pacing was near perfect and its been a while since series compelled me to binge watch
Yes, perhaps the 3 plot lines were too much
and none being strong enough.
And maybe it was just nice to see a different setting
but acting was good and there was feeling to it.
A good enough watch for a terrible time that maybe has been a little sanitised.
Shadow and Bone (2021)
Shows up Dark Materials for the travesty that it is
I never read the Shadow and Bones Books > so clean slate going in
(DO NOYT WATCH THE TRAILER > It tells the whole freaking story!!)
All in all, solid cast, impressive sets, and mysterious
Perhaps weak in continuation and gave the big reveals early on > but for someone hard to please I give my votes on the basis of
> was I really excited jumping into the next episode
> Did I feel my week was missing something now it was over
yes to both
and good enough for me.
Sh'at Neila (2020)
Embarrassing
A bunker with no slit holes? Instead of taking up decent positions on the hill, they hide in this bunker whimpering and waiting for people to throw grenades in?
The whining, the whimpering, the eating food at the front, the causal parents and girlfriends wondering about to visit/find soldiers, blatant use of unsecure comms to hold conversations
dreadful.
Panipat (2019)
HAHAHA - The Cannon Battle!
When the tiny Afghan Cannons, mounted on the backs of CAMELS!!!!
Have the power and force of:
> a full on B-52 Bomber Squadren Carpet Bombing attack
> An all out cluster bomb attack
> A full artillery barrage of from a Multiple Launch Rocket System
> and what looks like a chemical warfare attack with Agent Orange ...
ALL COMBINED
ooooh the shame of exaggeration ... the shame
The Gifted (2017)
Destined to go steadily downwards like The 100
Read about it and thought should give it a go
1st episode promising
4th episode in? I can see where this will end up. Like The 100, this show does not know what it wants to be. For adults or teens.
This is not a visual feast or has the high-end thinking of Legion, which frankly was very bold television
The Gifted is that kinda annoying cheesy badly written script, bad acting, implausible story lines with gaping holes, bad effects (almost ancient CGI), poorly drawn out characters, not one character that you feel an affinity for.
In a world of Peak TV, where every episode counts to retain audiences, The Gifted is a lame inclusion on the week's schedule.
The sort of "maybe if I give it a few episodes it will get better" approach is just begging for that inevitable point, where you wished you could have the wasted hours back.
It may get renewed, but that would just mean another series that limps towards a sudden axe from the studio, leaving everyone frustrated.
Pearl Harbor: The Accused (2016)
Not so bad as previous reviewer says
Actually, in 1812 Canada was British
It was the British who burned the White House down
Furthermore, the British forces were launched from bases in Bermuda
The attacks on the East Coast of the America, including Washington, were intended to draw American forces away from the Canadian frontier.
I have not watched all of the documentary but it's OK.
I just felt that I needed to correct the previous reviewer
After all, s/he was saying that this documentary was factually incorrect.
Which is a shame when s/he was also factually incorrect.
Fear the Walking Dead: The Good Man (2015)
What a Load of crap at the end
SPOILER! (My First ever review because I am so annoyed!)
1) release 1000s and 1000s of zombies to free two family members?
2) The soldiers firing hundreds of rounds and the bullets not hitting the zombies due to deflection on the fence
THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A TURKEY SHOOT
All they needed to do was use the handy fence put a barrel through at head height and every round would have killed 4 zombies and the whole lot would have been dead ... or at least the could have taken out 1000s of them
It was bad enough the acting was poor, none of the characters are really lovable
There was a bit of a build up and the setting was different from TWD
BUT THIS FINALE MADE ME WANT TO KICK THE TV :(
Shame ... but I hate idiocy in plot lines and really; who would release 40,000 zombies to save a family member ... sheeesh TERRIBLE
