Ghostbusters (2016)
Unfunny comedy reboot
My title here says it all. But honestly this movie was such a crumby cash grab. The main characters are all dumb and the men are much dumber and I mean really, literally stupid. If it were a female version legit to be contrary to the original ghostbusters then it should be actually funny and be intelligent. It's been a couple years now since I last hate watched this movie and there are no memorable scenes coming to mind. The best part of the movie was the first five seconds before we understood the direction this movie was headed in. Ultimately this is a fun movie for two year olds. It's such a missed opportunity to make a really great movie based on existing media.
Doctor Sleep (2019)
The Hat
If you wanted a fun ride through nostalgia and excellent storytelling, then you must look no further. This movie masterfully connects both Stephen Kings original writings of The Shining and Doctor Sleep while also connecting Stanley Kubricks version of The Shining. The leader of the True Knot is fantastic and lovable as a villain. A must watch if you liked The Shining. It's literally a direct sequel while maintaining the integrity of the books. If you have a hard time with violence, you may want to watch something easier to digest. There is so much happening here that you honestly should go read the book after you watch this. Hoping for another sequel.
The Walking Dead: The Suicide King (2013)
You still have me.
This was a good episode. Had some good gore and zombie kills. Daryl's decision to leave the group I think played well to his character. While I will miss Daryl's interaction with the group, I feel certain that we have not seen the last of him.
The way the governor is behaving now seems much more like the governor in the comic, which was a problem I was beginning to have with the character in the TV show thus far, but its starting to hash out nicely.
Andrea needs to hurry up and see what the governor is about and move on and away from him. She is too smart and important to Rick's group to stay on the governors side.
Rick is losing it, seeing visions of Lori and freaking out in front of possible new group members. Plus he should have shaken Tyreese's hand, that was rude not offering the handshake which is not in Rick's character.
Hershel was a little cold towards the new small group saying that they will see what happens when Rick shows up, only to act completely different when Rick is all NO and contradicts him in front of them. Confusing.
Carol has become a pleasure to watch on the show finally, something that she never did in the comic where she was quite annoying.
I am definitely looking forward to what the next episode will offer.
American Horror Story: Madness Ends (2013)
SPOILERS Not a perfect ending, but not bad either.
This contains SPOILERS to both seasons of the show.
To start this off I want to say that I have thoroughly enjoyed the acting in this show. The finale of season two did not take the show in the direction that I would have, but at the same time it was still a decent, happy ending. I'd say it's similar to season one's dead, happy family finale.
Personally I was hoping Sister Jude would end up living with Lana to save her life from BloodyFace Jr. but that didn't happen. Instead we had a chance to see Jude ending her life with Kit's family as the children's Nana having one last moment with death in an entertainingly, artistic way. Fine, I'll accept that along with Kit disappearing near death, probably with the aliens.
I liked that Lana manipulated her son the same way she manipulated BloodyFace by showing unwarranted affection. That was awesome. I also enjoyed the Cardinal's suicide after Lana pushed him for information on Briarcliff.
Overall I was pleased with the season's end. It would be cool in the third season if there was some sort of tie-in with the first two seasons. Here's to hoping.
Kids in the Hall: Death Comes to Town (2010)
Still great after all of these years.
LMAO funny, these guys have always been good at making me laugh, and they have not lost their touch with this. Death Comes to Town is a great mini-series that I hope is not the end of Kids in the Hall now. I hope this is a restart of the wonderful comedy these guys are really good at. They have just a slew of wonderful characters in this comedy as well as few guest appearances from old favorites. This is a must watch for any fan of the show. Scott Thompson, Dave Foley, Scott Thompson, Mark McKinney, and Bruce McCulloch are all back and a bit older. I am a little upset that the only way I can watch this right now is online.
ZMD: Zombies of Mass Destruction (2009)
Great Shocker of a Film
This movie does a great job building up throughout and makes great jokes along the way. I absolutely love this movie. From the closeted gay man with his totally out and about lover having to play it straight for the crazy church goers. I never would have thought to take out a zombie with a weed-whacker. Frida, what can I say, excellent character, very funny way of dealing with other Americans confusing her background. Her father, the Iranian, too funny on his search for Frida. He is totally bad-ass about it too. And the stereotypical American family, classic crazy father. This is a movie that can really suck you in. Definitely give this move a chance, and I am sure you will not be disappointed.
