Gems You Might Have Missed
110 titles |
Public
Most of these movies are well known IF you happen to be a Criterion nut or someone who follows a particular director (for instance, anyone who claims to be a fan of the Coen Bros has at least heard of if not seen several times Miller's Crossing). However, for those of you who simply search out quality films regardless of who is behind them, this is a list of overlooked, under-loved, and forgotten gems you might have missed. Despite positive reception and critical plaudits, many fall just shy of awards or movie lists like the IMDB top 250. I hope this list helps you discover a new favorite film, or at least inspires you to make your own list of (relatively) forgotten films.
I also apologize in advance for the dearth of non-English language films on my list but, really, pretty much all good foreign films are under-seen and undervalued outside of cinephile circles.
