Waar (2013)
Nice looks but over-hyped
Was intrigued when i saw a Pakistani movie on netflix.
From the moment it begins you are hooked by the smart actors and the photography .
But thats all there is to it.
Unfortunately most of the acting is very pedestrian . Why are people speaking in American and made up British accents in Pakistan ?
Ali azmat is a great singer , and i have been his fan since teenage days but he cant act for sure !
The background music is good and some of the soundtracks are catchy but overall a lot to be done.
looking forward to some better work from this team.
Adios.
A Death in the Gunj (2016)
what a bore
please don't waste your time on this.such a colossal waste of such fine acting talent. seems like a school play . there is no story at all. people are just doing random things and it feels like some one is holding a camera in some ones house.wonder what the director was thinking.
Haider (2014)
below average
1. To the people who claim that Haider is Vishal Bhardwaj's best work : Maqbool , Omkara ,7 Khoon Maaf are miles ahead of Haider.
2. Even the music that Vishal created for Paanch,Maqbool,Kaminey is far better.
3.haider is a movie which is lost in its own world.characters appear and disappear without any clear introduction and the viewers are left to guess who they are and why and what did they do.
4. the entire movie seems so abstract and the screenplay is so slow you want to go to sleep.
5. there is absolutely no connection between one scene and the other and it seems like an ensemble of several ideas sewn together in a hurry.
6. the climax is so weird and doesn't justify anything at all.
7. who is Shraddha Kapoor and how did she meet shahid?why is there no scene between shahid- tabu-KK to show they know each other when she is sitting with her father at the wedding.
7. Unnecessary time is wasted in those two Salman Khan mimicry guys .who made a complete mockery of the entire thing.how did Shahid know them that he was staying with them for some time?
Chaalbaaz (1989)
A Entertainer
Chaalbaaz was one of the best comedies of the late 80s with some landmark performances from Sridevi in a double role , Anupam Kher as the evil uncle Tribhuvan Das , Shakti Kapoor ,Rohini Hattangadi and Rajnikant. The movie also has Annu Kapoor in a special role and a young Aftab Shivdasani as Sridevis young brother. It also won Sridevi a Best Actress Award for 1989.The " Jaani ye Chaaku hai" scene is legendary and unforgettable.A typical bollywood formula film with Twin Sisters separated at birth and with strikingly different personalities .Sridevi was the real " Hero" of the film .I remember I had copied it on my VCR as a kid and used to watch it everyday ! A most memorable film .
