The Idol (2023)
The Idol: A Lackluster Debut
The Idol, with its highly anticipated first episode, at least for HBO executives, promised an exhilarating experience filled with excitement and intrigue. However, despite the inclusion of explicit scenes featuring nudity and sex, the show fails to deliver on its initial promise.
From the onset, it becomes clear that The Idol struggles to rise above the realm of dullness. The explicit content, which could have potentially added a layer of intensity and allure to the storyline, instead feels forced and gratuitous. These scenes fail to contribute meaningfully to the overall narrative, leaving viewers with a sense of disappointment and a yearning for substance.
Furthermore, the lackluster execution of the episode further compounds its shortcomings. The pacing feels sluggish, and the character development falls flat, leaving viewers struggling to form connections with the protagonists. The plot lacks depth and fails to generate the anticipated level of engagement. Despite the potential for captivating storylines and compelling conflicts, The Idol fails to capitalize on these opportunities, leaving the viewer craving for more substance and genuine excitement.
It is disheartening to witness a show that seemingly relies solely on explicit content to draw attention, rather than investing in well-crafted storytelling and character arcs. The overemphasis on nudity and sex distracts from what could have been a more nuanced and immersive viewing experience.
In conclusion, the first episode of The Idol ultimately disappoints, failing to deliver the engaging and exciting content it initially promised. Despite the inclusion of explicit scenes, the show's lackluster execution and absence of compelling storytelling render it unable to transcend the realm of dullness. One can only hope that future episodes will address these shortcomings and inject much-needed vitality into the series.

Battle of Surabaya (2015)
They should change the title as "Before battle of Surabaya, and after"
I watched this movie for 3 reason. first: the trailer was good. Second: as Indonesian, I really excited when finally somebody make animation movie about Indonesia's History. Third: My friend bought me a ticket, so why not. it's free movie. nothing to lose right? but i was wrong.. I just lost 2 hours of my life for bad movie. I don't know where to start to explained how they ruined this great chance for make great Indonesia's animation movie. it's like they put their 60% budget for animation, 30% for the cast, 9% for Sound, and just 1% for directing. storyline is awful. plot hole? don't even talk about plot hole, i only watched a hole without the plot. I wish they took different route, especially for storyline, to explained for audience that is "theres's no glory in war" with more subtle way. or they can just change the title as "Before battle of Surabaya, and After" or "Organisasi Kipas Hitam" or "Musa and Yuna" or "10 minutes of battle of Surabaya with another 1 hour and 45 minutes of 25 other random story". *and people.. please honest with your review.. 10/10 honestly? how much for classic animation like Spirited Away? 200/10?
