Awake (2021)
Watch as a last resort
The pacing of this movie was really confusing to me. Apparently, after one night of lost sleep, you go crazy and want to sacrifice a child. I don't know about anyone else but I've done all-nighters before and never felt the urge for violence.... Maybe it's just me. The church scene happens about 10 minutes into the movie, and I genuinely though that I had spaced out and missed the part where it's been at least a week with no sleep, but nope. Then, you get a cop-out at the end of the movie with no real explanation of what happened. Why does a solar flare cause sleeplessness? And why does dying and coming back to life cure it?
Only watch this movie if you've watched every single other one on Netflix already.
Jupiter's Legacy (2021)
Pleasantly Surprised
I had expected to just have this show on in the background while I did other work, but the show caught my attention enough that I actually binged 6 episodes in one night. I found myself more drawn to the origin story than the present day story. I felt as though the present day story dragged a bit. And I really was unimpressed by Chloe's character--and wig. She was very annoying to say the least.
But, overall, I would say give this one a watch. I enjoyed watching it.
The Midnight Sky (2020)
Disappointing
2 hours later, the movie's done, and I'm still waiting for the plot to unfold. Beautifully filmed but other than that, nothing interesting happens at all.
Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey (2020)
Fun movie...A little long.
Great set, costumes, hair and music. I think the movie was a little long and the plot could've been better but as a whole, I had a fun time watching.
Greenland (2020)
Not the best, but worth a watch.
It's definitely far from the best movie made, but a good way to pass the time on a weekend night. At the end, I didn't feel as if it was a waste of my time..
Pretty standard disaster movie plot: World ending, safe haven, family gets separated. I'd say give it a watch.
The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020)
Very slow, incredibly boring.
I had such high expectations for this show but was, sadly, very disappointed. The first half of the series moves at such a snail pace that I thought was going to pull all my hair out. And if I ever hear "perfectly splendid" again, I don't know what I'm going to do with myself.
There was probably one episode in the middle that was mildly interesting, but it was really such a chore to keep myself watching until the end. I had to finish it just to be fair. Even that last episode was especially infuriating. There was no need for that to be a whole episode, it could have been tacked on to episode 8. Better yet, the whole thing should have been cut down to a 2 hr movie.
Please do not waste your time and if you do... Well, I warned you.
