The Wonder (2022)
This is me giving you your 2 hours back.
Throughout my life I can probably count on two hands the number of films I've stopped watching midway for whatever reason. The Wonder is among that list. Tediously slow and boring. The feeling of 'it must start soon' never goes away. The biggest sin a movie can commit is to be boring and this commits that sin in spades. How many times do we need to see someone walking down a dirt track in the middle of nowhere? Listen, I don't mind slow films but there has to be some substance to keep the viewer engaged. If you want to see Pugh give a performance 10 times better watch Midsommar, in this film she's firmly in the school of less is more with her face barely registering an emotion the whole time. The only thing I can fault is the story, which one could argue is the most important aspect of a film.
Once Upon a Time in Tombstone (2020)
This makes plan 9 from outer space look like a masterpiece.
From the first scene this starts awfully and goes on a downward spiral. The director clearly just makes his films as a weekend hobby or something, but without a care as to the quality of the finished product. The film poster is the best thing about this movie. I've made films on my phone starring my dog that are better than this. To be expected to sit through 78 minutes of this is an insult.
