The Karate Kid (2010)
The black karate kid
This movie is more of an update from the original. Jaden Smith is the 12 year old Dre Parker not someone who's in their late teens who wants to learn karate. Jaden's character was more outspoken and less curious than Daniel Larusso played by Ralph Macchio more than a quarter of a century ago. Jackie Chan plays Mr. Han another version of Mr. Miyagi. Producers did an excellent job of making Chan appear more older and somber. There was excellent acting on his part where Chan is usually in the realm of a comical action hero. A few parts in the movie I feel were rush together where Dre played by Jaden almost instantly form a bond with the little Chinese girl. Also when the bully Cheng starts to bully Dre when he starts talking to the girl. From that point the movie became fairly predictable. Not to say I haven't enjoyed watching the different backgrounds of China and Dre learning to fit in where ever he can. The difference between the first karate kid from 1984 and now is a pre-teen is the star instead of an 18 year old and the training scenes in this one was too repetitive. In the first one the training scenes are iconic like wax-on was-off and the one with the paint brush. This movie has only one similar training method which was the jacket-on jacket-off and that has gotten to be tiring. Besides the point of using a African-American kid(Jaden) as the star his character was comical but yet naive. The karate kid in closing was one of the best remakes to date and it explores the culture of China and a kid training to build up enough courage to face his fears.
Judge Judy (1996)
Hell Judge
When I first started watching Judge Judy back in the 90s I said finally we have a judge that's honest and fair. But when i started watching it again recently she became a belligerent monster. I know a judge has to be fair in the ruling but where is the empathy for another human being. She now lacks any kindness in her soul. She is intimidating, sarcastic, berating, and heartless. I use to find this show funny as she gets on people that rather party and leave their baby with an unfit babysitter. But now she's gone too far as to insult people and doesn't have enough patience to hear a litigant out which could be an important factor of winning their case. As I stating earlier in this comment about her being fair and honest doesn't exist any longer. Judge Judy hears what she wants to hear and then cut people short with her crude remarks. I just watch the bailiff Byrd and I think even he is intimidated by her loose cannon demeanor. In all actually I think her show is for ratings no judge could every be that mean and disrespectful to the point of looking unprofessional. I surprise nobody took her to court for defamation of character. At first I found it entertaining but now the show is a joke within itself as we look for Judge Judy to bring order in the court.
Street Court (2009)
Justice in your own backyard
When I first heard of this show after they took Judge Karen off the air I was like what is this garbage. But after watching a few episodes I grown to enjoy it. Street Court is not your typical courtroom show. It brings the case outside where the situation of the case took place or where the judge and/or litigants feel comfortable. Judge Mazza is a pretty charming guy he's hip, compassionate, and ultimately fair. Anyone who doesn't bring proper documents to a case, suing a family over a little amount of money, and not making good decisions judge consider them to be a "huckalaro". Judge Mazza does has a sense of humor with the litigants which makes the show more interesting but always stick to the fact of the matter. I love his flexibility in this show. Now if the litigants starts to annoy him by giving him a runaround story he will give them a piece of his mind and then give his verdict. Most of all at the end of each case he states why he rules the case the way he did and give us his input. This is a good lesson to learn about the law, your rights, and the advantages of winning your case in a courtroom. No other courtroom show I seen has done that besides people's court. If you happen to own a DVR(digital video recorder) I recommend taping this show. You will find it entertaining and as well as being educated about the law.
Wrong Turn (2003)
Killers in the woods
This movie caught my attention after reading about it in wikipedia. I look at it on-line and found it quite suspenseful. Wrong Turn is a mixture of Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Wolf Creek. Although the plot of the movie is not original I find it very entertaining. A young man looking for a job and five youngster making a camping trip in the woods. They all bond together after witnessing their friends being slaughtered to death. Chris played by Desmond Harrington was one of the best actors in the movie. Desmond displayed courage, intelligence, determination, leadership and ingenuity. This movie makes him appear to be the hero. Jessie played by Eliza Dushku was great in her own right. She didn't displayed an overly emotional victim after her friends been killed. Instead she realizes that whimper over dead friends is not going to save her life. This movie been released for quite some time now and if u looking for a movie with suspense and non-stop action after the first half-hour. Then this is the movie for you. There's two more sequels I have to check out.
Bully Beatdown (2009)
The tormentor gets tormented
This for one teaches these cocky youngster that there always someone more skilled and stronger than they are. The show is hosted by the charismatic but eccentric Johnny "Mayhem" Miller who gives the show a somewhat comic relief with his input. I love how this show give these bullies a taste of humiliation and a feeling of helplessness when going against a skilled fighter. That's how the victims felt when they were up against these punks and to top it off the victims can win up to $10,000 in cash if their fighter wins all the rounds. An interesting show that's enjoyable if you're into a jock getting their a** kicked. This could be anyone's son that's being mis-treated and abuse and it can continue if someone doesn't teaches these bullies a lesson.
I Can Do Bad All by Myself (2009)
Misery doesn't love company
This movie I found to enjoy on some aspects. Like when Tyler Perry portrays the outspoken, daring Madea and the sarcastic Joe. Their antics are the comic relief of the movie but the plot of Tyler's stories are realistic and serious. A young woman name April played by Taraji Henson is dramatic, lazy, and mean to her young niece and nephews. Till a man name Sandino played by hispanic actor Adam Rodriguez fills the void in April's life. You see a lot of women these days sacrifice everything in their circle for a man that provides for them and treats them poorly. April is just an example of that and Tyler Perry puts it out there so that woman can see they're not the only ones going through that. A decent movie but it wasn't his best and as for Taraji P. Henson shes good at playing a strong-willed,angry,black woman.
Tyson (2008)
A born victim
By watching this film I got a little depressed because this is a man with no education,no parents just boxing. As a street kid from Brooklyn all he knew was cruelty and trying to do what ever to survive. Tyson gives his own biography of his life and he seems to do it pretty well. He explains that one of the best things that ever happen to him was his mentor and guardian Cus D'amato and his children. Boxing was a thing he did in between. At one moment I wanted to shed a tear for the man as some of the people in his life used his fame and popularity for their selfish needs (Don king & Robin Givens). As a man who grew up in a rough section of Brooklyn this gave him more of a reason not to trust people. Mike Tyson appears to be a man who wants to be loved and appreciated. All this brutal and crude behavior came out of angry he endured while growing up. Mike Tyson is probably one of the most misunderstood boxer that stepped foot in the ring. But after watching this film you'll understand why he was so angry and vicious when he feels attacked. Now he seems to learn from his mistakes and is at peace with himself. Tyson was a fierce fighter in his prime and through all the turmoil in and out the ring lies a man whose become emotionally numb.
Drag Me to Hell (2009)
A living nightmare
Sam Raimi knows how to make the main character become a tormented victim in his movies like Bruce Campbell in Evil Dead,Tobey Maguire in Spider-man and Alison Lohman who plays Christine. This movie focus mainly on a woman named (Christine) who is cursed by ill old lady who want an extension on her mortgage. Christine who's only doing her job cannot grant her an extension because the old lady maxed out her extension requirements on her mortgage. I felt sorry for Christine because she felt she had to prove herself to her boss by during what is required to move up a position. Thus living day to day with hellish visions of the old lady and being attack by unseen forces and menacing looking shadows. I think that old lady Ms.Ganish sold her soul to the devil to make a young lady suffer and anticipate a terrible fate. Just like that this old lady come out of the blue and make a innocent young lady's life a living hell is every evil. Ain't like this young lady portrayed to be a spoiled rich heir, she was only trying to make a living and court her boyfriend. This movie wasn't as scary as the previews portrayed it but most of the scenes were hilarious like the old lady biting Christine's face with no teeth in her mouth, and while going to the cemetery and a handkerchief comes to life and attacks Christine. If I was a kid I probably would have been scared. For its terrifying scenes I'm surprise it's only rated PG-13. This movie in my opinion is more of a psychological thriller than a straight horror movie because its suspense and empathy for victim(Christine). I not going to give the movie away but just imagine your life could end a few days later in a horrible way. Drag me to hell makes you wonder, that is why it wasn't a bad movie. This is the type of movie that keeps you thinking wondering what she's going to do next.
The Jamie Foxx Show (1996)
Talented brother
During the time this show originally aired Jamie Foxx was already a self-made star thanks to "In Living Color". This guy is very talented he can sing, tell jokes, and play various instruments such as a piano. Jamie displayed this talent while portraying himself on the show. At the time I think his show was a little underrated and people didn't give Jamie the respect he deserves. The show was light-hearted and at times silly but that was his character. He had a few serious episodes where his uncle junior was afraid to have surgery and teaching a kid the value of money. The most hilarious part was during the first few season of the show where Braxton and Jamie are competing rivals for Fanci's love. Then towards the end Jamie's crush turn into full bloom love and him and Braxton becoming trustworthy friends. Round the time this show was air he starred in movies with Samuel Jackson,Will Smith,Nia Long and In Living Color co-star Tommy Davidson. Jamie was already in the entertainment industry long before his star status rocketed after the biopic movie Ray. Since then he recorded Unpredictable in 2005 and Intuition in 2008. Also guest-starred on various hip-hop and r&b artist recordings. It seems like Jamie Foxx is a hot commodity in the entertainment industry. By catching the reruns of the Jamie Foxx show its about time he got his break.
Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II (1987)
The prom date from hell
I recently saw this movie on cable and its my first time seeing it in over 20 years. I still enjoying the cheesy scenes in the movie. A young lady is possessed by a vengeful spirit who will stop at nothing to be crowned prom queen. The man who indirectly bought this on was Scanners' Michael Ironside. If people were getting killed over a crown for prom queen then let this demon have it. But then the movie be pretty much over then. Why not kill a few teenagers and flirt with somebody's father and other promiscuousness? Thus to keep this movie entertaining take elements from "A nightmare on elm street","Carrie",and "Exorcist". Besides not only was certain parts of this movie gory but it was also funny because of its irony. Prom Night 2 wasn't really a bad movie if you're into 80s style supernatural thrillers.
Keeping Up with the Kardashians (2007)
spoiled brats
This show is incredibly annoying. Four sisters who try to step on each others toes for recognition. Now granted the sisters are beautiful but it's nerve wrecking to hear them argue about almost every little thing. Kim Kardashians is obvious the biggest star out the bunch based on her involvement with singer Ray J and starring in bad girlie movies. These girls has no talent and no respect for their mother's current husband Bruce Jenner. He tries to give his step-daughters his support by giving them a word of advice for what they're pursuing and they blow him off like yesterday's newspaper. Their mother Kris Jenner is trying to relive her youth based probably on her late ex-husband success and she's just as airy. The whole show is a waste of time unless you're into drama and chaos. The Kardashian women are beautiful to look at but make sure you take some Tylenol after watching this show.
Lakeview Terrace (2008)
The neighbor from hell
This movie became more interesting as I continued to watch it. Samuel Jackson played an excellent part as the antagonistic evil Able Turner. This movie teaches me to never move next door to a cop no matter how friendly they appear to be. But Lakeview Terrace is a bit extreme with the cop next door type of deal. Not only that the Mattsons had to deal with a cop living next door but he's a racist. Able abused his power as a police office by spying on the Mattsons and acting upon it. I know somehow that's illegal to snoop into people's privacy. This is one of the best parts Samuel Jackson played in a movie next to Pulp Fiction and Shaft 2000. Kerry Washington was excellent as the Ms. Lisa Matton,Kerry is versatile. Overall Lakeview Terrace is a interesting movie that build ups to a powerful climaxing ending. Recommend anyone to watch it with a family or friend.
Chris Rock: Kill the Messenger - London, New York, Johannesburg (2008)
Running out of material
Chris Rock has always been my favorite comedian since the 1990s. But "Kill the messenger" ran dry to me. The splicing of shots from his shows in Johannesburg,London, and New York nearly gave me a headache. His comedy routine from the past mainly focused on race relations, relationships, and the difference between rich and poor people. Though most of this show he discuss the up and coming election which his views were funny and somewhat realistic. But the race thing got old and tiring to me. I was like okay Chris you made your point about n***ers time and time again before. I thought the gas price joke was a bit much and crude the way he says "he masturbates before filling up his tank", to relieve his frustration of spending too much money on gas. The relationship and marriage joke/segment were almost similar to his last stand up in "Never Scared" but more raunchier. This stand up special focused mainly on the election and politics and I found some of the stuff he discussed on the topic were hilarious. But after that I didn't find the rest of it all that amusing. Basically it seems like he's paraphrasing what he said in his other specials. Its not what he says that is funny but the expressions he makes after saying it keeps me laughing. That's what makes him so funny, but if he doesn't focus on creating new and refreshing material Chris may lose a good portion of his audience.
Hell's Kitchen (2005)
P*** off
Hell's Kitchen is one show that keeps the viewer interested. This is one cooking show that has creativity and drama. By watching this show I somewhat feel sorry for the chef to bes to be pressured under Gordon Ramsey's rants and harsh criticisms. Which is in a way good for them because out in the real world people aren't going to be as nice. Gordon Ramsey can go overboard with his temper and start throwing things around the kitchen and shoving people out his way. If the dish doesn't fit his standards he belittle them and sometimes go into a rage and shut the whole kitchen down. I know it's sick to enjoy people getting verbally abused but it's funny when he tells them to p*** off. Some of the chef want to bes are cocky, arrogant, and malicious especially when its time to nominate whose going to be eliminated. Chef Gordon Ramsey is a tough food critic and doesn't sugar-coat his personal feelings about anything. That why I find this reality show entertaining. Chef Ramsey may be a demanding time bomb but at least his chef trainees aren't necessarily out of control.
The Salt-N-Pepa Show (2007)
They've grown apart
Salt-N-Pepa had their time to shine in the mid 80s to early 90s. They were one of the first girl hip-hop group in the male dominated rap industry. Back then Salt-N-Pepa inspired other female rap groups round that time such as Finesse and Sequence,Conscience Daughters, and The Cookie Crew from England. They also inspired other female solo rap artist such as Mc Lyte,Queen Latifah,YoYo,Ms. Melodie & Harmony from the BDP crew, and Lin Q from X Clan etc.. Though some had short-lived careers Salt-N-Pepa were the only hip-hop female rap group that keep the momentum going well into the 90s. Even then their image changed for a more pop soul appeal compared to their urban street styled music. After a few public appearances they went into obscurity.
Now in recent times I seen Salt-N-Pepa attending VH1 hip hop honors shows from 2004 to present and they still maintain their beauty and stage presence. VH1 gave them their own show and by watching this show I've learned that Salt is now a Christian devoted mother and wife and Pepa is now a single mother who was married to Naughty by Nature's front man Treach. By watching the show Pepa seem loose and free as I've every seen her and now Salt is the ultra-conservative who tries to tame Pepa's wild impulses. I see Salt gets annoyed with her ideas of dressing, throwing a party and being loud. I give Salt credit for trying to tolerate Pepa but her facial expressions give it away. What these two woman has to understand is that they live totally different lifestyles now. Just trying to make each other out to be something their not anymore is long gone, and I can see the frustration on their faces when they hardly agree on anything. But they somehow work it out for television and who knows what goes on behind the scenes. For one thing Salt has a religious faith she has to hold up to and songs like "Push It","Shoop","I'll take your man" doesn't seem devoted to her faith as a Christian. Pepa has to also realize Salt's not single and can't hang out late all the time just for the sake of an old friend. Salt has a family and she's seem more level-headed than Pepa who appears more self-centered and child-like. I see why Spinderella keep her distance and meet with them occasionally realizing that they all have separate responsibility when their children and family's involved. Overall the show is in fact entertaining and I enjoy seeing what Salt and Pepa are up to.
Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins (2008)
Distant relatives
Martin Lawrence has tone down a lot in his recent years. He's a lot more humble and mindful during his interviews. I'm started to see him mature(maybe because he's in his 40s) and not playing that same overzealous type he's been cast as. Roscoe Jenkins was a fairly decent movie and as for laughs Mike Epps stole the show. Monique is crazy as ever and Cedric makes a few laughs himself. This movie has a widely all-star cast such as James Earl Jones who play Martin's (Roscoe Jenkins) dad and Margaret Avery his mom,Michael Clarke Duncan his brother,Nicole Parker who Roscoe had a childhood crush on,and Joy Bryant Roscoe's fiancé. After watching this movie not only speaking for myself I know most people can relate to this film. A sibling rivalry,a flirtatious cousin, and a conservative dad. Everyone has a relative that we normally can't see eye to eye,but at the end of the day they are all family. No matter how successful you've become and without family to support your achievements it means nearly nothing. This movie teaches you that,it's not only where you come from it's who you are,and you wouldn't know that if it wasn't for family.
The Steve Wilkos Show (2007)
No belly rubs there
I enjoy watching The Steve Wilkos Show. I like the way he doesn't go for the lame excuses of his guest about why there are not taking care of their children, beating and abusing their spouse or loved ones etc.. They get no sympathy from Steve when his guest try to make themselves out to be the victim. This especially when a grown man twist his baby leg for crying too much that's ridiculous. Also a man with an HIV virus is willing to spread the virus to other people because he feels it was deliberately given to him. This doesn't makes sense and I don't blame Steve for yelling at them because they're a bunch of lowlife scumbags. Grown men and woman who refuse to take responsibility for anything is a waste. Instead they make excuses and put no effort into making their situation better. Now Steve could be a hot-head sometimes but however its justifiable when a man doesn't know who is abusing their child. Steve is a reasonable man and he is willing to help those who want to be helped, but you have to show him some effort. At the end of show he usually reads his fans e-mails and those who don't agree with his screaming and yelling tactics don't have to watch the show. Like Steve said "let a child molester or a pedophile in your home and touch your children in a certain way and offer them some tea and cookies and ask them why they did that". That's not being realistic. Steve is a man with a great heart and it takes courage for him to help an abuser and also a victim.
Snoop Dogg's Father Hood (2007)
Very lame
Snoop Dogg came a long way in his rap career but this show serves no purpose. In comparison with Run's House this show doesn't have structure and it centers around Snoop's self-indulgence. Snoop's wife Shante is beautiful but her flat affect is annoying and their children seem to have no direction. Snoop's friend Anthony is a big kid himself and doesn't handle responsibility very well and Snoop treats him like a gofer. This show is not that great but it ain't the worse thing on television, has anyone seen "Keeping up with the Kardashians? Compared to that its not that bad. I remember Snoop had a show called Doggyfizzle that aired on MTV and that was short-lived. Being in a sitcom in my opinion doesn't sit well for Snoop because he has no talent other than being a rapper and he is not a pretty good one at that. That song "Sensual Seduction" is catchy and different from his previous work as a rap artist, but if he continues to make songs like that he would be around much longer. Just when it comes to television Snoop needs to leave it alone.
Reign Over Me (2007)
Post traumatic stress disorder
Adam Sandler played a magnificent role as the reckless/hopeless Charlie Fineman. This is one of the most serious roles I've seen him(Adam Sandler) in because he's a comic. Don Cheadle is a great actor who portrays a dentist married and near desperately tries to rekindle their lost friendship. The movie is a tear-jerking as you see a man fall apart after losing his family in the 9/11 attacks. Certain parts of the movie isn't realistic as Charlie goes into a fit of rage and starts destroying parts of the dental office where Alan(Don Cheadle) works, and not get arrested and Alan not very capable of losing his job. Jada Pinkett Smith also stars as Alan's wife who learns to understands her husbands' importance of helping out an old friend. It's a wonderful movie that shows a man who built walls around himself to keep from getting hurt and relies on his Ipod, music, video games, and learning to trust Alan as his only source of coping with his lost. Alan is a man who spends a significant amount of time with Charlie and somehow helps him deal with his pain, and men like Alan will always will be rewarded in return that's why he is successful. A good movie where Adam Sandler and Don Cheadle show flexible talented acting.
Run's House (2005)
Progressive family with ambition
I've enjoyed watching this show. Rev Run A.K.A Joseph Simmons teaching his family the lessons of life. Along with his wife Justine they guide their children to the right path of becoming responsible young adults and to get something you should not give up. Occasionally big brother Russell Simmons gives his advice to younger brother Run about maintaining his home environment and be more open-minded with his children. The show is realistic and deal with everyday issues such as puberty, pregnancy, and learning the value of a dollar. That is what I like about this show even though they're rich The Simmons' don't let fame go to their heads. Run and Justine has a lot of disagreements throughout the show but they're always there for each other and in almost every episode their in bed telling each other "I love you". Run's house is nothing like the "The Cosbys" but it's realistic and entertaining.
Norbit (2007)
Tormented man
Eddie Murphy is a genius and he's believable as the obnoxious and disgusting Rasputia and the geeky Steve Urkel(Family Matters)like Norbit. You really think he is two different people. Norbit reminds me a lot of the character he played in the 1999 movie "Bowfinger". He's dim-witted naive, wimpy, and a pushover. The morbid obese woman Rasputia is disgusting to look at and its hard to eat something while watching this movie. There also an somewhat all-star supporting cast like Terry Crews,Marlon Wayans,Katt Williams,Clifton Powell,Cuba Gooding Jr,and Eddie Griffin. But these actors couldn't help this movie to become a blockbuster comedy. Thandie Newton also starred in the movie as Kate the childhood friend of Norbit of whom they both grew in love with each other. Kate Thandie's character is the total opposite of Rasputia she's slim, gentle, considerate, and diplomatic. The movie had some laughs but not enough to keep the momentum going. As for poor Norbit this character shows the exaggeration of some African-American women dominating their husbands.
The Last Days of Left Eye (2007)
Destined to death
I watched this documentary on this young lady and it was very intriguing. The late Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes is very talented and philanthropic. She seems little eccentric and loves to look at herself and at the camera with those big dark brown eyes. She sure isn't camera shy and those eyes are so hypnotizing. This documentary is one of the best documentaries I've seen on someone. It's very much in depth with Lisa Lopes life from start(birth) to finish(death). I didn't think that there was a film about her retreat to Honduras. The film captures each day what she did while she was there and how she contribute to her stay among the people of Honduras. During this documentary she did her own narration about her life and does it quite well. It seems a little creepy when the words on the screen read "Lisa felt an evil spirit was chasing her" and I'm thinking maybe she has done something in the past and she's feeling guilty about it. She also mentioned that she don't believe in death but in transformation. Now where does that statement comes from? And why is she's talking about death? Did she know she was going to die? That seem weird to me. But when she was in Honduras with her family and friends she seem to be happy and at peace after all she's been through with the group(TLC),bankruptcy, alcohol addiction, and a abusive boyfriend. The documentary covered majority of her life except joining Suge Knight's record company Tha Row records I wonder what's that about and it was shortly before making her trip to Honduras. It's ironic how rappers Tupac Shakur,Notorious Big and Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes somewhat prophecies their time is up on this earth that's bizarre. However its been 5 years after her death and VH1 finally decides to air her last days until her death with documented footage of her trip. Why so long? is another question about this mysterious occurrences.
Spider-Man 3 (2007)
Weak and disappointing
First I would like to say if you expect this film to be a fight to the finish between Spider-man and his arch enemies than your'e badly mistaken. Spider-man 3 was a 2 and a half hour rushed movie. This new villain/rival Eddie Brock came out of nowhere and eagerly wants to step on Peter Parkers toes and become a up coming photographer for the Daily Bugle. Flint Marko A.K.A The Sandman also comes out of the blue as a fugitive on the run and is coinceindentally responsible for Uncle Ben's death. Another thing I didn't like about this movie is that the producers try to add more comedy to this film which the Spider-man element is action, adventure, and some romance. In the past Spider-man is known to make some pretty witty comments. The scene where the black suit takes over Peter Parker personality and he's dancing along the sidewalk could of been left out. That scene in my opinion was so corny and out of place. Mary Jane is confused as ever in this third installment,at first she in love with Peter and when things don't go her way with Peter she look for Harry Osborne for comfort. Didn't they date in the first movie (Mary Jane Watson & Harry Osborne) and it didn't work out? But to be honest I like Peter's personality in the black suit he seem no longer to be a patsy. He's more suave and at the same time an asshole, and this time we didn't see him get over-powered by adversities while wearing the black suit. As the movie continued it was becoming more predictable and I began to enjoy it even less. The first two movies were more in depth of character content and this movie fails to do so. Scenes were jumping back and forth till you got dizzy to the point of losing interest in the whole movie. The lab partner(Gwen Stacy) of Peter Parker could of been left out the movie she didn't serve a purpose except wanting to be a Spider-man groupie. My recommendation the movie didn't live up to its hype and if you could wait till it comes on video that's not a bad idea neither.
I Think I Love My Wife (2007)
Potential infidelity
This movie shows how a man is not completely satisfied with being married. Of course this is because his sexual needs is not being fulfilled due to his wife's lack of interest in it. Thus only leading to a more tempted way of being promiscuous or misogyny. I have to say family life can be wonderful but when becomes routined there's a need for change or someone outside the family will appreciate the husband or wife and they will become delusional. In this movie that's What happen to Chris Rock,he becomes depress by the everyday family life and is not getting physical intimacy. There's a lot of husbands that could relate to what Chris Rock is going through and sadly there's men that would fall to temptation. That's when willpower and taking control of a situation comes into play. The movie was OK and not one of Chris Rocks funniest but the movie is about how strongly you do love your wife.
Video Soul (1981)
Rememberable
This was one show that helped put R&B artist on the map besides "Video Music Box". The show was hosted by Donnie Simpson for many years till Sherry Carter took over in the mid 90s. It featured up and coming R&B artists, live performances, personal interviews, and music videos. Video Soul was the best thing on television since "Soul Train" to African-Americans. The most memorable thing about Video Soul was in the late 80s early 90s hi-top fade Donnie Simpson wore and the artists who appeared on the show like New Edition,Al B. Sure,Jodeci,Babyface, and Keith Sweat. Back then the videos were more clean but sensual. Now these people in the videos hardly have any clothes on and being disrespected in almost any kind of way. I caught Video Soul on the new channel BETJ a music channel that derives from BET,and I see how so much has changed since then. The songs were more cheerful,light-hearted,and fun-loving compared to todays aggressive hardcore raunchy style. It's great to watch these old videos(with montages of Donnie Simpsons but without the live performances and personal interviews) and reflect back on how things use to be. Thanks Video Soul you made history.
