Hustle (2004)
Awesome!
Definitely one of my favourite TV shows ever. It's so slick and stylish, with great writing and brilliant actors. Tony Jordan's scripts, although not entirely original, are sharp, witty and elegant, and keep us guessing about the results of each con. Adrian Lester is brilliant as Mickey, able to mix a combination of intelligence and charm with ease. The legendary Robert Vaughn is on top form too, showing us why he's a legend. Robert Glenister is awesome as Ash and Jaime Murray is impressive as Stacie, as this was her first major acting role.In my opinion, Marc Warren is truly the star of the show. He brings life into a character that could have been completely flat, annoying and unoriginal but he steals almost every scene he is in- he has a twinkle in his eyes that makes me tingle (I recommend you watch anything else that he has been in- he won't disappoint.)
Though not everyone will like this, I love it and would recommend it to anyone.
Reversals (2003)
I really enjoyed this!
First of all, i have to be honest. I absolutely love Marc Warren anyway and will watch anything that he is in. But this was highly enjoyable light entertainment that has been missing from the TV. everything is so serious these days that it seems like everyone have lost their sense of humour and this just brought some of it back. All actors involved were good. Marc Warren's brilliant charm, wit and versatility shone through (as always). Sarah Parish showed that she could be funny and was very good. And it was nice to see Anthony Head in an almost villain-type role post Giles in Buffy. I really hope someone releases this on DVD or maybe just show a repeat on the telly. I, for one, would love to see this again.
Bubble Boy (2001)
I enjoyed it.
Although I found the premise slightly stupid, I thought the film was fun, simple and entertaining. It's nice to see simple films being made with the end result better than expected. P.S. To anyone who hasn't seen it and thinks it will suck, give it a try, it's surprisingly likable.
The Good Girl (2002)
Very Surprised by this gem.
I had heard a lot about this film a long time before it was released here in the UK, like how it had been a hit at the Sundance film festival. The only cast members who's other work i had either seen or heard of was John C. Reilly and Jennifer Aniston, so I wanted to see what ,made this film a sleeper hit.
To be very honest I thought that it would not be very good as I thought Jennifer Aniston (who had to carry the lead) was a boring, repetitive actress who had no range. Boy, I was wrong. This film is an excellant black comedy that has some brilliant young actors and a great script.
All of the characters were fantastically brought to life by some breath-taking performances by Jennifer Aniston and Jake Gyllenhaal with a great storyline that leaves you ooo-ing and arrrrrh-ing from some surprising moments.
I thoroughly recommend this to anyone looking for originality and thought provoking brilliance.
