Valentín (2002)
what a sweet movie this is! absolutely fantastic!
I didn't suspect this movie to be good, because the dutch producer Laurens Geels produced it and I usually don't like his films. But this one was a sweet surprise! The whole film has this brilliant feel-good-movie athmosphere...and you just don't want this film to end. Rodrigo Noya is one of the most brilliant young actors among us, I was totally crazy about his character. I can't wait to see the next Agresti film! By the way, this is an absolute OSCAR-winner for this year!(or maybe Goodbye Lenin?)mmmmhhhh.....we'll see!
Schemer (2003)
One hell of a good shorty !
Well, as the producer of this short film I feel very flattered to write the first comment! It took a long time to make this film, but the result is beautiful. This psychological thriller is about a man who's possessed of power. The ending is surprising...the tension is great and cinematography(Bart Beekman) looks brilliant. The director ,Erwin van den Eshof (who also wrote the idea for this film), just did a great job and we're looking forward to his new films.
De Chinese muur (2002)
"well constructed shorty"
I was a production assistant and location scout on this short movie. I saw it for the first time on the big screen at the Dutch film Festival and I was surprised by the quality of this short film. The story is strong, convincing and Celia is great as the grumpy lady who's always criticizing other people. Cinematography looks good too and last but not least, what a beautiful location!!! By the way, the film won several international prices!
25th Hour (2002)
"excellent realistic drama"
"I saw this movie on the big screen and I liked it. The atmosphere, the realistic story and off course the acting...all together perfectly matching. Maybe a bit slow, but Edward Norton and Philip Seymour Hofmann keep the viewers attention. Best scenes are absolutely "disco scene where Hofmann kisses his pupil" and the "mirror-scene where Edward gives a clear and pointy presentation of his view on the society".
The Insider (1999)
"Top Ten Ever"
"I saw this movie at the film academy in Amsterdam, with comments of Pieter Jan Brugge, the Dutchman who produced Heat and The Insider.
I was totally impressed by this movie. The story, the acting, the tension of a man who's loosing his faith and especially the music of Lisa Gerrard....it's just one of these movies you'll always remember. Especially because of the comments of Pieter who explained what the production problems were and how long it took to make this movie. People say that Mann's movies are too long, but I can not get enough of them."
The Unsaid (2001)
"what's the true meaning of this script?"
" I just don't understand what the director wants to tell us. The script has an awful lot of gaps and is not very convincing. For example, why would this physical disturbed patient try to mess up with his doctor and his daughter while he can get out of the institution in two weeks? It just don't make sense and it's all to obvious. The film is also a bit slow and misses the tension of an exciting thriller. Good old Andy is ok though."
