Before he was the Rocketeer!
18 August 2008
Warning: Spoilers
This was one of the highlights of ST:TNG's semi-forgettable second season, before they 'grew up' or grew into their own in the third season and beyond. This was not only a showcase for up-and-comers like Bill Campbell and Teri Hatcher, but was also the continuation of Data's search for his 'humanity', this time through the concept of comedy. Still one of my favorite episodes.

On a side-note, I'm still disappointed that there is no credit for the actress with whose character Okona was about to have a tryst(after Teri Hatcher's character) before being rudely interrupted by Lt Worf. I remember watching this episode 'first-run' at my friends comic shop back in the day and we all thought she would've been a perfect Jean Grey/Marvel Girl.

It would be nice to know who this pretty lady actually is...

The Stranger Within (1990 TV Movie)
10/10
Very good AND very disturbing!

This has to be Rick Schoeder's most 'differrent' (for lack of a better term) role to date, in my opinion. I don't think his performance in "Bad Seed" comes even CLOSE to this one. His turn as "Mark" I would have to say HAS to be one of the ten creepiest characters EVER portrayed on film! The thing I remember most about this movie were the sketches that "Mark" had. Those were some of the creepiest pieces I've ever seen. I think that the 'fear factor' of this movie is underrated when taking those sketches into account. I would have to give it a 10 simply for the fact that this was a television movie, when it was honestly creepy enough for a theater release. Get the popcorn and turn off the lights for this one, but only if you're ready for the nightmares to come!

I agree, this show was great!

I liked most of Filmation's stuff, but this one is near the top! Definitely one of my favorites of all time (along with 'Janna the jungle'! :D) I remember my cousins and I would play the parts in the cartoon right after we finished watching them on Saturday morning (and 2 of us would always fight over who got to play Hercules! As I was smaller than my cousin, I usually had to play the Mercury guy! LOL :D) I would also like to see this on DVD. With Rhino bringing out everything else, I don't see why this one wouldn't be possible. I would actually like to see Filmation's ENTIRE catalog on DVD! :) C'mon, Rhino (or Filmation or whomever) Hook us up!

Tarzán (1991–1995)
Only saw 1 episode, but the best laugh I ever had!
15 November 2004
This actually lasted 3 seasons!?!

Maybe I just caught an early episode, but I didn't think it would bode well for the series.Typical generic episode plot: strange illness makes people/animals sick. When Jane teaches Tarzan a new word, "antidote", Wolf Larson delivers what is the funniest line I've ever heard on a unintentional sitcom, in straight 'surfer-dude' monotone (You can almost hear him use the word 'like' at the beginning of the sentence):

"(Like,)Tarzan find antiDOTE." (Emphasis intended on the last syllable)

There, I've said my peace. I hope you found it as amusing as I did! :)

I actually still miss this!

I remember this series fondly, under its actual title "Cliffhangers!". Even though I had a crush on Susan Anton (Hey, I was 8. Tall blondes were my thing then :D!), my favorite segment had to be "The Secret Empire" (This was the "Cowboy finds Atlantis" segment). I remember laughing hysterically when the the hero (the cowboy) was being pummelled senseless by a little green pointy-eared chimpanzee that was actually his Atlantean girlfriend's pet! I remember being bummed that it ended with him falling off a cliff and them showing him laying unconscious (maybe dead, even {?}). I wish this would somehow show up on TVLand or somewhere else. This show would be great to see again!

Dark Avenger (1990 TV Movie)
8/10
An excellent pilot show for its time. ;)
7 April 2004
I remember this movie quite well, as it was shown in the "The Flash"'s timeslot on CBS's Thurday night lineup. I like the story's concept similarity to Sam Raimi's "DarkMan", which was really fresh at the time, and the style worked very well in the early 90's, the dark "Anti-hero". It would've been great to have Raimi helm this as a series, or even the team that brought us the "Flash"'s series, too.

I really liked the show's return to the hat and trenchcoat look for a 90's hero (what I'd call "neo-pulp") and would've liked to at least seen a 13 episode run of this show, if not just for Judge Cain's costume and the beautiful Maggie Han! :)
