The Mentalist (2008)
I'd give it a ten but Robin Tunney is the worst actor in the world. Ruins the show, don't waste your time.
She literally and single handed brought the show to low levels I'm not even sure exists. She has crappy screen appearance. She is totally clueless about playing the part she was given. She dials in her dialogue. Without fail, she absolutely always looks and acts like the stupidest person in the room every time she's on screen. She walks around with her mouth open like some kind of idiot. I don't know how she got the part, we can all surmise, but there's no way anyone with any sense would say she's good for this part. Even the other actors look strained to be in a scene with her. If Red John had killed off Lisbon, I would have given this show a 20.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (2022)
Here we go again.
Never seen people talk and sing so damn much when they should be doing their job. Furthermore, when are they going to learn that when beaming to an unknown place, the landing party should all be facing out, not on the same direction. How does this not drive everyone totally bonkers?
Yellowstone (2018)
"This ain't Dallas, this ain't Dynasty...
It's more like Goodfellas with cowboys and Indians. It's very much worth watching, seldom boring and very intriguing. You won't regret getting hooked on it.
1883 (2021)
Little house on the prairie. The R version.
All the characters are there and the story is a little different, but Laura Ingalls Wilder could have easily been the author. It's an awesome story driven and character driven show. The chemistry between all the characters will blow your mind. It's good, real good. Don't miss it.
When We Were Bullies (2021)
"Hey man. Remember when we bullied you back in the 5th grade". No? Let me remind you and make a movie about it
There was no deep meaning to be gleaned from this story. The ego of the filmmaker and those who participated were dismissive of their own actions while trying to shift blame away from these animals.
There was one woman (with a c) interviewed who claimed to feel guilty while smiling and laughing through her entire interview. She seemed particularly proud of herself.
You can easily sum up this very bad movie when at the end of the film the director says..."felt bad for the way you were treated" instead of "felt bad for the way WE treated you." What a joke.
Halloween Kills (2021)
I figured it out. Michael is a god damned Ninja.
Turn a corner, disappears. Hides behind a tree...can't see him. Driving down the road...jumps up from the back seat...you're dead. Obviously trained by Ra's al Guhl.
Criminal Minds (2005)
If you absolutely hate Penelope Garcia...
I'm so done. CM Evolution would be 1000% better without that sanctimonious, cringe worthy character. She's a clown and removes all the other character's credibility as serious actors. Why have they let this continue?
The occasional quirkinesses would be ok, but it's a constant brain screwing that I can no longer stand it. It's soooooooo obvious the other actors are struggling to play off her stupidity. Her bouncy comic relief does not work.
She's returned to evolution more annoying than ever. I'm in total disbelief anyone thinks this character has any redeeming qualities.
Sorry. But I've reached the end of my rope and will no longer be watching the show.
The Flash (2014)
It's not bad, but it's not great.
It just doesn't have that special thing that makes something special. Plus it's like everybody is a speedster now. The show could be called The Flashes. When you're saturated with super heros nobody is a super hero. It sorta makes Barry just another character in difficult to watch show.
It's not story driven, it's not character driven it's just driven by those of us who read the comic books and enjoy watching our beloved heros come to life which, more often than not, disappoints.
Game of Thrones: The Iron Throne (2019)
Great story with great plot twists throughout and up to the very end!
I'm dumbfounded by the low ratings for the last season and especially the finale. I quite enjoyed it not being predictable and thought the writers did a decent job telling it their way. (If you want a story to end the way you want it to end, go write your own damn TV series).
But on with the show....
Game of Thrones is a good series filled with exciting characters you come to love and love to hate. It's drenched with some mediocre acting, lazy writing...saved only by its special effects, make up and wardrobe departments.
Not all of it is bad..there are some outstanding actors and actresses who carry the show, but most will sadly forever be known only for their role on this show. There are enough story arcs, that when one starts to plummet, another will lift the show back up so you will almost always be drawn to the TV screen.
Admittedly, I watched each and every episode and was as emotional attached as the next person.
GOT IS worth your time. It is all it's cracked up to be and I am looking forward to the spinoffs.
The Orville (2017)
Seriously?
...as in I really enjoy the show, but can y'all get just a bit more serious with it? It's Star Trek with the sticks removed from everyone's asses, for sure, but ease up on the corny comedy. The writing is awful folks, it's amateur stuff you know it is...don't try and argue. Keep developing more serious stories with some real writers and let's try and go where no one has gone before.
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
Anyone who gives this movie a bad review is just looking for attention.
It ain't perfect, no movie is, but Avengers Endgame is hitting on all cylinders from start to finish. It'll feel like one of those amusement park rides that once you get off you want to get back in line and ride it again and again.
I guarantee you reviewers are using thesauruses to try and describe this movie and will fall short nonetheless.
It is epic in every sense of the word. Period.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (2018)
No Salem, no Sabrina.
Move along, nothing to see here. Some things just shouldn't be messed with. If it's worth doing, it's worth doing right.
Arrow (2012)
It has become just plain stupid.
..starting with the most annoying character in tv history Curtis Holt.
Then there's the 312 people that know that Oliver Queen is The Green Arrow and most of them know how to get in the secret hideout.
Once they find the secret hideout, they too become super heroes and with 6 months of training become just as good and powerful as anyone with years of highly intense training.
...and if that's not enough, the more heroes added to team arrow there are, the more useless they all become when trying to take down the bad guys.
Wait. There's more. Every decision and plan has to go to committee and The Green Arrows hands are more often tied than not so he really can't get anything done unless everybody on the team approves it.
I could go on, but I've stopped watching. Thank goodness Batman doesn't have a series on CW!
The Punisher (2017)
The only punishment dished out was to the viewers!
It ended with The Punisher, THE PUNISHER!, in a war veterans support group! Are you friggin kidding me? Now our comic book heroes are in therapy sharing feeeeeeeeeeelings?
I only reason I gave it a 5 is because Jon is an awesome Frank Castle/Punisher. The rest of the cast was excellent as well. There were some pretty cool fight scenes and the no holds barred action was pretty good too. Now only if they had only made a PUNISHER SHOW!
You could have titled this show just about anything with a dramatic military return home title.
For 13 episodes it drags you along to a bottomless pit of "where's my super hero?" Not in this episode. Nope. Not in this one, nope. This one? I guess not.......and so on right up until the final bad guy non-reveal and Franks not so punishing opening up of his heart. Awwwwwwwww.
Jeepers Creepers 3 (2017)
Awful movie by any standard
It did not live up remotely close to the others. Story was bad. Acting was bad. Plot was bad. Special effects were bad.
Let me save myself some typing and you some time. Everything was really bad.
Go ahead. Watch it if you want. But you'll be all like "man that was bad."
Star Trek: Discovery (2017)
Don't pay attention to the parent basement dwelling low raters.
It's a great show! Take it for what it is and enjoy it! Just because every tiny aspect doesn't fit into their perfect little idealistic Star Trek world doesn't mean it isn't good. There's no good reason why Gene Roddenberry wouldn't like this show.
It's really going to take off once it finds it's grove and all these Trekkie nerds will be geeking off on each other at Comic-Con and drooling over a girl named Michael before you can say "beam me up Scotty".
Daredevil (2015)
Simply put, Daredevil is all that and more.
First, the only reason I gave it a 9 is nothing is perfect. But if I could give a 9.5 I would.
***If you want read the bottom paragraph first then come back to the top***
Everything just seemed to come together with this series either by luck or design or a combination of both, but it works to the maximum degree. This exact combination of people, writers, actors, producers....all involved would have made Iron Fist or any other series just as great. The pace of the characters progressing/transitioning with Matt into DD is perfect!
The cast selection is right on in both seasons. You'll be extremely shocked and pleasantly surprised at how well the actors bring the characters you know and love to life. There's very little "overacting" or mixed acting, it's a true ensemble. No real uncomfortable moments or anything you want to fast forward through, you truly want to watch every moment.
The writing is top notch. (The best in the business right now) No dragging you through nonsense to get you nowhere. There's purpose and meaning to everything. The viewer can relate to the show whether they are longtime DD fans or never knew DD until the they watched the first episode on Netflix.
This show is dark. DARK. Not for children. Do not let your children watch this show.
****Now for the good stuff. The action and fighting scenes and cinematography (?) are amazing! I go nuts with anticipation waiting for each one. There are a few that are exceptionally exceptional. LOL Who ever choreographs these and films these and the others that works on these have done stuff I haven't seen in any Marvel MOVIE much less any other series or show. I'm not sure what the industry term for these particular scenes are called but you'll be in total awe! I mean Jaw dropping, I gotta rewind that three or four times just to see what in the hell did I just see Awe!***
Have fun and enjoy. The Defenders is right around the corner.
Wynonna Earp (2016)
Love this show! However....
It's a good show and getting progressively better but still hasn't found any real traction. Need to bring in some more better writers to polish it a little. The supporting actors are carrying the show. The main character is to aloof and casual in every single scene. It's way to overboard and makes the character look idiotic. A 100 lb woman kicking butt is a bit far fetched. The strong female lead character is played out. Make her a superhero or don't, but don't insult the audience with a regular tiny woman roundhouse kicking a 250 lb man off his feet. C'mon guys, this show can be awesome! Let's get this one right please and not half ass it.

Pet (2016)
Poor attempt to adapt a perfect short story.
I read the (not so) short story this movie was adapted from that kept me glued to the pages with a surprising and shocking ending that stuck with me some 25 or so years later!
This movie did not do the original story justice and quite frankly screwed up the original story pretty bad.
Even as a stand alone movie, the twists, yes plural, twists are weak and predictable and pathetic.
Iron Fist (2017)
I watched Iron Fist and all I got was a Rusty Metal Bitch Slap.
Do not watch Iron Fist. Fine. Watch it. Then you'll be like, "I wish I had listened to to this guy".
Watching Iron Fist was like swimming in molasses. Uphill. Blindfolded. In the dark. It was just really, really bad. The beginning was bad, the middle was bad, and when you were praying for the agonizing end so the misery would be over, and you hoped there would be some sort of redemption by way of a cameo by DD or Jessica Jones or the Easter Bunny or anyone more interesting...you get screwed by a god awful ending that made no sense whatsoever.
Character development was soooooooo slow. Danny was made to look like a simpleton. Claire as an action hero was just over the top. The senseless relationships between the characters did not move the story and the bad guys were just plain idiotic. Pick one bad guy and stick with it already instead of trying to be sophisticated and keep the audience "guessing". Bad guys turned good, good guys turned bad (sometimes twice) It was insulting to the viewers.
The action was the same old fight scenes over and over and over and over and over with little to no sign of Iron Fist. Danny is just a regular karate kid wannabe who makes a couple of glowing fist moves throughout the series. It's as if the studio simply had no budget for special effects. Karate girl fighting cage matches against two fighters at a time was just plain silly, and then struggling against one of her half trained students. So stupid.
Not good acting. Not good writing. Not good action. Not a good story.
What was good? Nadda.
Edit: What was good? We know who WON'T be leading the Defenders. I'll be surprised if they let Danielson clean up the Dojo.
Lights Out (2016)
After the opening sequence I had to pause it and go get a blanket and a flashlight.
***NO SPOILERS***
In this day and age of desensitization and difficulty in making horror movies, this one stands out pretty good. I enjoy horror movies and I always keep an open mind and allow myself to get a good fright if it's there, and this one delivers several times.
Don't worry about the plot holes and all the other BS. There's plot holes and such nonsense in every movie ever made and people are going to try and show off their superior intellect by pointing out such things instead of taking horror movies for what they are....horror movies. Turn the lights off, if you dare, start this movie, sit back and enjoy.
***It's been a long time since a horror movie had me yelling at the screen, but this one definitely had me doing that very thing in the opening sequence. Then I paused the movie and went and got a blanket... yeah it's that good.
Fear, Inc. (2016)
Fear Inc.? More like Fear gone bankrupt.
You've already seen this movie. It's called The Game. Sure this is different. By different I mean not as good, less interesting, lower budget, bad acting and taking short cuts to twists that are extremely predictable and really really bad.
It is not funny. It is not scary. It is not suspenseful. It is not thrilling.
The satire fell flat on every front. I mean every front. It just went on and on and on with a great many awful attempts at satiric horror homages, and I mean awful. From the opening scene to the idiotic ending, Fear Inc. searched and searched for an identity that it never found and left me with a raised eyebrow asking myself "is that it?"
The main character actually wears a Freddy sweater throughout the entire movie. It was so sad.
Just do yourself a favor and pass up this movie in favor of a nice root canal or colonoscopy. You'll thank me.
Westworld (2016)
***UPDATE*** Good enough I want to see where it's going. No spoilers here!
Just watched ep. 2/3 and it is getting real, real good. There's a few pivotal points that peaked our interest and kept us wanting more, plus some character development that is becoming a lot of fun as well as a couple of different story lines that are very cool.
If the story is going where we think it's going, I can't wait to see what happens next! If it doesn't, I can't wait to see what happens next!
No spoilers because this is for the folks who might be thinking about watching it.
It's worth the price of admission so far. In other words if you're on the fence about watching it, you won't be wasting your time by giving it a one or two episodes chance.
I was going to wait to write a review because I have two more episodes in the que, but I wanted to throw this out there based on just the one episode I've seen.
It is intriguing. I loved what they did with the music, I thought that was down right cool. (Pay attention and you'll like it too). It is for the advanced sci-fi lover, (if that's a thing), and many people will downplay it based on its sheer impossibility or "ridiculousness".
You don't have to be a fan of westerns or robots to get it or like it. In this order it seems to be a thriller, mystery, sci-fi, western, action, with a bit of comedy thrown in.
Crawlspace (2016)
Great scary movie. No spoilers! If you like a good scary movie, catch this one!
The best way to start this review about this particular movie is to remind you that patience is a virtue and that your patience will pay off in a big way!
My true review is a 6.9. Only because my 7's and up are reserved for the cream of the crop, but this one comes pretty darn close. (10 being a holy grail) Keep an open mind because if you're like me and enjoy being scared a little and like looking behind every door and under every bed for a good scare, then you'll enjoy this film.
Don't worry about any reviews you might read about this being similar to another story or two you've already seen. So what. This is a new story and very well done. No frills or major movie stars or catchy music theme, just a real good story with plenty of suspense that'll hold you to the very edge with the perfect number of gotchas and twists.
