Varisu (2023)
How to waste an energetic actors potential.
Vijay is the only sole person who tries to lift this soulless script. Except for few occasions , most of the time the movie runs in a pre-defined pathway which we all come to know. Being a family entertainer tag attached , one could hardly see a family in this. All we see are some jumbled individuals put in a luxurious house. There seems to be no bond or even remotely attachable emotion between any of the family members. However rich , the way the family is portrayed is too vague. Make up for every actor is overly done and it just blows up in close up shots. Background score helped lift the movie out of sinking deep. Director has made Vijay do some cringy scenes , not once but many times with some stupid , awkward mannerism which displays Vijay in a horrible , vague manner. I couldnt even understand how vijay accepted to do those cringe acting scenes !! Only good thing about this movie is interior design of the house.. if someone is looking for reference for thier next house , you can watch this movie. The CGI are horrible are highly misplaced at best. Fake clouds during dance scene , weird facial CGI for vijay , and horrible intro CGI !!
Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)
Longest Tech Demo in a Movie - Wish 3rd Part brings back the Pandora Glory..
I loved Avatar - 1 a lot. The pandora world is still stuck to my head. The 3D from the first movie was so refreshing , new , organic , we all felt we visited pandora. The second movie visually is good , but it really lacks in story and bogged down repeated events. The children making error after error and main characters going behind them to fix it or loose someone becomes the entire theme of the movie. The underwater experience is rich , refreshing and it should be enjoyed fully in the big screen.
One of the glaring issue for me for the frame rate. At times it felt like i am playing a game(48-9999 FPS) , another time enjoying a solid movie (24fps). Some fight scenes look they are taken straight out of game.
The core , the story is simply a deep black pit , nothing there , the pit is covered my eye popping foliage.. Will you step on it ?

Nithya Menon all the way
A wonderful movie after a long time. Kind of feel good one too. Nithya Menon stole the show right from the start. Take her out of this movie , there is nothing much left. She just oozes with love and naughtiness throughout the movie. The chemistry between Dhanush and Nithya Menon looked so natural.
Dhanush played his part well , but i felt too much monotonous expression from him off late. Bharathi Raja has done a spendid job. The "Megam Karukatha" song is wonderfully choreographed. The colors , the dance ... wonderful.
Overall a very nice movie to watch as family.
Nithya menon all the way.. She is simply too good...
Maanaadu (2021)
Film which respects audiences intelligence
Compared to so many sci-fi films which assumes audience as idiots , this film respects its audiences.
Kudos to director so crafting a master piece of timeloop movie. Story does justice to the genre and in my opinion , one of the finest sci-fi movie to come out in recent years.
Acting by both STR and SJS are top notch. SJS steals the show at the end. Right from the intro scene walk to pre-climax sequence.. he just shines through the frame.
STR has also done his best and looks neat and tidy.
BGM is also nicely done and changes it tempo where it needs.
Overall a very good movie to watch in 2021.

EVERY ELIGIBLE VOTER NEEDS TO WATCH THIS MOVIE ONCE !!!!
This movie talks about everything pertaining to politics and role of citizens.
It narrates the story where the hero starts to gets his identity and use/misuse his power as a citizen.
This movie should be made in all language and all eligible voter should be made to watch it !!
Instead of wasting everyone's times with ads of government in cinema theatre , they can at least run this movie for free,in all theatre, one show every month, for next 5 years.
Yogi Babu has given his splendid performance , so do others.
Satirical way in which this movie depicts the ills and goods of governance is excellent.
I would recommend everyone to watch this movie and understand the importance of that "ONE VOTE"
Andhaghaaram (2020)
A movie which keeps its secret till its very end..
Its been really long time a movie withheld its crucial plot for such a long period. The movie is dark and gritty and its actors excel in every turn to keep it nail biting. The music , cinematography worked pretty well. Selvam ( Vinod Kisan) character was top notch and Vinod (Arjun Das) character was top class as well.
Both leads , Vinod and Arjun have acted with such dedication.. Kudos..
Only thing was both female character were confusing at times because of similar facial features. Pooja played her part very good.
Its one of the kind movie in tamil cinema where you start watching the movie without much expectation and by the time the movie gets over , you are stuck to it and keep wondering in awe..
Mookuthi Amman (2020)
What if God came to tell you not to follow superstition ?
This movie if it was told from a atheist POV , no one would have listened or it would not reach its audience. But Director cleverly has told a "Need of the hour" message to the mass. "Right" when things are looking going very "RIGHT"... This movie tells to stop following self-made godmen who are there to swindle you and also countries wealth in the name of GOD.
Both Nayanthara and RJ balaji have done an excellent job.

A movie to be watched and rewatched as you age...to recollect and experience the path of love
A story which tells a innocent love which it tries to preserve it even after years later between the two. There is no vulgarity but pure innocence of love. The story is the hero and the way its been narrated is beautiful. Both trisha and vijay sethupathy have excelled each other in their performance.
This one movie has infact reignited so much old memories among many and you should have come across a meet up by your old friends.
BGM and songs hit directly your soul and holds it there...
A must watch movie not only for now, but even after say 20yrs down the lane to bring back the sweet old memories which I am sure will leave your heart so heavy..
Came out with so much memories from school and college days and with a drop of tears..
Seema Raja (2018)
This should be the worst movie of the year for a star hero
Easily this is the worst movie so far. No story , same FORMULA and absolutely disgusting music. Imman should atleast openly copy some foreign song and put them , because his songs have become monotonous , absolutely same tune and he has not gone past his glory days of Myna/Kumki. I for one have loved his work in films like " ABCD,Whistle,Tamilan" .. He used to be so unique , now it just SAME copy of his own songs. Please sir , we want something new and please kindly move away from same tunes..
As for story , its literally bad and nothing new and half of the movie is cringe worthy and rest of the movie is unwatchable. Soori's comedy works in some and rest it just falls flat in his face.He should also stop twisting words and speaking like normal , thinking its a comedy, it was for sometime , but now he now .
Sivakarthikeyan does his best , but he could have chosen a better story
Black Mirror (2011)
Never watch this....
TBH , My honest opinion is to stay away from this series as it will induce doubts and have questions on your very existence and life.. It did spark something inside me which i dont think will never ever leave.
Its not bad ... its so wonderful and thought provoking on life and many other dark stuffs of life, its best avoided...
Kaashmora (2016)
Very much a Under rated Movie
I happened to see this on Amazon Prime Video , and simply loved it. The First half was very nicely directed and i think throughout the film the director has maintained to keep the comedy aspect above the horror element. I wish the first half alone was spread across the entire movie , it would have been a full blown comedy movie.
Nevertheless the movie is really nice, didnt expect such a performance from Karti.
Nicely done.
Maayavan (2017)
Surprisingly well thought out sci-fi movie in tamil
Director does know what when dealing with the sci-fi elements and his version of future technology does holds its ground on probability factor. Excepts for the repetitive manner in which the movie tends to move once we know what is happening in the story, all other aspect of the movie are well made.
Wish the director comes with more no nonsense sci-fi movies in tamil in future.
Thaanaa Serndha Koottam (2018)
Heist movie with no logic nor substance.
The movie doesnt have substantial elements nor any turning point which is a usual element in heist movies to grab our attention. The movie leisurely runs with few normal heist (with no twist nor turns) , followed by songs , and fight. The time period confuses so much so , i was made to believe RJ Balaji is the younger suriya .. So messed up. Also why take us to 1980's time ? Time period doesnt serve any purpose but to give director free hand in making the hero escape from everything , even after slapping a higher police official.
The songs dont stick , the actress dont stick, the sentiments dont stick ... Its all piled up flashy cinematography which shows 80's period so colorful , making us even scratch our head in which time period we are in.
It is entertaining to some limit , but other than that , there is nothing much in this film ...
Sadhuram 2 (2016)
Pay for one ticket and you watch the movie 5 times within it
The director seems to keep reminding us the story like in these daily serial on what happened yesterday every few minutes. He doesn't want you to forget the movie nor the story.
The editing is top notch , you will experience seizure within the movie time span.
They wanted to do a SAW Tamil version and it came out just like a Tamil version of any Hollywood movie.
Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru (2017)
Theeran - Where the director takes you to the Horror world of notorious robbery gang
H.Vinoth has given a cult movie !! PERIOD.
The film is a horror-thriller roller coaster. The director gradually holds your hand and takes you to the ride and pushes from a dizzying height of horror and thriller to narrate his true story on notorious Bawaria robbery gang.
As a person who have watched few of the top horror thriller genre movies , but this movie will send chills down your spine , mainly because it has the element of locality, something close happening in India.
Director has taken lots of pain in detailing the movie and as far as i remember, there aren't much holes left , eve in the scene were the gang will stop the train , if you listen closely , the passengers will say " this is the usual mischief done by the train traveler" , so there the director has given us a reason that this thing is common , so the train after a short while starts to move. Or else we know it will take much longer time for the train to start after emergency stop is activated.
Small things like these and also not deviating from the core and giving us the whole anatomy of this notorious gang right from their root has only strengthened the story and it makes the whole narration and the gang stick close to our heart.
In most movie the enemy will be hyped till a certain point and after that his fate nose dives from there. But here the director has kept the hype - and it sticks too till almost three quarter of the movie , there my making us tremble each time we learn about the gang.
Karti has done EXCELLENT EXCELLENT acting. He has played it aptly. I don't think anyone would have fit the role , may be Kamal ?
Love sequence are the only downers in this movie.
Overall i would say this is the BEST MOVIE in TAMIL FOR 2017 !!
Movies like these elate the Tamil industry to new heights.
Not for the faint hearted though..
Thupparivaalan (2017)
An Indian Sherlock Holmes version
Mysskin has taken the essence and given us an Indian version of Sherlock Holmes. He has truly stuck to the core of Sherlock and produced one of the best thriller in Tamil movie. Vishal has excelled in his role. The background score , the fight sequence is top notch.
One small request to Mysskin , make Thupparivaalan Part 2.
Vivegam (2017)
All of Ajith's Hardwork goes waste .. really disappointing.
The very thing i want to openly agree is Ajith's hard work is very evident and one doesn't need a blooper reel to show to us all his efforts. The movie can be divided into 5-8 segments , and each of these segments are put on a timer. In the hope to show the movie as fast paced action , the cinematographer has given us a nausea inducing visuals. The dialogues inside the Anit-Terrorist HQ is cringe worthy , including the replies and dialogues from the Anti-terrorist squad. Its also best not to talk about the intro scene where all the logic is thrown from the dam before the scene has been started to shoot. The background score is below average with monotones playing in action sequence. The last song again is cringe-worthy. The romantic song "Kadhalaada" is more like song taken from some advertisement.
In one scene Ajith is betrayed by his friends and thrown off from a hill(?) and he hangs to a tree while his friends keep shooting from above . He then falls , recovers by healing his wounds, starts a small life there , builds his tents and starts his exercise by doing all crazy things.. The question is , why cant he simply come back to his home and recover there ? Also cant the villain send few down the hill to see whether he is dead or not ? The place doesn't look so deserted either , the scene is there simply to put a song and show that he will anything since he has given word to his wife. But he simply imagines that she will be safe while he is doing exercises in a forest and recovering from bullet wounds.. What kind of logic is that ?
We also have the worst villain ever , in fact we can say he is more like a compère in praising his enemy Ajith in a school function.
Kajal's scene which are supposed to ooze with emotions , is nothing but a speed breaker , at least these are the moments our eyes could take rest from the seizure inducing cinematography.
Ajiths presence is the only saving grace in this movie. He should really pick scripts which are at least believable and suits his way of acting.
