Predator (1987)
80's Awesomeness
Haven't seen this movie in years, so I was kinda expecting that it has lost some steam over the years. However, this is one of the few movies that holds up. This is one of the quintessential action flicks that ever got made, of course by the master himself, John McTiernan. If you haven't seen this one, what the hell is wrong with you, this is amazing and pretty much the best performance you'll ever get out of Arnie... In a world where Michael Bay and Zack Snyder have their own respective movie franchises I have to keep wondering why no one gives McTiernan another chance... If you ever want to see awesome action movies (regardless of the time they were made) you have to see this, and the other movies McTiernan made (Die Hard, all I have to say...). All in all this is a well made and well paced action flick with Schwarzenegger in his prime and an awesome supporting cast. If you haven't seen this by now, what the hell is wrong with you?!
Raiders of the Lost Shark (2015)
Stupid as hell, horrible acting, yet somehow fun
This film is incredibly stupid, poorly acted and plain horrible, however I really enjoyed this one. It reminds me of the films we did ourselves, a fun project that never was supposed to be more than that. As this is a stupid movie with sharks I'll have to make the obvious comparison to Sharknado. The effects are pretty much as bad as Sharknado, but the film just has more heart, you can see how the 'actors' actually try to make this work, so I would consider this film to actually be better. I'm not really sure what most of the people who saw this actually expected, but if you ever tried to make a movie yourself this is pretty much how it will turn out, which makes this actually enjoyable.
Nightcrawler (2014)
Pretty Awesome
As a European it's kind of hard to relate to this movie at the beginning, we're not used to that much of a media impact. Especially the first scene where the cops rescue the girl from the car crash, I would literally beat the crap out of those reporters. Nevertheless this is a great and very dark movie with excellent cast and very good performances. Jake Gyllenhaal is insanely believable in his role and should have been rewarded with an Oscar nod. I still don't understand how this film received less admiration than American Sniper, this is by far the better movie with the far more talented lead actor and cast. If you haven't seen this one yet do it right away. Unless you're looking for switch-your-brain-of popcorn movies, you'd be disappointed by this one.
Oldboy (2013)
DAFAQ did I just see?
In all my time since I'm with IMDb I've encountered my fair share of bad movies... I'm not a big fan of Spike Lee, but for some unknown reason I did believe this film might be acceptable. I love the original and I really thought the Hollywood remake might be OK 'cause the actors are actually pretty good. But after seeing this I would like to punch myself for taking the time to watch this piece of garbage. I managed to keep silent even after Twilight and the Hunger Games, but even those crappy movies are acceptable compared to this atrocity. Why would you try to make a remake of an obviously awesome movie???? And why the hell does it have to be Spike Lee, who is only famous 'cause he's racist (yea, black people can be racist too). I would now beg anyone who has seen the original to not watch this movie, but I'm well aware of the fact that those people watch it anyways. To those who haven't seen the original, watch the original and try to forget this remake... If I was a really bad person I'd say that Spike Lee is the black Uwe Boll(sorry Spike Lee, no person on earth should be compared to him...)
