The Bonfire of the Vanities (1990)
Could of been great but it's the directing
This film has always been in the corner of my eye over the years. In my youth, I recalled this film being chewed up by the critics and was considered a financial disaster. It's impressive with so many talented individuals, how could this happened? However, success isn't always guaranteed by the amount of talent.
So I decided to watch this 'disaster' and give it ago. The story is fine and prevalent even today. I think it's a modern classic which may put live those who were in the film version.
I'm watching this and thinking there must be something missing. I'm realizing Brian De Palma's strength isn't in satire. The film has many wonderful technical direction but no well directed humor. I feel as if the actors were told to exaggerate their performance so it would add towards the witticism.
I've enjoyed Brian De Palma previous work. I'm looking forward to reading the book in the future. I think some viewers will look past the performances and meditate on the story.
The Tomorrow War (2021)
How Many Sci-fi Films Can One Rip Off?
When in doubt just steal from all the great films and sprinkle screen time equity. Go watch Edge Of Tomorrow, The Thing and read The Forever War.

Rarely Do I Write Reviews....
But this was so bad and full of cringe. Viewers should be warned. Every headline below this review with a 1 or 2 star best represents this show. I think TBS was looking for a financial loss.
Adventures of Johnny Tao (2007)
Perfect for you Saturday Mornings
If you're waking up in the morning and tired of watching bad re-runs of Power Rangers...this is a good alternative. The imaginative tale of Kung Fu, Comedy, Demons & Rock-Billy is fused quite well.
The story begins with an ancient Chinese Demon trapped for centuries and released in a small soon to be ghost town. Johnny Tao is young kid dealing with pressures of taking care of his brother and struggling in an economically crushed town. The only thing keeping him going is watching/studying classic Kung Fu films. Now you have Demons running a mock...so what is a teen too do?....Kick some ass.
This mixer keeps the movie going and enjoyable to watch. Recommend checking it out with your kids.
