On Air: Storia di un successo (2016)
Grandissimo Marco Mazzoli!!! Grazie di Esistere!!!
Ciao MRD! I AM GLAD TO BE THE FIRST ONE WRITING A REVIEW FOR THIS MOVIE! Public Exposing in first person is never easy: tell or represent ourselves, even on radio, in a book or in a movie, can give sometime quite a hard time. The first is the most problematic. It is about losing the real perception of the self and provide too much follow up
to a certain narcissistic trend of represent the person how you would like to project yourself.
The second is to give in to the fear of judgment external and losing the strength that really pushes to tell.
Eight years after the disappointing The early bird catches the worm, which saw film Elio Germano interpret Marco Baldini, the Italian cinema returns to look to the radio world thanks to Marco Mazzoli, 43-year old historic conductor of the program Zoo 105, which he designed in 1999 and again Today most listened to program in Italy, with an average of 1,200,000 listeners every quarter hour and about 4 million listeners day. On Air - History of Success is nothing more than hagiography of San Marco Mazzoli interpreted by him and his cousin David Simon Mazzoli scripted and directed, taking a cue from the book published in 2011 by Rizzoli entitled 'X-ray of a DJ who does not like'. Because Mazzoli for over 15 years divides listeners, between those who venerate their scurrilous and irreverent language and those who don't, wondering day and night how can he even get aired.
SEMPLICEMENTE UN GRANDISSIMO FILM DEL GRANDISSIMO MARCO MAZZOLI! GRAZIE MARCO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Emmanuele (ZOO Fan since 1999)
The Conjuring (2013)
One of the best horrors of the last decades
The evocation - The Conjuring is a horror film of 2013 directed by James Wan , based on the true events in 1971 , with Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson and Lili Taylor. The film is about one of the most disturbing cases happened to Mr and Mrs Warren , who are called by the Perron family , terrified because for quite some time in their new home is going something really horrible doors that open themselves from the sun, the mysterious death their dog and presences that do not leave the family in peace . It's up to Ed Warren and Loranne discover and deal with this threat that will prove to be very powerful and ruthless . In addition to surprise the huge success it is having in the world in terms of receipts, Evocation - The Conjuring surprisingly also for the way in which it was made . James Wan has improved a lot with the master socket , and if with Insidious had done a great job with this film is even better. Shots really well made and disturbing chills , atmosphere typical of the '80s movie realized with skill that can give a sense of oppression , sound effects typical of the old horror that can make you stop the heart and actors who play really well . From the plot , the film seems to be the typical ghost story but it is not. In fact, the film is also the theme of exorcism (it was the time of The Exorcism of Emily Rose, who was not treated so well the genre ) and the family that is not trivialized as happens in other movies. In the film, there are also tributes to old horror such as The Exorcist but also films like The Prince of Darkness and many others. A film that uses the tricks of the old school horror in an original way .
Rush (2013)
A legendary duel
World Championship Formula 1 - 1976 . After a series of battles in the lower formulas , the Englishman James Hunt and extroverted womanizer and the Austrian champion Niki Lauda introverted and meticulous compete in the race for the world title with no holds barred . Ron Howard has the great merit of being able to bring to the screen with great effectiveness one of the great duels that inflame the world sports in many disciplines . Light years now separated Formula 1 then from today , on the one hand that's good because you have made huge steps to ensure the safety of drivers and fortunately the number of serious accidents is significantly reduced. On the other hand the progress and development of the technology have made the reign of the current Formula 1 engineers and telemetry a fact which has removed much of the epic from this sport. So here we are in 1976 and catapulted in part in previous years to see the challenge between two completely different ways of being both from the human point of view both sports . Hunt exuberant , sculptural and surrounded by women and friends and obsessed with winning a world championship. Lauda , a little more meticulous and does not care to please people . The fact is that beyond the mutual rivalry the two are estimated and respect . The accident at the Nurburgring in Lauda ( think of a GP 22 km long that unraveled in the middle of a forest creeps ) is reconstructed in detail . At the same time the film does not skimp on the track of great shots and sequences of the GP in Monza with the Austrian return to racing after a month and a half from the terrible fire of his Ferrari with a sensational fourth place and the epic final race to Fuji is a real treat for the eyes. Howard said that gives us a very good film ( and make movies about Formula 1 is not at all easy ) the cast behaves really well : Hensworth finally stops on the role of Thor and it shows all. Top of the situation and the real surprise is Bruhl perfect in the role of Lauda and with a great trick for the aftermath of the accident. Well the female protagonists and a mention also to our Field bean that appears in some scenes in the role of companion Lauda , Regazzoni . In short, a tribute to the Formula 1 that was where the pilot was also mechanic and engineer but unfortunately where death was tragically commonplace.
Breaking Bad: Felina (2013)
Perfect Ending for a Perfect Series
Walter White has problems. He has cancer and has to leave the money to his family . Walter White is very good at solving problems. In the final episode , Breaking Bad seems back to the beginning . The circle theme is accomplished. Everything, however, is more desperate . There seems to be scope for a happy ending . But the creator Vince Gilligan has fun as usual to displace the public, to play with the expectations of the audience. Beginning with the title of the last episode : Felina . Anagram of "final" , which retains the same meaning in Italian and English. Or is a reference to the song Feleena Marty Robbins , which urged the hero to flee to New Mexico ? It is the last episode , 55 minutes and 23 seconds left to the very end of Breaking Bad , but the camera lingers on even seemingly insignificant gestures . We have time to see his hands trembling with cold, chips inserted into a pay phone , crafting a wooden box. And it is right , there is no reason to hurry . The series complies with its stylistic traits until the last moment. And then , all the dominoes are in place . The last five episodes of the series can be said to be the true ending . Now you only need that Heisenberg do what it does best : give it a shot to the cards and start the last fall . And with one last goodbye from spectators with fireworks.
Without giving spoilers (for those go to end of the article , and if our readers are so treacherous , in the comments) , suffice it to say this : the ending of Breaking Bad is fully satisfactory . There are no half measures , nodes in abeyance . Appear all the characters that you can expect , and even more unexpected . There are times when Heisenberg is at its best . Where viewers cringe idea of what it can do , but then (maybe) breathe a sigh of relief. Walter White has lost all his humanity ? The episode answers (in part) to this question also . If nothing else, finally , Walt looks in the mirror .
Meanwhile on Twitter unleashed reactions . In the United States , as might be expected , there are those who loved the ending, there are those who hated and those who are disappointed. And Damon Lindelof , one of the authors of the infamous Lost finale , becomes the target of tweets along the lines of " This is how you end a show , he learns ." But the comparison is unfair , because the two series have very little or nothing in common such as style, themes or characters .
The trip was breath-taking , but at the end of Breaking Bad has found a worthy destination ? The judgment belongs to the fans. What can you expect , really, for Walter White? A reunion with the family? An escape at the last minute ? A death from cancer , or in prison , or a final challenge with his opponents ? Probably , depending on the expectations , the path chosen by the team of Gilligan leave you with a bitter taste in your mouth. It is inevitable . That's the beauty of Breaking Bad .
Only God Forgives (2013)
More than a film a 'work of art'
Julian trains boxers in Bangkok Thai boxing because he has killed his father and he has left nothing but flee from America where the mother is the head of a mafia . His brother followed him but has not adapted to the local life and yet another prostitute is murdered his ticket to the morgue . This is not tolerable and the head of the family moved to Bangkok willing to do justice in his own way . The rules of Bangkok are not , however, the American and the chain of revenge stops immediately when it touches a retired cop Handler skilled with swords that responds to the blood with more blood . In a world where everyone is mobilized to revenge the more inadequate , however, appears to be just Julian . He went up in Thailand Nicolas Winding Refn to shoot a movie Asia, a work that begins with a plot taken from genre films and , as the best B-movie , tumble the narrative , removing all tinsel and any redundancy to let just a gesture , a detail or movement carried out and tell mentioned events. His film of revenge, deprived of all characters between speculation and told showing even less essential, is a whirlwind of murders with the clutter of a logical link between them , in which the most important deities in the field ( Asian cinema and western) are retrieved from the choice of noise is that of the drawn swords of gun shots , a series of sounds that do not belong to the library of intellectual cinema but more to those kinds of hyperbolic . Only God forgives so is the final odyssey of a man who chose the Thai boxing as a childhood does not work after a simple and murder on his shoulders, a child is not suitable for the family business which is having to get the ends of the violent world in which he lives to try , despite himself, to where it is able to go , finding an unexpected closed. Red lamps , logos red , red lights of the slums , gyms and brothels , blood red and red lettering (according to the director is the only color that his blindness enables him to distinguish ) frame a film with very few words , a bare-bones plot and mounting essential imprinted on the big scenes . The center of the remains then staged photography, the way Refn stand and admire these beautiful terrified depths of savagery . It is clear that there is something in the act of slaughter attractive to the Danish director , in the exercise of the strength of a man on top of another resides an unknowable mystery that attracts and frightens him at the same time . These gestures choose to show in great detail with which captures the obvious beauty (present in both Pusher 3 that in brawls or martyrdoms of Bronson and Valhalla Rising in the explosions of blood Drive) but which is concerned with the horrendous consequences evident dismay. In a world ( of genre cinema and vengeance movies ) in which there is no forgiveness or at best is reserved for God , as indeed also remind many titles Italian '70s, his protagonist is not a hero but a loser on several fronts , the younger brother harassed by a mother mistress and unable to perpetrate his revenge as the other characters in the film . Which to interpret both Ryan Gosling, Hollywood face and then heroic by definition, is the only thing really surprising but basically in line with the anticommercial choices and very sophisticated the film. Unfortunately not always visual search is at the level of legitimate expectations nor the idea of being able to paint the purity (for better or for worse) of violence can really materialize . Refn knows how to bring to the screen image for a formal perfection and communicative impressive (the power of the former policeman summed up in the uniformed colleagues who follow him constantly as bodyguards but dumb and unexpected reconciliation kindergarten through immersion in the flesh of a laceration in the belly) but this time the impression is that it is not enough.
After Earth (2013)
It seems to watch a SCI-FI version of "Persuit of Happiness"
Will Smith returns to the cinema with his son with a project that he himself realized that the danger is real , but the fear is only one choice . Kitai is the son of General Raige Cypher , who had not received a promotion to ranger , he finds himself at a later time with his father after a highly successful landing in the planet that the Earth has remained devoid of human presence for many years as uninhabitable . The land is no longer what it once was , other forms of life have evolved but against the ' man as well as the ' atmosphere now devoid of oxygen but rich in other gases altogether unfavorable to him . Will Smith as the author decides to step aside and make way for his son Jaden , who entrusted him with the difficult title role in a process of artistic maturation that in the years ahead will be to consolidate more and more and thus sets the record straight in a hostile world , in front of the various difficulties of the case , puts a great deal of confidence in him and it is in this faith that dwells in his will guarantee him a future as an actor , once paved the way , he has already done and will continue to do until the child does not declare itself ready to take the road already paved his father , at which point he will need to achieve its goals. After Earth in the end, is a commercial product but Jaden Smith holds the lead role without hesitation , has no doubt and does not regret his father had made a choice so delicate among other very much based on trust and this despite the rewards still much to learn from his father in this movie Will Smith has the ' right attitude to the role of General Cypher Raige that fits him well apart from the uniform that gives it a considerable charm . The director makes a subtle but its part , the plot is too simple , I thought it was more complex , the mount fails well because of the sudden transition from one scene to another unnecessarily justification is that with the ' dim the screen and unfortunately the script is very little cared for, how is it that the general Cypher Raige we find him after the impact , if injured on the basket just before the breaking of the ship had been sucked due to the pressure difference '. The installation and the script with the plot meant that the film is not showing a masterpiece, Afterhearth Earth is just a good movie and it can be considered that for the breathtaking scenery , one of the most beautiful I have ever seen, for the ' good pace that keeps the audience glued to the chair , for good photography and acting first and foremost that of Will Smith , followed by that of his son who does not mind and that of many others such as that of the same wife of Will Smith , here also as producer . Another very positive note is represented by the father - son relationship , a relationship that the same Will Smith decides to make difficult and opt for a happy ending , is the first child as if it were in the academy and it is believed available for a hug that starts liberating and ends with a lot of tears in his eyes and in so doing retrieves the relationship with his son who has just fought hostilities. Overall it is a good movie that could have been done much better, Will Smith then made a good project although among its strengths and weaknesses and then partially Smith loses his chance , he has sinned in writing the film and the director has reported the only major flaw Smith's in the script . Too bad , the film had all the credentials to be a masterpiece, but the severe shortcomings of the script have not made it possible. Will Smith still had a good idea even if not original , it has the ability to make the writer, but next time , should it come to his mind to write another film, the script must be more careful and if you can churn out films will be a high level.
This Is the End (2013)
freewheeling craziness
It is a film so stupid that makes you doubt that it is clever ( ?) The question remains of how everything is intended or unintended . Certainly the idea is original and intelligent to interpret the role of the actors themselves, that is a group of Hollywood actors involved to get high as they could at a party super- kitsch , when the apocalypse comes . The two authors Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg , along with Judd Apalow , carry on for some years a type of teen comedy - demented , which is added in this case a portion of the John Belushi's catastrofism. The great Belushi had , however , for his neurotic character , a note of self- irony here is much less noticeable . There is a total identification being spoiled , selfish , superficial . The childishness irremediable , the actors - characters put out in front of the drama of the end of the world , it is absolutely convincing enough to make me think if by chance they are not really so or this is rather an indication of directors are directors or to be childish ( complication : Seth Rogen is both an actor and director), the fact is that throughout the movie I had no doubt that these people are more or less so in reality. Doubt reinforced by the fact that Emma Watson ( Hermione Henry Potter ) is also present in the role of herself and instead has a behavior quite "normal" for the situation , quite different from the others, that look like real idiots . Having created this effect of ambiguity seems to me already an extraordinary result ( pure craziness : the artist - not the zany character - seems insane without being one ) , only that it would be worthwhile to see the movie . For a good chunk of the movie you do not know what will happen , and so far its ramshackle vulgarity is tolerable , with moments of comedy in my opinion failed. Then when the voltage has to find a solution, the story slips into banality. The finish is so obvious and silly as to be almost irrelevant. An experiment challenging but ends in a caricatured .
The Kings of Summer (2013)
If you loved Stand By Me This is for you. Moises Arias steals the show!!!
Three unhappy teenagers run away from the sophisticated city life and take refuge in nature, where they plan to build a makeshift home and live off the land, to finally be masters of their own destiny. Once you arrive at your destination, you make it reality, however, realize that the wild is much tougher as the imagined.
Biaggio (Moises Arias), the very rare embodiment of social awkwardness and complete and total lack of personal sophistication teenager, that invokes a combination of amazement, bewilderment, and pity simultaneously from the common viewer. It's a role that cannot be explained...only watched. He is quite possibly one of the best comedic performances I have ever seen a young performer give. It's a wonderfully bizarre role that fully encompasses both the awkwardness and the sincerity of a social misfit. The role is so over-the-top that it's amazing that Arias can make it look so natural and genuine. His acting was spot on and absolutely hilarious. Loved it!
Disconnect (2012)
Very clever, very well executed.
A widower police officer converted himself into a private detective to have more time for his son, a bully who , through a fake facebook profile , plays with the sentiments of a peer more introverted . An attorney that can not pull his eyes and ears from the phone, even at dinner, and does not see what is happening under his roof, to his children. A TV producer sees the tool to package a report of success in a guy who sells the hard chat with other minors. Another woman , recovering from a deep mourning , seeks solace from a stranger online, while her husband goes into debt . Immersed in the virtual world , disconnected from one to another , the lives of these people are brutally shattered by reality and intertwined by fate. The former documentary filmmaker Rubin chooses without hesitation a multilinear structure and a cast unassailable . The model is Crash by Paul Haggis , also mentioned in the basic theme, or the loneliness of the individual of the real world of virtual communication total , but the result is much less lavish. Yet , in this case , it is not an absolute bad . If , in fact, exacerbate the slow motion and the sets of internal standard , and the direction is still more than ever devoid of personality , the look of television is at least consistent with the assumption in the argument, the argument without even trying to deny it. Putting aside a different expectation , then Disconnect gives the best of itself in the meshes of the script, because , if the structure is schematic to say the least , the scenes inside them are not at all : well-written , tense and well interpreted. First , in this sense , it is perhaps Frank Grillo, but more than credible is also evidence of Jason Bateman on the front dramatic tout court , while Skarsgård is third in the standings , engaged in a problematic character of ex-military , struggling with himself before that with the enemy , which still seems matching him. Too bad that , paradoxically but not too much , overexposure of technological tools of visual communication - mobile phones, tablets , laptops - not a disservice to the film which decides on the aesthetics without there being a real need . And not just because much of what happens is not attributable solely to carriers and only technology, but because the film quality , the one with Fincher's The Social Network, to make an excellent example , has shown that there are alternatives , and how .
By following a few parallel stories, the film illustrates the dangers which brings serious use of the Internet and various web services (especially social networking). The intertwined stories relaxing in a fluid and effective narrative until the final denouement, which gives cause for reflection avoiding the extreme drama, as if to give the characters a further possibility of repentance. And most of that atrocious jokes to the detriment of the weaker pupils, or sensationalist journalism and child pornography via the Web, or on finding a comfort and a friendly voice through social networks, the film focuses its attention on the increasingly difficult relationships between parents and children: generations who do not talk, they do not share anything, because the Web and the use of computers and other technological innovations invade every possible space of dialogue, in which talk about their problems, their own solitude, own inner emptiness. And sure merit of the film is to reflect, without rhetoric, about how much is still important the word "talk" (and not "chat"!) Looking into his eyes.
Separate Tables (1958)
Cinema of speech, but of impeccable packaging.
The owner of a British pension shall endeavor to settle the difficulties of communication and coexistence among its guests solitary. Taken from a famous comedy (1955) by Terence Rattigan (who took care of the adaptation with John Gay), is above all a film of actors.
This is definitely one of the best movies I've ever seen. The fact that everything that happens in a small hotel in Bournemouth (England), without violence, without special effects, without thousands of extras and big expense says it all. Outstanding performance by a cast of stars, including David Niven. He gripped from beginning to end, but by modern standards in a gentle way. A film perhaps especially for women, but as a man I can only say that I found very moving. I always go to see a movie every time you present as ever. A classic.
On 7 Oscar nominations had the D. Niven and W. Hiller. Cinema of speech, but of impeccable packaging.
The Adjustment Bureau (2011)
You have the perception of free will
David Norris, a young man with the vice of politics, is a candidate for the office of senator in the state of New York. In Jurassic advantage over his opponent, David points throughout his campaign on the freshness of his few years and a talent as oratory. But the funny pictures , untimely published by the press , compromises his victory , assuring nevertheless sympathy, trust and vote of Elise , a promising dancer met by chance in the men's room. Falling in love in the time of a kiss, David and Elise take their leave to seek and find themselves on the streets and on buses in New York. Their love , however, is not written in the book of the President , a sort of deus ex machina that decides the fate of men. Elise was not included in existential journey of David and therefore the guardians of destiny, operatives of the President in suit and Borsalino , will deflect , ironing out the kinks and ensuring a greater plan . Claiming free will , David will challenge superior orders with head shots and heart. After (probably) an acid well done, Philip K. Dick saw a spring inside the seventies the programmer to program our lives on earth. That direct experience of ' ecstasy ' revealed ' the truth ' , that is to say that men are the means by which it accomplishes the design of the Great Puppeteer . From another experiment , this time of literary creation and in any case aligned with the mystical , came into being The Adjustment Bureau , short story by American author transposed to the screen by George Nolfi . Romantic thriller , The Adjustment Bureau combines strong moments , tense adrenalin emotions , with closed loops in themselves to the pursuit of emotion and the realization of a gorgeous love . While Matt Damon fights the dark antagonist that causes him to beat a desired path , the film raises the obsessions of Dick on the need to distinguish objective reality from the subjective, the idea of the plot as a plot hatched against the individual, the obsessive surveillance exercised by the apparatus of power . The original title ( The Adjustment Bureau) anticipates the step that leads to the film , the advance towards the desired outcome for the protagonist to be a presence or ' presidency ' top . The entity has an arm that controls officers armed with Borsalino scrupulous men move along predetermined lines without compromising the final result , without peer behind the door of the near future. But David Norris does not want to take part in the event planned , proceeding in the direction obstinate and contrary . The Adjustment Bureau is yet another adaptation of Dick's trying to read the contemporary with a look that borrows from its pages fundamental themes ( the crisis of the subject, the essential falsity of our perceptions, the presence of parallel realities , etc. ) marking the ' soul unlike other works , influenced by his literary world without being direct transpositions ( Memento , If the Spotless Mind , eXistenZ ) . Without having the merits of aesthetic innovation , however the romantic thriller Nolfi (writer of The Bourne Ultimatum ) finds its strength in the protagonist . So The Adjustment Bureau is one of those movies that are worth seeing just because. Just because there is Matt Damon, flushed from Eastwood took his mask ( Hereafter ) and recovered its identity. Staying true to the concept that the character is action and clutching the hand of the woman he loves, Matt Damon through the doors of a New York ' liquid ' and marks the point of transition : from actor to actor to being. So Nolfi revealing the matrix reveals the star . A movie star good . Bravo seriously.
Adam (2009)
Torments of love and psychiatry
Adam is a young electronic engineer that works for a factory that makes toys. His passion is astronomy. His fate seems to be loneliness because it is afflicted with the Asperger's syndrome. It is a form of autism that inhibits the person the opportunity to understand the real intentions of anyone beyond appearances. One day in the laundry room, he meets Beth, a children's books writer who teaches in a school. A love story could happen between the two. There are small movie that at first seem to cover the roads already widely traveled. This is the case of Adam in which the two protagonists meet themselves bringing many good reasons not to believe in the possibility of a relationship with each other. The story, again with the feeling of deja vu, then seems to move towards the most classic of the genre happy ending 'disabled on the screen'. But it is not true and it is not even the opposite. Because the film of Mayer (thanks to the remarkable performance of Hugh Dancy and Rose Byrne) onto the road of research that you leave behind the predictable romance for insight into the more complex search of what it means to love and be loved. All this through discordant note as the subplot of the legal proceedings of the father of Beth and her relationship with the girl's mother. Would have been better just focus on the dynamics of a relationship between those who (Beth) had always believed to have the role in the life of the Little Prince and then discover that they are actually the Pilot. Saint Exupéry, once again, has something to give to the movies.
Y tu mamá también (2001)
Mr. Cuaròn... What A Style!!!
Julio and Tenoch are two seventeen year old friends who have a great desire to grow up. At a party they know a twenty-eight Spanish woman, Louisa, which they court together at the same time. She is a mixture of vitality and sadness, but is able to accept the proposal of a journey in three to a beach called Boca del Cielo that the two do not really know where it is. Suddenly, almost by mistake they finally arrive at the "so desired" beach. The trip will allow the eroticism and youth not exclude the pain. It is a film that has a beginning quite heavy but then it finds its ability to read feelings.
A great on the road movie!
The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)
A Useless Remake. Come on there was no need for this!
It is now almost ten years since the couple Raimi - Maguire , brought to the big screen the fifth Marvel film, Spiderman , receiving critical acclaim and box office and a worldwide success. With this remake (now they say "reboot" because it's cooler) , they tried to repeat these successes without succeed and now I'll explain why.
Let's begin to talk about the cast, in SM there were Maguire, Franco, Dunst, Simmons, Banks, and Dafoe, where rare case they chose to hire a protagonist who is not the usual handsome jock, but a normal average looking guy - capable of great interpretation, Maguire is not only a good actor, but for the role of Peter he has trained physically for over six months, this means commitment . As for the antagonist, Dafoe is certainly much better than Ifans, even though Goblin does not become as muscled as Lizard that looks like a scaled Hulk complete with a retinue and claws. In general it seems that in The Amazing Sm, they have assembled a cast that would attract people to the box office, in fact Garfield and Stone are actors who are particularly popular and fashionable lately, as well as the director that it certainly does not have many arrows in his bow.
As for the plot , there have been small distortions that currently seem unnecessary, like the story of the death of the parents of Peter, the lack of Bugle and Mary Jane, things that we could have also be in it if the changes would have brought narrative improvements, which unfortunately are absent. It seems that they simply wanted to overdo it by copying the idea from the new Batman of DC, where, however, Garfield is not worth a fingernail of Bale and Webb does not even deserve to replace the toilet paper of Mr.Nolan. The strange thing is that Marvel had already managed to greatly improve a character with a remake, I'm referring to Hulk and The Incredible Hulk, there it made sense to reinvent a character from scratch to make a better film than the previous with different spans, as opposed to comparing to this new Sm, where the only improvement is the technical one, and not even that much, personally I expected a lot more action scenes and fights (after all, if a person would want a dull movie you would rent the dull ' "The horse Whisperer", no?) .
The only significant innovations are the fabulous cameo by Stan Lee and the secret ending after the credits .
I would like to say one thing to the producers, writers , director and actors in this little Amazing Spiderman: with great power comes great responsibility, you could have made a great Film, I even went to the cinema to watch this piece of crap, and you have barely been able to reach the same level of the old film. Just awful!
Great Expectations (2012)
Discrete Romantic Movie
1812, England. The young orphan Pip, who lives in the countryside with her sister's family , after giving food to a fugitive which is then recaptured by the guards, is summoned to the residence of a rich lady. She lives without ever looking at the sunlight after a sentimental trauma and wants Pip to play along with another girl, Estella, who lives in the castle of which he falls madly in love. Decades later Pip will be informed that an unknown benefactor will take care of him and he has to go to London to become a gentleman. It will be in the big city , once accepted the new status, where the many mysteries will begin to be revealed. Mike Newell, director of Four Weddings and a Funeral ( and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) adapts a script author of One Day ( book and film) from " Great Expectations " by Charles Dickens. The melange of styles , influences, personal inclinations and strengths of each of the heads that have made possible this new Great Expectations is aimed at classical and faithful rendition of the book but ends up taking a turn more romantic than historical , more centered on the stories love ( that of Pip and Estella to Miss Havisham that ended badly ) and personal relationships ( the bromance deep and emotional between Pip and the blacksmith Joe Gargery ) rather than the interweaving of the plot, the action of the final or contrast among the many classes that were being consolidated in England in the first half of 800 . The Jeremy Irvine's Pip , however, is not an ambitious climber as in the book but more an astonished witness to the horrors of the fashionable upper classes . Newell removes the voice-over that adaptations in the past had often translated the first-person narrative of the book and move a few episodes from forward to reverse over time while remaining very faithful to the book as a whole, it contains the most important phrases along with large chunks . What crease instead is what he does best , i.e. telling lightly ( and apparently without giving importance ) the way in which feelings affect the actions of the characters . Everything that happens in his Great Expectations is caused by an exaggerated sentimentality (both infinite gratitude , a deep hatred , dignity incorruptible or a undying love ) , also plans warps with more mathematical calculation , but this is never the center of the film, as a natural order of things that rule life. Without providing scenes of great impact ( like the one where Pip let the light into the decadent residence to free Estella Havisham , closing the large version of the 1946 David Lean ) this latter recurrence , because of its sentimental push, aims more on the landscapes and characters, like photography and acting, focusing on the actors and the places in which they are added to give a new meaning to an old story. The result is a great illustration and a small film. There are some of the most significant places in which two sincere friends can rest caressed by the wind , dark fortresses of cobwebs from which sprout angelic faces and crannies of the city of fetid wood ready to become the metropolis of steel, but the story is weak and the dynamism the book is lost in the continuous chase dismayed faces of the actors rather than the many twist of history.
Overall an enjoyable movie, very well acted and beautifully shot. (p.s. you will definitely enjoy it more if you haven't read the C. Dickens book)
Breaking Bad: Confessions (2013)
Holy Fcuk! I truly didn't expect this!
Wow! I guess this is one of the great things about this series: it is so mind blowing and always with an unexpected twist on every episode.
This time the episode starts slow like if nothing happened before, the interview between Hank and Jessie went even more quiet than expected but then comes the first twist Walter decides to make a confession but hey, is not a normal confession, it actually is a way to frame Hank. Good idea! Then the episode continue fine but right at the end, whenever you less expect it here comes the major twist: Walter wants to kill Jessie now. WOW! Walter is really a cold blooded bad bad person but hey, we all knew that! Only a cold hearted person like him could have create the empire he created.
The next episode is going to be THE BOMB!
Breaking Bad (2008)
Best Series of All Times
The sudden change of a common man. Walter White, placid high school teacher, was taken ill with an incurable disease. Turns out not to have anything to lose by becoming a drug dealer to ensure a bright future for his family.
Breaking Bad is without a doubt the most realistic, vivid, perfectly executed, psychedelic, brilliant, Mind Blowing, Stunning Comedy-Drama Series ever!!! It beats even Twin Peaks and I am a huge D.Lynch fan imagine that! Bryan Cranston is a hell of an actor, he deserves to be crowned in the Hollywood firmament and Vince Gilligan is a visionary genius. Masterpiece.
Oblivion (2013)
A total rip-off from several other movies!
First of all M83 shame on you for have copied basically all of Hans Zimmer's tunes. I usually love all of your music, I adore Before the Dawn Heals Us, Saturdays=Youth, Hurry Up, We're Dreaming and when I realized that you were composing for Oblivion I was happy and expected something original but
no. Nothing new actually the same notes and tunes that H. Zimmer is utilizing composing for movies. On the other hand Oblivion copies almost everything from the concepts already utilized with moon, road warrior, Wall-E (even Wall-E for god's sake!), independence day
etc
etc
Nevertheless if there weren't all these movies before Oblivion was going to be just an OK movie, nothing more. However the actors acted well especially the female ones, T.C.
OK nothing significant. 3 out of 10 because it was a whole copycat project.
Goddess (2013)
Laura Michelle Kelly is really a GODDESS and she should keep up with the acting and singing!
A musical comedy about the history of Elspeth Dickens, who loves to sing and would like to be able to achieve fame thanks to her vocal capabilities. The problem is that she is stuck on a farm with her twins. The installation of a web cam on her computer and the Internet allow you to embark on her journey to stardom, but there will be a pretty high price to pay.
Goddess is an original totally new musical very fun to watch and entertaining. It deserves a better rating than just a 5. The musics are OK but what it is extremely important about this title is the stand out of Laura Michelle Kelly which perform fantastically. It definitely IS a must watch for those who love musical genre. Definitely not a let down but it equals several other musicals plus all with its own style (australian "british" humor). Againg Laura M. Kelly was just great with her performance and she totally should be seen more often on screen moreover if she sings on it. 7 out of 10
Braveheart (1995)
Mel why didn't you keep going with the acting and directing????
So many reviews have been written about this film during the last two decades so I won't be extensive. Simply THE BEST MOVIE EVER MADE! I always knew this from the beginning... My opinion has never changed since back in 1995 when I first watched it, I've seen it many many time and never been tired of it. This movie works on so many levels (Plot, script, cast, action sequences) but the main one is the acting of Mel Gibson because HE IS DIRECTING HIMSELF. He knew exactly was he was doing. BRAVISSIMO. Mel's best recitation ( his second is "The Man Without a Face"). Masterpiece. Excellent. Another great element is the score by James Horner without any doubt his best score ever (his second best is Legend of the falls, then Avatar) and Mel manages to match it perfectly with his images. A PERFECT MOVIE. MAGISTRALMENTE executed!!!
Pain & Gain (2013)
Better than any of the Transformers crap!
Finally Michael Bay deals with a story that does not mess it up from the beginning towards the end. I enjoy pretty much the first Transformer but the second and the third ... awful! However this movie has a strong, real life story and he is actually really good directing it, the overall movie was very well executed, very enjoyable and fun to watch. The plot humor was quite dark because IT IS a real story that really happened but I don't believe M. Bay's intention was to idolize the characters but just to let us watch what exactly happened with lots of colorful scenes (Florida set) Michael's Bay at best so far... A must see!
