Good pacing, engaging storytelling. Building up for spin-offs?
8 November 2021
I like enjoyed this movie. The pacing was satisfying with a mix action and character development. They took time to flashback to pivotal moments in the characters past and even took the time to introduce some interesting side characters along the way.

What spin-offs of Bond do you think we could expect to see in the future, if any?

After just watching No Time to Die at cinema, I can't help but want to see a spin-off series with Q, something like an origin story and nerd out on him creating impossible secret weapons for MI6 akin to show like Scorpion and maybe a character like Sheldon from Big Bang Theory.

And Palomo would make an awesome femme fatale à la Nikita or Alias that I think people would watch.

Supergirl: Elseworlds, Part 3 (2018)
Season 4, Episode 9
2/10
Terrible ending just trying to push an agenda rather than tell a great story
26 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
What's up with the constant Superman bashing? The writers of Supergirl unrelentingly keep on putting down one of the most beloved character in DC's franchise to prop up Supergirl in some misguided feminist agenda. The whole episode felt sloppy. From the whole cast of Supergirl, extras included showing up to save the day. To the Flash & Supergirl getting their faces melted off for running/flying at superspeed... none of it made any sense. Anyone that disagrees with this needs to rewatch the first 2 parts of this crossover, to realize who terrible this ending was.

Ultraman (2019–2023)
7/10
Entertaining story but overall lacks polish
7 April 2019
I'll preface by saying that I've never seen the original Ultraman TV series and only ever seen a single Ultraman movie at a film festival before watching this series.

Overall I enjoyed the show, the story kept be interested from the first episode and the animation style feels like a unique mix of different kinds of CG. The action sequences were better produced than the drama ones where the animation felt clumsy and unnatural. Although I did like this take on the suits, felt reminiscent of the Guyver animated series.

The audio dubbing in English was not very good, and I just got the feeling that the voice actors didn't make the roles their own, just felt amateurish. The subtitles in English were also inconsistent with the dubbing. After watching several scenes from the first episodes with both on, I felt the dialogue of the English dub was more idiomatic, so I decided to go with the dubbing instated of the subtitles for this series. In the end I wouldn't recommend this, the dialogue got overly simplistic with little nuance or depth.. but maybe that would have been the case either way.

Jessica Jones (2015–2019)
8/10
Very enjoyable show with just one big flaw
23 November 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I'll start by saying I really enjoyed binge watching this show on Netflix over the course of the weekend. I love Netflix for this and wouldn't have it any other way. And I dare you not to do the same.

The show is compelling, the setting dark and the hero very conflicted. Even the antagonist manages to make the viewers feel moments of compassion for him... but mostly just disgust.

My biggest gripe with this show is that its set in Hell's Kitchen, just like Daredevil and yet we only get one character from that show, Claire Temple (the nurse), near the end of the season. Not to mention that the kingpin wasn't mentioned at all? WTF? This is supposed to be the same universe and all we get is a couple of vague mentions about a 'green guy, and a flag waver' and the Daredevil wasn't even mentioned once by name? This is unacceptable and points definitely had to be docked for this. You're better than this Marvel, you've shown how well you can tie in the Marvel Universe with Agents of Shield, and you should have put more effort into connecting Jessica Jones with the rest of the Marvel Universe.

These shortcomings aside, I still highly recommend this show and I'm giving it a 8/10.

This show doesn't get better through the season
16 September 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Warning: this review does contain spoilers from the season finale.

I was really excited about this show the beginning and had high hopes after the first couple of episodes. However, the longer the show went on the more annoyed I was with the terrible story, lame dialogue and lack intrigue in the science fiction side of the show. Even as a drama this show doesn't cut it, hardly any of the characters are likable and the show treats its audience like fools that are going to swallow the same garbage plot every episode. How many times has junior flip flopped sides now? Barbie gets put in front of the whole town for almost two full episodes and how much does he speak out in his own defense with a noose around his neck? Yeah that's right, not a word, because that what any normal person would do .. but hey lets just through believable human nature out the window.

If your reading this just don't waste your time with the show, it doesn't get better over time and has few if any redeeming qualities.

Misleading Title .. like a Korean Twilight
1 March 2013
Warning: Spoilers
The title was very misleading, I was expecting an action/thriller or even fantasy/horror werewolf movie but instead ended up getting this Korean version of Twilight.

This movie was not bad in its own respect ... if I wanted to watch a human interest or a drama though, then I would have picked up another movie.

I generally tend of avoid trailers and reading reviews before watching a movie because I hate spoilers and actually I don't like reviews or trailers that give away too much of a movie.

However, after watching this movie and being severely disappointed because there was only two short werewolf scenes, I might consider reading a review or two before investing 2+ hours in my next foreign film.

A look into the lives of four fictional Mumbai dwelling characters
9 June 2011
Full disclosure: I have never lived or visited Mumbai before.

However, I feel the director has done a great job capturing the wealth of natural beauty in the city. More interestingly, a great attentional was paid in filing the subtle beauty in the lives of every day people; the street cleaners, maids, restaurateurs, construction workers, clothes washers (as per the title of the movie) and even the cringe inducing job of a rat killer. Although that last scene was a bit graphic it just ads to "realness" of the movie in that, and you feel your getting a full 360 degree view of the city and not just a flat, one sided view of all that glitters.

This movie is not your typical Bollywood production. At no point during this movie do you feel that the author is insulting your intelligence, all the scenes are believable and well shot. If your looking for a happy go lucky musical with a convenient (read clichéd) happy ending, you should look elsewhere.

The acting and cinematography in this movie are quite enjoyable. This movie felt more like a well made Indie flick rather than a Bollywood movie, so if your a fan of the category like I am and I'll bet you'll really enjoy this movie too.
