The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008)

Original, Creative and Funny

The movie is based on a short story, it describes the life of Benjamin Button, who's mother died during his delivery, and who's father put him on the doorsteps of home when he is born with the appearance of an elderly man. The home, run by a black maid named Queenie, takes him in as a son, and people begin to see that he is in fact aging backwards, from old to young. But you wanna know what's funny? For all its preaching about unpredictable events, Benjamin button lives a pretty normal life. He worked on a boat, he worked in the navy, and then he operates a toll booth. That sounds pretty average to me, and I found personally that Benjamin Button is more of a science-fiction character than a human being. The fact that he spends his whole life seeing his friends die off is interesting.

I see that this movie was very well produced, all the elements were up-to expectations and sometimes more, tense was always there along the movie, I really wanted to take a breath among all that fast events and continuous suspense. there was a message to those who don't care about the human being represented by psychiatric who treat a schizophrenic girl by mirrors, that was the seed of the movie. The life of Kiefer(the security guard in a burned mega mall) was a mess. he got fired from the police, divorced and in trouble with his lovely wife and his two kids, stays at his sister's apartment and on regular use of anti-depressant drug. On his rounds at his new job he discovers something odd. A hand print on a mirror. The print can't be removed. It's on the other side of the mirror. He also discovers a flooded basement. Back at home he starts seeing things in the mirror. And starts investigating things about the place and the security guard who he replaced. He suspects that it is not just in his head as others tell him but that something is not right with this building and the mirrors. this curse has passed to his family members, threatening them and this was the motive that he should end this curse otherwise he'll loose his family. the remaining deserves that you watch it

After her failure in her previous love story with the traditional man as she tried to be as perfect as he wishes, however he didn't pay attention to this and he broke up with her! with such a frustrated heart she decided with her best friend to get rid of this by going to Vegas, In contrast he who was just have been fired by his father from his work because he was the type of irresponsible guys, he decided as well to go to Vegas, only accident has arranged their first meeting, they were very frustrated, very sad and very in need to cry with their highest, they danced, they sang and they get married as they were extremely drunk, see after they won a 3 million dollars in a lottery, they wanted to get divorced and to have 1.5 millions each! that's enough for now,,go and watch what's going to happen

Funny Games (2007)

Smart psychological thrill

Normally I would never have seen this film, as I have vowed never to see any type of slasher/torture-porn. However after reading about the director's vision of trying to show the audience how sickening the watching of graphic torture for entertainment really is, I knew I had to see it.

Unlike the hypocritical Untraceable or The Condemned, this film does exactly what it intends to do. This film gets in your head by giving the pretense that you will witness all the horrible acts, and then turns around on you by not showing anything! Everything is off-screen so you are left with only the sound effects. It is more disturbing as your imagination sets to work on the images off screen, and that in itself is more horrifying.

Haneke crafts a superbly smart psychological thrill, but almost too intelligent as it almost falters on expecting you to know the philosophy behind the film-making and for someone knowing nothing about the film it might be confusing or frustrating.

I would not recommend this film to everyone as it will disappoint the Saw/Hostel audience and may confuse newcomers. With that aside, I greatly welcomed the dissection of violence, and someone who understands the point of the film and enjoys art house-style film-making will appreciate it.

El-Gezirah (2007)

It's really good

yesterday i watched the movie, it was pretty good, almost 150 minutes long and i guess u'll never get bored, very fast actions, don't expect what's gonna happen because it'll not. I believed that there are some of these people live around, and how does the government deal with those people, Very powerful criminals who have there own judgment and there own rules, anyway, i hope you'll enjoy the crime-action-drama movie which is very well produced and directed and for the first time i can see Elsakka acting very well. my only comment about the dressings of Hend Sabry, it looks Scottish rather than Saeedy!! my only comment about the dressings of Hend Sabry, it looks Scottish rather than Saeedy!!

The Yacoubian Building (2006)

Close to people pulse

That's what I felt after watching that movie, it's really close to the society and the public's pulse, some overestimation is there but through comic frame, you'll enjoy watching that movie Marwan Hamed is not an ordinary director, he is one of the best around. i have never seen such a movie that tackles every issue in the Egyption society so honestly. it is a pure masterpiece and if i was running the Oscars then that movie will sure receive one. A movie so honest and directed, it is designed for all classes describing the social corruption in todays society - not only in Egypt but all around the world. if you miss this movie then you will spend your entire life regretting it so i advice every Arabic and non-Arabic speaker to watch the masterpiece and enjoy the art of this marvelous director whom i have a great respect for. two thumps up

Cloverfield (2008)

i couldn't believe it was a movie!!

if you didn't watch this movie yet, i recommend you strongly DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. For 20 minutes it was a going away party, then something blows up so everyone runs down to the street and starts yelling about what to do, then something blows up and everyone runs into a building and starts yelling about what to do, then they decide to go find their friend and go outside and something blows up so they run into the subway and yell about what to do, then there's a 2 second flash of some spider alien attacking someone so they run out of the subway into the arms of some military triage and yell about what to do, then the person who got attacked was infected and they blow up, so then the people run away and yell about what to do, then something blows up so they go into a building and yell about what to do, then they get their friend and something blows up so they run to central park and yell about what to do, then the monster shows up for 2 seconds and kills the cameraman so someone else grabs the camera and they run under a bridge and yell about what to do then something blows up and its over
