Yine de Asigim (2005)
Mad About You
This show is one of those "find and convert it" type of productions. What I mean is they find a show in foreign language and translated to Turkish, modify to Turkish culture a bit, and label it as their own work. This particular one is actually translated from Mad About You. Some episodes that I have seen have exactly same plot, same set up and believe or not even dialogs are same. The only difference is language and as I told you the cultural differences motivated from American to Turkish. So, it is not an original work. Haluk Bilginer and S. Sam is doing a good job, but still I don't like the plagiarism and also if you have seen the original show the Turkish one is not good at all.
Hosçakal Yarin (1998)
Hoscakal Yarin
Deniz Gezmis is a legend in Turkish history. People whether like or hate him may admire his courage, passion and determination. There are many movies start to focus on the dark face of Turkish history lately, which contains late 70's and early 80's. Deniz Gezmis obviously an important character in this time frame of Turkish history, this is not only what he represent with his utopia but it is also because how Turkish democracy is needed an education as a result of the trials. This time period was proved that his capital punishment was highly one sided and trial result was not fair. However, Hoscakal Yarin is a horrible movie. Celik claims that Hoscakal Yarin is based on a true event. If it is they were not very careful about time line of story, characters, what they stand for, etc. Story has many gaps. They jump from one time period to other without any explanation or footnote. It is very badly put in together. For instance, Deniz Gezmis was a collage student when they hang him. Berhan Simsek is way too old to be a collage student. In the movie any of three characters far beyond to represent the spirit of that political idea either. The scenario is very poorly written and directed. It does not give either terrifying events of that time or the enthusiasm of Gezmis and his friends. The technical quality of the movie is very bad too. It does not worth it to watch at all.
O Kadin (2007)
O Kadin
I would like to call "O Kadin" as a movie but it is not. It is most likely a video clip for a CD full of songs. It is not one of those trendy "I try something new" stuff either. It seems like they want to get benefit from a famous pop stars' songs, even they did very lousy job to do that so. The conversation and music volume mostly does not match. Most of the time the music is over the conservation, so you can not hear what people are talking or they cut music out so sudden and conversation comes too late. Moreover, the music and stories not really matches. The songs are awesome but the video clips are awful. Even though as a video clip it is not a good work. Watching this movie is a waste of time. If you know Sezen Aksu and want to listen her songs, buy a CD. This is very lousy, effortless work.
